Just a reminder a Murdoch could potentially run the Disney corporation. If you seriously think this is OK, please consider this.

Yup, because clearly a socialist or communist society would lead to much better results. We could all have the same amount of money, studios wouldn't have enough money to finance big blockbusters because money would be provided by the state for "important" things only. They'd take care of us. We may have some low budget government-funded movies about how great socialism is, but we wouldn't have needless wastes of money like blockbusters. Socialism and communism have both worked so well, they haven't at all been the cause of tens of millions of deaths, or the destruction of individual liberty, property, and freedom. Death to capitalism! What a horrible system, when just about anyone can succeed and build a life of wealth and distinction. Who would want such a terrible system? We don't need the riff raff rising up and becoming wealthy. It would be so much better if we could just have a system where the government power players are the societal elite, and everyone else is just "equal" (equally poor, the dumb schmucks!). It really is a bummer watching capitalism just ruin the world through a complete lack of technological innovation in this country and nobody having any desire to make great advances anymore. Oh well, maybe one day we'll see the light of communism so we can be more like old Soviet Russia or Cuba or North Korea.
Do they not teach history anymore or do people just not really pay attention? I know they don't teach basic economics because I argue with enough liberals on the Internet to understand even Econ 101 is beyond their grasp.

Great news for moviegoers everywhere, one of the best things that could happen. A studio that makes almost all quality movies acquires a studio that has a proud history of great hits as well, but uniting their resources will be a powerful bargaining tool against theaters that are also consolidating (with Regal in talks to be sold to a European-based cinema company). The best thing for moviegoers is Disney's streaming service that's coming, which will hopefully grant access to thousands of movies that Netflix simply doesn't have because they have about 17 movies before 1980. It's pathetic. Their selection has gotten so bad because they spend all of their money making original content, none of it negotiating deals, and try to appeal to the absolute cheapest, poorest people by offering a service for $10/month that really should be $30/month and loaded with more content.
I don't see any negatives to this deal at all for moviegoers. Fox won't magically neuter Deadpool 2, it'll still be Deadpool 2, Disney won't want to mess with a good thing.
To say you want more "adult entertainment" where you define "adult" as shitty indie movies that nobody likes is disingenuous at best. Most people would far rather see a Pixar movie than see this year's crappy indie love fest. That's why the box office results are so terrible for these movies. They have awful trailers that appeal to just about nobody, so even with an RT score of 90-100% nobody watches them. They're NOT appealing movies. If you want to see them, that's awesome, I'm sure you'll always be able to find some "hidden indie gem" about a gender neutral non-binary single mother / father / unidentified raising a special needs child in the inner city while struggling with heroin abuse and the injustice of capitalist society, but for the rest of us who like movies that provide actual entertainment value Disney is king.

Somewhat related, but a recent YT video by Lindsay Ellis popped up talking about It, Stranger Things, and nostalgia. I'm just putting it here because it's both super entertaining, and I love Ellis' videos.

Disney has made Rob Marshall the top choice to direct The Little Mermaid, the live action adaptation of the animated classic musical that will have new songs by Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda and Alan Menken, sources said. Miranda and Marc Platt are producing. I’ve heard that Marshall has been offered the movie, and will take until after the holidays to decide.

Maybe some of the employees could be rehired at WDAS or Pixar.
The studio is based in Connecticut, so that'll be a problem. But in all honesty, why would Disney get rid of an animation studio, and create negative PR in doing so, when they can capitalize on having three successful animation studios, and create even more potential hit franchises?

Darkest Hour and Three Billboards aren't eligible for the WGA Awards (and also Coco and a few other movies, but no one cares about them, so...)
Keep in mind though that being ineligible doesn't automatically shut scripts out of the Oscar race.

I'd hate to be working at Blue Sky right now.
I don't think Disney will keep them around. That's 500 jobs.
Ehh...
Ice Age and Rio are popular enough properties Disney would likely want to exploit. If anything, having the marketing muscle of Disney would probably make their movies gross more money than what they currently do.

Is this in 3D?
Because I think going the Tron Legacy route (real world in 2D/virtual world in 3D) to make the "Oasis" enticing (it looks like a hideous epilepsy-inducing hell) is the only way to make this appealing to GA beyond hardcore gamers and nostalgia geek quadrant.
Cue someone saying everybody hates 3D and want it to die. Well, then RIP RPO.
Yes. (Also, 3D sucks)
