  3. It was a good variety of factors. Big, splashy multiplexes were popping up more and ticket prices were starting to rise considerably, the 9/11 attacks made people want escapist entertainment at a time when streaming didn't exist, and all those movies had tons going for them in the advertising, whether it be the people behind them (Monsters, Ocean's) or the iconic source material (Potter, Fellowship). There was a really good thread talking about this stuff about 5 years ago, which really crystallized the absurd bump in attendance in 2000 and 2001.

  5. Think that's June 2001-May 2002? I know at that period of time, monthly records were popping up all over the place
  6. I hope people also put in the energy for Nichelle Nichols, who is also trapped in an abusive conservatorship from her son. All of this really, really sucks https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/skbaer/free-britney-nichelle-nichols-conservatorship
  7. Moderation @Maggie that's enough. Straight up, full disclosure, that is enough. There's a lot of things we let slide here, but war apologism is not one of them. Cut it out or I'm cutting you out. And to everybody else, please drop the subject.

  9. They had those sensory-friendly screenings intended for autistic kids last week for Dog at my local theater. I get why they gave it to this film (what kid doesn't love dogs?), but having seen the movie, it's really not something that I think would be super exciting to young kids. But I guess I was proven wrong?
