This and Ant-Man's marketing both suffer the same problem of "we're gonna take this intentionally small-scale and goofy silliness and make it EPIC and SERIOUS", which just alienates both fans and the GA. But like at least Ant-Man has the excuse of featuring the new Thanos, so it makes a bit more sense to be more dramatic and raise up the stakes. Shazam has no reason to act all "epic". It's so dumb.

The best Bondsnan movie and I will fight anybody who says otherwise. 💅

Because the screenplay sucks and it's a bad movie in general apart from those elements. In all seriousness, it was probably the 11th or 12th nomination, but other movies just had more going for them.

All told, one of the better show productions I felt. The cut to music was garbage and there's a couple cringy stuff like the Cocaine Bear, but a pleasant awards show with good speeches is a rarity for the Academy, so I commend it.

All the acting winners were from A24 movies. This has to be a first time for a studio to win all the awards, right?
