Disney and Universal will dominate the animation market for the next decade.
Shrek 5 will count as an Universal movie?

Yeah, it felt buzz was strong here for Dragon 3.
But, did it surpass Shrek 2 or Shrek Forever After' OW?

Buzz seems pretty good in China with almost a month to go until release. The second film grossed $65 million in 2014, so there is quite a bit of room for growth after several years of market expansion. However, the release date is unfortunate- sandwiched between Alita and Captain Marvel (one week in either direction).
This market will determine if Dragon 3 can surpass Dragon 2's overseas numbers. I think it has potential for $100m total.

Do you think this could reach $200m?
Dragon 2' $49m OW was one the biggest letdowns I've seen

Meh. I only really like the second one out of the whole trilogy.
Shay's only hope now is with Alita. Come on, girl!!
Too predictable, boring? Whats wrong with it?

Its probably the worse film of the trilogy because of the predictable story but still a good flick and an entertaining watch. Also the animation is just gorgeous but that should surprise no one.
The first HTTYD is a tremendously predictable movie.

Yep, but Titanic is a 1997 movie .., Titanic was released today would do $3 billion.
I would like to see a list of the admissions in the top countries in the world Titanic sold in 1998 and make a comparative how much dollars would they mean today.

I'm more than happy with everything over $100m, Rogue One will increase the hype in China and other Asian countries, so SW8 will profit from the increasing awareness and WOM, grossing more than $200m, maybe even $300m.
Not with this bad WOM

So this didn't get past 90M this weekend? I'm a bit disappointed.
First time in history a movie makes $88m on a third weekend, and its a disappointment...

Having a hard time getting hyped for this. I loved KFP 1 and 2, saw them many times. But this one kinda looks unappealing this time around. The focus on more pandas, an unimaginative villain, the fat/food jokes again, the father drama again. Some of the parts look great, but overall doesn't look very interesting. I'd love to be proved wrong, because previous KFPs were great.
5 years later, Its difficult to mantain hype, in a big scale, around a movie that follows a sequel that underperformed box office wise. Dwa shouldve done better than this in the trailers. They just cannot learn to do better marketing. No Wonder why this looks unappealing..

I wanna say the weather but looks like, as others said, it just couldn't keep following Avatar's drops (avatar dropped 14,2% 2nd Sunday from Saturday).
Looks like we're headed for -22%, around that. We'll see on Monday! It's still early though
It won't have the Avatars legs all the time. Thats obvious. Its already over 300m ahead of Avatar, not a problem if it dropped a little more...

I dont think this "china" adjust will work. NO WAY Avatar 2 is making 1B in china. It wont have enough screens long enough for it. We have seen past couple of years local cinema have gotten stronger with so many big releases through the year.
We already saw with MI5 how all the "adjusting" gross dont work at all. Avatar 2 is locked to drop from Avatar OS. Especially with 3D being dead in most markets and $ being uber strong.
Its locked to decrease OS, yes. China may be bigger than first one but its locked most of the rest of markets will decrease, and not by small margin.
