Pretty meh for Abominable but expected. DreamWorks Animation has gone from being at the top of the animation chain alongside Disney/Pixar to mostly an afterthought this decade.
Thats pretty much what I thought
Their last movies have looked pretty uneventful, unappealing and too childish. Buy they still give them big bugdets and big theater count releases.
I mean, nice thay their movies now do not show us too many pop culture shit but when I see trailers of their recent movies I never have desire to go see them just like the old crap like Madagascar or Monster vs Aliens.
Looks like they just dont know what to do.

Yet another Toy Story movie that does not match Shrek 2 UNADJUSTED grosses in NA.
Shrek 2 eats alone.

61% drop for tlk
Thats a Spider-man 3 sort of drop.
This is really bad

Shrek 5 has a better chance of opening with $50m than $200m.
Its impossible that a nostalgia driven new Shrek movie with several years of inflation opens much lower than the uneventful Shrek Forever After. Instead, while difficult, a good marketed Shrek film could have a chance to get to the $200m mark

if TLK or Frozen 2 don't open to 200M, we probably won't see a non-CBM/SW open above 200M for the next decade or so.
Shrek 5.

Lol, shrek 5 won’t sniff $100m ow. Shrek 3 & 4 made sure of that.
HAHAHAHA
The uneventful, obsolete and horrible looking Shrek Forever After opened to $70m, which adjusts to like $86m today, a new nostalgia driven Shrek movie, if marketed well, will do that number in the first day

Admissions is what I only care.
In that aspect, TS4 will surpass TS3 I guess..?

Uk has a gigantic drop from Ts3. Australia also below Ts3 though not by much
In admissions too?

Actually, TS4's OW likely edges ahead of TS3's in admissions. 60% 3D share for TS3's OW was reported. Using $11 as average 3D ticket price in 2010 to subtract the 3D inflation out and then adjusting the new number to 2019 prices, we get an OW around $104m for TS3. TS4 maybe has 15% 3D share this weekend (if even that honestly), so using $12 as an average 2019 3D ticket price, it adjusts down to about $112m. So it probably sold more admissions.
Toy Story movies will end up being tremendously consistent in numbers of admissions. Around 44-48m for the movies

Now it is up to Shrek 5 to be the first $200m animation opener.
I don't see Frozen 2 a contender.

I don't like ANY of their sequels. This is not Shrek 2.
I'll see this next week when it opens here.
The Shay would always say YES.
Shrek 2 is a wonderful movie that should have lasted 2 hours instead of 1:30

Says you. That's certainly not what I said or meant. I think the relatively recent Disney animated features starting with Bolt have all been great, but among them Frozen is a cut above the rest.
Frozen has two or three memorable characters and good songs, but narrative-story-wise it's nothing we haven't seen before, but that is not only a Disney thing

I think the original Frozen's story is the best WDAS have come up with this millennium, so there!
Thats a pretty low bar for recent Disney movies, then...

I've never watched Frozen, but this trailer oddly tempts me to check it out. I'm gonna go in blind without knowing what happens in the previous movie and see how that goes.
Story-wise, Frozen 1 is not that great

Okay, but what if instead we move TS4 into the 500s, Frozen into the 600s, and use Maleficent to cover the 200s (~25% fall from first one adjusted gets there).
And then Penguins covers the 000s, it’s perfect.
Frozen in the 500s is enough..

Glad to see a decentish hold for Booksmart - best movie I've seen in theatres this year.
Don't know if anyone's mentioned so far, but Captain Marvel just went over Shrek adjusted. I can barely get my head around that. Amazing run.
Aladdin looks set for a cracking run, what are we looking at WW finish with this hold?
Still below Shrek in attendance due to 3D prices.

Nah if it is one animated flick opening north of $200m is this, not Frozen
-
Did anybody feel kind of disappointed that the heavily anticipated Toy Story 3 was not able to break the animation OW from Shrek 3 and highest grossing animation record from Shrek , even with years of inflation and with 3D support?
That is my reason I thought this movie could not be that big. But hey, I for one, happy seeing this breaking out

DWA make sequel of every chit that makes $150m

At least Zootopia main characters were more memorable. But this has nothing to offer to bring audiences back
