  1. Man of steelHobbit trilogyAvengers 2Star wars 7Thor dark worldCaptain america winter soldierX men first class 2Transformers 4Amazing spiderman 2Star trek 2Justice league, new batman, independence day 2 if they are ever confirmed would be in top 10

  2. Not sure if serious...but completely false. On the topic of this discussion, it would be Thor in terms of overall power. People are confusing brute strength for power.

Thor is my favourite Avenger but Hulk would own him. As he always does. Hulk can take Thors strength and power. He is the worldbreaker.
  3. SS is the strongest hero in the Universe?

with what he is able to accomplish with his cosmic powers, he is technically one of the most powerful. Up there in the top 5. It's sad they always show him getting beat by earth heroes though, which sucks cos he could just melt them...literally
  4. I'm so tired of seeing the CO Shooting being used as a scapegoat for why TDKR did the numbers it did when in fact, it's 2nd weekend alone on saturday grossed 25.1M indicating the shooting didn't have that big of an effect.. As a matter of fact, that number indicates to me that a large majority of moviegoers went back to the movie that weekend.. It boils down to the fact that TDKR just wasn't that good and it wasn't when compared to the better crowd pleaser in TA or even TDK..

it lost family audience in the long run. Also that second weekend saturday you like to bring up all the time was due to people sitting in on Friday to view the olympics opening ceremony. So ofcourse you would see a slight increase the next day. The max the shooting cost TDKR was $50mil or so. It would have gotten a 180mil OW and ended at 500mill or so. All this mention of challenging avatar and avengers etc is just absurd.

  5. Acting

    TA-7/10

they were good for their roles but no outstanding performances.

    TDKR-9/10

dropped a point because i agree Marion Contillard was a weak link.

    Action

    TA-9/10

Good fun action all round. nothing that hasnt been seen before as it was all CGI.

    TDKR-9/10

less cgi more stunt etc. Loved it. Bane/Batman fight one of the best and intense fight scenes ever. Would have liked to see more of catwoman though.

    Ambition

    TA-9/10

Did something never done before and succeeded.

    TDKR-9/10

Instead of trying to top TDK it took another route and made the threat bigger.

    Cinematography

    TA-7/10

Nothing spectacular except for the circle shot. But that was predictable and has been done before.

    TDKR-10/10

One of the best cinematographers working today did it.

    Dialogue

    TA-8/10

Good witty dialogue with enough humour to lighten the atmosphere.

    TDKR 9/10

Bane had some of the most memorable lines in recent memory. 'ahh you think darkness is your ally...' etc.

    Emotion

    TA-6/10

Good movie but i did not feel very invested in the movie to care for the characters much. Just didnt seem like they were facing such a big threat. The atmosphere being too lighthearted may have hindered it.

    TDKR-9/10

Threat seemed real and you felt for the characters. Micheal Caine really brings you to the brink with his crying at the end. And the last glimse of batman flying with the bomb. many emotional scenes.

    Humour

    TA-9/10

You cant get better than the hulk and loki scene

    TDKR-6/10

Wasnt meant to be very funny. Though catwoman did come out with some light hearted witty remarks as per the character.

    Score

    TA-7/10

Score was good but underwhelming and the main theme is nothing wow or memorable.

    TDKR-9/10

im a big fan of the score for this trilogy. Like the new themes used for bane and catwoman etc. Gothams reckoning is really scary and really brings out the audiences fear of bane.

    Script

    TA-8/10

Good script but too light hearted.

    TDKR-9/10

Hint of humour in a dark movie. pulled of brilliantly while keeping the threat intact.

    Villains

    TA-6/10

Sorry as much as i like loki, him or the chitauri were not very convincingly evil or terrifying. But i understand more screen time was given to the heroes to show them gelling hence the villains took a back seat in this one. Hope fully Thanos changes that in the next one.

    TDKR-10/10

One of the best villains ever.Period.

    TA Total= 76

    TDKR Total- 89

  6. The part I highlighted reeks of hyperbole.. At the end of the day, this Poll is skewered for the simple fact that movie sites like this along with KJ are very Pro-Nolan and will always be Pro-Nolan and rarely if at all, will you see a Nolan movie lose to another movie in Polls like this even if it is deserving..

BKB i could name you many actors/filmakers that have clearly stated they took inspiration from the dark knight. Most recent being skyfall. The whole of hollywood must be pro-nolan then...for good reason:) In the last few years Christopher Nolan has really shown his skill to the world and its being appreciated.
  7. The Dark Knight raised the bar so high that filmakers and actors are always taking inspiration from it. Avengers is a different type of movie. In fact sometimes i think its unfair to compare these two movies together because they do completely opposite things for the genre. Avengers is remembered for the boxoffice and because it appealed to all audiences. It was a dream for audiences to see an ensemble superhero movie. The Dark Knight was about the classy filmaking, the intriguing story, acting, technical department etc. Also it should be noted though they are different in tone etc, they both worked brilliantly.
