[Frozen OS thread]

Well I would say the general consensus greatest animation period at the moment would probably be the Lion King (considering critical acclaim and commercial success), which is also Disney so I would hesitate to make that statement. If Frozen can knock off TS3, pick up both oscars, continue to dominate the billboard 200 charts, and make a lot of noise at the next year's Grammys then the argument could be made. However, there is no way that Frozen will knock off TLK's gross adjusting for inflation and I doubt the soundtrack will get to Lion king levels (10 weeks at #1). But both are fantastic movies so I have no problem with those taking the top 2 spots!

Well adjusted for inflation "gone with the wind" would have both highest attendance and highest gross of all time, but I'd hesitate to label it as the most successful movie ever. While it is true movie gross rises with inflation, the fact that there are more movies to contend with nowadays has to be taken into consideration as well as a host of other factors. So its pretty difficult to compare gross of movies from different time periods. The same applies to the billboard. Back then there was no youtube so to fairly compare TLK and frozen OST you'd have to factor that into the equation too. Still I get where you're coming from and as a huge TLK fan myself I struggle to put either one first. TLK has a very strong message with "the circle of life" and while frozen gets alot of stick for its apparently "weak" story plot, I think it's message of embracing your inner weirdness and making it a special part of you resonates far more loudly with the audience of today. Still this is all just my opinion and I'm in no way forcing anyone to conform to my thoughts. Maybe it's enough to just accept they're both great movies

1b before march is just mind boggling! o.O frozen continues to defy expectations. I wonder, frozen has already won annie awards&BAFTA, if it wins academy awards for original song and animation feature and goes on to beat TS3, will people consider this to be the greatest disney animation studios production ever? (I stop short of saying greatest animation period!)

One reason I'm pessimistic on frozen doing avatar numbers in SK is because local movies are generally more popular over there. A recent SK movie called "attorney" managed 11m in attendance and it took less time to get to where frozen is at right now. Frozen legs are freakishly long yes but there's no way of telling if it will even reach close to avatar numbers. singalong version may be crucial but to my knowledge there's no news yet that they're going to show over there.

Oh and a string of hollywood and local movies are coming out on feb 20 so that might impact frozen attendance too

13m is a stretch I think. That would put it near or even above avatar which is #1 atm in attendance in SK. 10m attendance is a good number to aim for. Still I've learned not to underestimate frozen so who knows
