SK sunday box office numbers for frozen
daily admission: 153,923
total admission: 9.61m
Total gross: $72m
Basically 300k admission for this weekend. It's lost a lot of steam but as long as it's still running by next weekend 10m admission is a lock. Frozen atm is 11th in the all time SK box office admissions ranking, an incredible performance considering it isn't a local film and it's an animation(traditionally not very popular in SK). 10m is seen as a significant figure over here only 10 films have ever managed it so frozen will be joining a very exclusive club
On a side note, I really can't believe pompei is #1 in SK box office...that film literally blows

China will end at $50-$55m
SK will end at $75-80m
Japan I'm hoping for MU numbers, $90-$100m
that will get it over TS3 but it won't beat IM3

Sk frozen sat box office
Daily admission: 157,149
total admission: 9.46m
total gross: $70.8m
I was hoping for at least 200k admissions but new releases this week did better than expected. with new releases next week into an already crowded month frozen could go down fast....
-
Really excited for frozen and DoS numbers. Can't believe how big a market China is becoming for hollywood films!
-
Please,TS3 is MUCH better.
It's a matter of opinion. Personally I thought TS3 had the better story plot and really touched me deeply, while frozen's musical numbers and message of love overcoming fear made it resonate more deeply in me. Both great movies though and I'd easily understand anyone who puts TS3 above frozen.

Yeah IM3 is a bit out of reach...highest grossing animation film has a nice ring to it though especially considering it's a non sequel!

Wasn't Tangled badly impacted by the Earthquake? I think it would have made more if that hadn't happened.
Yes it's true I forgot to mention that. even without the earthquake/tsunami though I doubt it would have made pixar numbers.
-
That's actually a pretty good list of reasons. You should probably add academy award wins to that when it happens
Anyway here's to hoping it breaks out big time in Japan! I never imagined frozen would be challenging TS3 WW when it first came out! Amazing run.

Facts
Japanese box office for recent WDAS releases
Tangled: $31M
WiR: $29M
princess and the frog: $4M
winnie the pooh: $4M
For a country with a film-going population as big as Japan those numbers aren't really a good performance. Pixar is way more popular than disney there. MU grossed $90M finding nemo did $102M and even cars 2 managed $38M
So going on past facts, 100M for frozen is a bit optimistic. I'm not saying that it won't happen (before frozen disney was really unpopular in SK too and just look what happened) but it isn't what you'd call a lock. There's no way of knowing to what extent frozen will break out in the Japanese market.
How did you come up with 100m anyway?
-
Yea predicting 100m minimum for a Hollywood movie in Japan is just crazy.
100m for a non pixar movie in japan is optimistic to say the least. I'd say anything close to MU numbers in japan would be a huge success! I expect it to do better than SK if possible though

All 3in a completly different demographic. Shouldn't affect it.
Well I'm not sure about monuments men or 12 years a slave but non stop at least is expected to do well. Also a key part of frozen's success here in SK is based on how well it's doing among adults not just among movie going family size units. that part of the demography will be hit quite hard. Pompei, american hustle and jjirashi(local) aren't really frozen's demographic either but they hit admission numbers noticeably this past couple of days
-
Nonstop, 12 years a slave and monuments men releasing next week, added to the 3 new releases this week makes that unlikely as much as I'd like it to happen.By the following Sunday, sure. Can hold and do 11m is the question. Still very possible.

Shame about the exchange rate! Still the admissions is really good see what are your predictions for where it will end??Argentina: Thursday: Mr. Peabody & Sherman poised to win the weekend by a wide margin Robocop & Lego dropped 50%+ Frozen (1863000 admissions) beats IM3 total (1860000 adm.). But the exchange rate this year is so much worst than last May so Frozen would need to sell almost 400000 adm more to reach IM3's $13.6 M and that is not going to happen.

SK friday box office Frozen daily admissions: 65,487Total admission: 9.3mTotal gross $69.58mNumbers up by around 10k from yesterday. Presales are #1 for the weekend. I think 200k on sat and another 200k on sunday will set things up nicely for 10m admissions

Sk frozen admission (Thu)
Daily: 55,405
Tot: 9.23m
Considering the daily average this week was around 75-80k it's a bit of a drop. new releases "pompei", "american hustle" and "jjirashi" are impacting admission numbers.
Frozen should reclaim number one spot over the weekend though.

SK box office live presales#1 Pompei:18.3%#2 Frozen: 17.9%Frozen loses its #1 presales spot but considering it's in its sixth week its not really surprising. Liam neeson's "nonstop" will also be a big hit over here. Expect frozen to do around 10.5m ish admissions

Frozen SK box office (Wed)
daily admission: 72,113
tot admission: 9.18m
tot gross: $69.11m
live presale percentages
frozen:18.3%
pompay:15.4%
granny:13.9%
jjirashi:11.8%
Presales are down by quite a bit. Frozen still slightly edging it but box office domination may be over
-
It's around 11-12% through Mon to Thu.
8m more is doable.
Maybe $45M finish.
$45M? Wow Frozen is doing better than expected in China! great news.

From HenryBCN
Walt Disney Animation Studios in Brazil
Frozen 4122284 admissions $21.2 M
Tangled 3746330 $24.3 M
Wreck it Ralph 3653363 $21.4 M
Bolt 1072543 $4.6 M
The Princess and the Frog 933705 $4.1 M
Meet the Robinsons 718882 $3.4 M
Winnie The Pooh 75052 $0.1 M
I'm surprised that frozen didn't do all that much better than tangled or WiR admission wise in brazil

There you go.
we'll see I guess I hope you're right!

I haven't figured out how to post pictures here so I'll just type this.
Attorney/Frozen
1m- day3/day4
2m- day5/day9
3m- day7/day11
4m- day10/day15
5m- day12/day17
6m- day14/day18
7m- day17/day24
8m- day19/day27
9m- day25/day33
10m- day31/?
11m- day45/?
It's a comparison of admission numbers of frozen and the most recent 11m admission film in SK called the attorney. It finished its run at around 11.35m admissions.
Unlike frozen it benefited from not having any major competition for the majority of its run. Anyway it took around a week less to get to where frozen is at right now before dropping pretty steeply so frozen would have to show some crazy holds to match it. How it fares against films released tomorrow (2/20) will be key I think.
