The crowd I saw this movie with LOVED BAYMAX,I bet he will sell a lot of toys
GAWD my son lit up like a Christmas tree once Baymax appeared, and didn't stop. There is a twenty buck plushie on sale at the Disney Store. I'm sure I'll be getting one when we're in Disneyland.

I hadn't watched the INSIDE OUT trailer until it came on today before the movie. It looks really good. Same with MINIONS.
I've just come to terms I'm a total Disneynut. I tried to resist it but they have me by the pocketbook. Damn them.

I still wish I could get my buck fifty back for Trans4mers. That movie was fresh vomit… sorry Baumer
MALEFICENT took me by total surprise b/c I had zero expectations and yet fell in love with it despite the reviews here and on RT. I loved GODZILLA too. I'm so glad MALEFICENT did amazingly well WW and over performed domestically.

Maleficent was one of the worst movie I've seen all year, while Interstellar was one of the best, so I don't think I agree with your post.
Just talking from a box office standpoint.
I haven't seen IS, but I *adored* the hell out of Maleficent. There's a chance I may like it better than IS too….

Bay>Nolan?
Also… MALEFICENT >>> Nolan

Don't they have that thing about the princess that travels the world in a boat.
I think MOANA comes out in 2016?

What animated movies besides MINIONS and INSIDE OUT comes out next year? I don't think WDAS has anything coming out, do they?

Whoa wait what??? Despicable Me 2 made $368 million?! I had no idea!
I finally saw the trailer for this in front of BH6. It was awesome (as was BH6!) I'm super in for this next year.

The Feast made me want to go back home and give dog a big hug. Talk about pulling emotional strings.
And yeah there were those heart pulling moments throughout BH6.
That scene
when Baymax uses the rocket punch to save Hiro and Callaghan's daughter and says: Are you with your care?
That definitely got some people crying in the audience.
Yes, definitely that part, I was a mess.
What got to me, and I'm actually surprised my son could handle it was
creepy Kabuki dude and Hiro reprogramming Baymax to destroy him after the reveal
that allowed the story to handle Hiro's mental state over
losing his brother
.
That was really, really well done. I agree with the critics who thought the movie was a good superhero origin story, but an even better one about
loss of a loved one, especially for an adolescent.
And Tadaschi… Actually, I just have all the hearts for all the characters. They were wonderfully developed.
I guess that's 3/3 Marvel.

Ugly…. cried.
Started during FEAST, and pretty much throughout BIG HERO 6. That was an awesome experience. My son's new favorite thing is Baymax; I've never seen him light up as much as when he was on screen.
And my kid wasn't the loudest child in the audience today
Our theater looked about 75-80% full. All families with kids. Lots of laughs, screaming and clapping and cheering.
I adored the movie. Think I liked it even more than LEGO. I'm going to have to get all the Baymax merch for my kid though.
The biggest thing I really liked was that none of the footage really spoiled Hiro for me; I loved that he
was kind of a con artist at the beginning of the movie and that his brother (
) wanted to keep him out of trouble.. Loved how each character got a chance to shine too. But Baymax and Hiro stole our hearts, totally. My husband even loved it… though a lot of that was how much our son loved the movie.
I walked out of the theater thinking it had the cleverness of WRECK-IT RALPH and the heart of FROZEN (actually, probably even more heart as I cried buckets during the second half.

Is that your son's first movie in a theater?
I was 8 the first time I got in.
No I took him to LEGO MOVIE and DOLPHIN TALE 2 earlier.
Getting him used to being in theaters. He's well behaved... Um for the most part

I think Disney will survive. Hopefully you'll love it as much as I did.
Hope so

My son is not the youngest kid here... *PHEW*

Too cute to charge, huh?
Pretty much, yep LOL!
I think the cutoff age for kid tickets at this theater is 2 yrs. He's 2 1/2... I like cool theater employees like the one who gave us our ticket. He reminded me of Josh Gad.

Seated and waiting for the movie to begin.
We are prepared with our giant motherfucking tub of butter popcorn. The Numbnut is satisfied. He got in for free so already today's a good day!

Well the theater didn't charge for our son's ticket. So we only paid for two adult early bird tickets.
Sorry Disney.
Big Hero 6 imminent.

So I watched it last night. I'm loving the animation. Talk about bringing a city to life. I only wish SF actually had such a skyline. Hiro and Baymax are definitely the emotional core of the movie but I thought the supporting characters were a bit underdeveloped. And I was close to balling on several scenes. This is gonna make so much money in the BO and merchandising.
And The Feast....what a short. Head and shoulders about Get a Horse but just short of Paperman.
Very very good movie. Liked it more than Frozen but that's probably due to my CBM bias
WOM is going to be very good and expecting some strong legs.
Based on Friday numbers its probably heading to 56-58. But I wouldn't be surprised by a stronger than expected bump on Saturday. I think 60 is still within range.
The really positive reactions on here from y'all are great reads. I'm really excited about seeing SF rendered in this movie. I kind of love that SF's become the backdrop for more movies; seems like that's increased ever since I moved here.

I'll repeat this one more time, even though it will get lost in the next 77 pages of how bad Interstellar opened.
Inception is an anomaly, not the rule for original films.
IS opened right in line with Gravity and Prometheus, two other films set in space dealing with the human condition...and here's the kicker....both of those had 3D. So IS actually opened better.
I'm not a revisionist, but I never expected IS to gross 75 mill OW or make 300 or make a billion. Did I think it would open at 50? Nope.....I honestly didn't know where it would open, but I would have guessed around 60.
This is a good opening and with the holidays approaching, the decent WOM and IMAX until Hobbit comes out, the chances of this making 150 mill look really good.
You sound way too sensible. Box Office Loonie.

Going to the 11:55 showing today! Loving that higher RT score.
Caught up on a lot of awesome movies this week. Hoping that BH6 is as good and awesome as y'all are saying

That INTERSTELLAR number doesn't seem… awful? It seems decent if you didn't have high expectations.

Yeah, I'm aware of that… was kind of being facetious with my statements
