are you on dude. Visual effects doesnt mean a movie was better. Hence why snow white is there.Best Visual Effects
THE AVENGERS, Janek Sirrs, Jeff White, Guy Williams and Dan Sudick
THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, Joe Letteri, Eric Saindon, David Clayton and R. Christopher White
LIFE OF PI, Bill Westenhofer, Guillaume Rocheron, Erik-Jan De Boer and Donald R. Elliott
PROMETHEUS, Richard Stammers, Trevor Wood, Charley Henley and Martin Hill
SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN, Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, Philip Brennan, Neil Corbould and Michael Dawson
The fact that TDKR isn't even nominated and The AVENGERS is makes this thread seem even more significant..

Yh visual effects is given to films with heavier use of CGi. TDKR had barely any compared to movies like Avengers and the hobbit. Hope hobbit wins it. You can see that weta really went all out. Avengers and Prometheus would be second to it.I heard the tiger in life of pi was all cgi. If true it looks amazing!

audience agree otherwise no film would get close to $1billion. Critics, yeah they are split on this but they dont hate it.Also its not going to pass skyfall or even get close to it. Dont see why you are getting worked up about it. or are you just talking about domestic gross?I`m glad that critics and audiences don`t agree with you.

TED- had its funny moments but felt no connection to the characters or the story. The Hunger Games- i liked that they had actors in this movie that could actually act unlike movies like twilight! but i think the story was weak. Nothing really groundbreaking or anything. Could tell it was trying to be the next twilight. It was overall ok movie but as Jessie said...$400m?!

i agree they are not plot holes. But they did serve a purpose. Every plot device has been explained numerous times; its reason and consequence. If it wasnt, well its not that hard to piece it altogether.Just a few people going on and on about this. They just not satisfied with the answers because they dont care. Simple as that.It was not really plot holes. It more like plot devices that really did not serve a purpose...

out of the hundreds of members on this site, its always the same 2-3 people continuosly hating on this movie in this forum. They are just trying to convice themselves that this movie was a dud when it sure as hell wasn't.Amazing to see how TDKR haters always ranting on and on about nolanites etc and yet any person that defends this movie or answers their petty arguments on supposed 'plot holes' that a kindergarten kid could figure out, they get bashed.Phil the hobbit, i agree with everything in your posts. You have defended this movie with logic and sound reasoning. you have my respect dude:)

In order:
Reed Richards
Dr Doom
Bruce Banner
Hank Pym
Tony Stark
Hank McCoy
Amadeus Cho
Valeria Richards probbaly has them all beat or will do when she grows up.
they are all as smart as eachother tbh but they have their strengths. One may be able to figure something out before the other does not mean they are smarter. The Mighty Avengers broke into the FF headquarters to retrieve something of Pym's Reed had but wouldn't give it back. When Pym confronted Reed he was in a room that whenever Pym would move forward Reed and the desk he was sitting at would move back at the same rate meaning Pym can never cross the room and grab the device. Pym realized sound can travel across the room no problem so he pulled out a sonic whip to grab the device. Reed thought he had the perfect set up but Pym was able to deduce a flaw.

think some people here need to learn the difference between 'plot holes' and 'plot devices'. Pretty much everything about this conversation for TDKR becomes redundant once you know the difference.

Maybe im reading them wrong but Baumers posts have a hint of sarcasm in there that some people on this thread are not noticing.brings to mind that devil stirring the pot pic that shawn posted lol.

i feel the same way about both the movies. I enjoyed TDKR more but Avengers has set the bar high for ensemble movies from now on.I dont really see the need to nitpick things from good movies. Just enjoy them for what they are. People will always come up with plot holes and incoherent plot devices. What one person can't comprehend another person makes sense of it.I enjoy the debate between these two movies but sometimes it just goes on and on.It's kinda hard to hate on Avengers, despite its flaws.

TDK bar was really really high...so a step down isnt too bad for a film consideringYou can't ban BKB.
He was the only one that was that perdicted TA and TDKR acurately, lol!
About TA vs TDKR opinions.
TA...Mostly you here its a blast! or some people say the story was not that great.
With TDKR, you hear some say it was amazing but everyone I know says it was big step down from TDK.
-
come on guys, dont get BKB banned. I enjoy his posts even if they are abit nutty. He is just an avid fan boy like the 'nolanites'.

where in India are you from Fake?

im from u.k and over here people were more hyped and impressed by TDKR than Avengers (from what i saw anyway). Im talking about my colleagues, friends, family even random individuals talking about it on the train. Perhaps it was different in the U.S. Maybe thats why we can't all agreeIts simple..TA was more liked by the overall audienceTDKR was more liked by older audiences.

its the only thread you would look out for anyway mate. Anything TDKR related you can't resist to comment on.500M wasn't going to happen, shooting or no shooting and if it were going to happen, it would've done it anyway if the movie really was THAT good and the fact of it is, is that it stalled at 448M Domestic and couldn't even muster up enough to cross 450M, so this nonsense about 500M Domestic is exactly that: Nonsense.. Bottom line is that this past summer just wasn't the summer of WB and Nolan like it was in 2008.. It belonged to MARVEL and deep down, even Nolan probably knew it deserved it..
And I'm still amazed at how this thread is the only thread this forum has going for it and the only thread anyone has responded to over any other thread in this forum..
500mill is logical estimate. Anything higher is pushing it abit. Pretty much everyone knows shooting affected it. Best not to go on about it as its an argument with no definitive answer. Just because you say it wouldnt make it doesnt mean everyone does.
Dont talk about Nolan as if you know him lol. Im pretty sure he isnt too interested in having the highest grossing movie. If he was he would have agreed to have TDKR filmed/converted in 3D. There are only a few directors in hollywood who are known to stick to their guns. He is one of them.

I remember when i went to Marble Arch Odeon to watch narnia 2 in 2007. The ticket cost me 12.85 i think and when i went into the auditorium the screen was no bigger than my bedroom wall...i swear! i was like fuck no, went out and got my refund.

Fishnets gives it a C+?? I'll take it!I understand your arguments but I disagree with you on most of them. Thought Thorin really stayed with me as a character. Yes he is very broody, but his character demands someone who has gone through pain and loss. I think most would agree that Thorin was one of the highlights of the movie. I agree that half the dwarfs have no stand out moments in the movie. Also I only picked up half of their names. The rest are a blur. I hoped that is fixed in the next movie. Its my only gripe in the movie. The hobbit book is just really short and not much really goes on in it when compared to lotr. It needed the appendices to really add some flavour and make the tale grander. Perhaps when the 3 movies are seen back to back they will flow better for the naysayers? We can hope.Oh I'm glad you liked the 48fps. I will be going sometimes in the next couple of weeks to check it out. Quite excited to see what all the fuss is about.

Hobbit is improving...''Hope is kindled'' My sister and nephew went to see it in 2D today. They enjoyed it immensely. Nephew did say it was abit slow in the begining but i told him he is only 10 and doesnt know anything. He agreed:P

Why do people dislike TDKR?

Also when you have the Hulk and Gollum rendered so well, do you think the academy cares for a batwing flying around?
Again you and bkb just trying to imply with your posts that its a shit movie because it didn't get nominated. Its getting tiresome now. You don't like the movie mate than fair enough. Its a threequel, they usually split some audiences.
