  1. been able to see any movie i wanted since wed on both my accounts..
  2. they should have just gone to different price model from day 1. it wasnt the cost per month that changed how many bought in, it was the fact no one knew about it. $10 a month for 2 movies and have price after that or something would have still gotten many to buy it and the bleeding would have happened much slower.
  3. and this effects how many people using MP? maybe .01%. I know people who go and they let others use it to go.. it takes that away. it probably should have been that way all along.. It has zero effect on any of my friends , you can count on one hand how many times i have seen a movie more than once in a theatre and not once since i had the pass.
  4. One thing you cant tell from the numbers is whats happening to some movies. How many movies do parents take kids too that they wouldnt sit thru or take the kids if it was costing them money. maybe 1 parent took 4 kids to see black panther because it was free with MP, the numbers will not show that scale.. I know as a kid there were lots of movies we never saw because my parents didnt want to pay to sit thru it.
  5. It really isnt that hard to stop this from happening though as long as the transactions are being properly listed by the movie place. For large chains they just need to work with them to make sure it is happening.. they should be lumping transactions as the same type anyway or the theatre cant track purchases.
  6. so how are they able to even know if you stayed for a complete movie anyway? the movie pass once its off isn't tracking and sending anything out.
  7. just where are all these discount tuesdays? never been anywhere thats had one nor met anyone other than these boards who knows anything about them?
  8. I am not sure that thinking of this is a trilogy is correct. its the 8th , 9th movie.. this is not a short arc like Avangers, its a 40 year arc, that was building and diminished because of the story in 1-2-3, even in still setting records. This one brought the gang back together, and by that i mean families, kids, grandparents and the 50-60 yr olds who loved star wars. How many series span enough time to have to 3 sets of fans, two of which love their trilogy? its the same reason this went huge because the model didnt know how to handle it. star wars went down in ep 5 because people who went out of curiosity knew whether they liked it and did or didnt go back for another round. it didnt matter if the movie was good to those who didnt enjoy the taste they got from that story telling. Ep 8 will be far different, the curiosity factor will be far lower with an established 40 yr franchise. This is why Bond can explode 50 years later, This time around it will purely be about the story and the reviews. It will go huge with the fans out of the gate but if the story is there it will huge again. The one thing that can hurt it is the next movie if it tanks for being bad. but if its good it will fuel the fire even more. Sure it can drop 30% , but its going to be at 500 million after 2 weeks again and it if its good it will be 850-900.
  9. Of the people I know who want to see the movie, its about 50/50 who have. I know many who dont want to deal with crowds.. Several cant deal with 3d and made multiple attempts to see it in 2d but it was sold out since so few shows are in 2d. Many are waiting until the weekend to try and go again.
  10. one thing that is far different today is the number of shows you can watch a movie in today.. star wars sold out for 20+ weeks in my city.. there were 2 shows a day and 4 on a weekend for almost 30 weeks. many people i knew never saw it because they couldnt. back then no one drove beyond the closet local movieplex to see a movie.
  11. i dont know how places are doing Sat, but our local theater said they are dramatically busier today than what they had fri. sold out every show from noon to 4 with huge lines of people waiting. they said triple the business from what they say friday.
  12. I was a 13 yr old when star wars came out.. every week we begged our parents to go see it , finally in week 22 a neighbors kid came back into town and took us. it was sold out for 25 weeks on our city. the wait in the 22 week was 1.5 hrs and we stood outside 6 blocks away. 2 shows a day back then early and late.. all my friends loved it but there was no going back 2-3 times. as a kid i never heard of anyone going to see a movie more than once. i never did until after college and that was only to take my dad or girlfriend who hadnt seen it. even today none of my movie going friends go more than once, my kids may if they go with a different group of friends but it is vert rare
