  2. I also like Grinch with nice animation, fun slapstick, decent heart and Pharell Williams as a narrator. Sorry you don't care about that stuff.
  3. I was gone for a few hours. What went down in the weekend thread? There's some rando complaining about male moderators or whatever, and I'm pretty sure a few posts got removed lol
  4. At least in Philly, Thursday got hit hard by the snowstorms. However, weather was fine yesterday and today, although maybe some roads might still had to be closed on Friday.

  6. I'm not the best at extrapolating numbers, but 2012 had the same calendar configuration, and its drops are nowhere near as bad-looking as what it seems like these will be at. https://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/?yr=2012&wknd=46&p=.htm Although to be fair, there was only one wide opener that weekend, while we have three 2,800+ openers this weekend.

  8. At last, the Internet has offered something beautiful

  10. https://pro.boxoffice.com/long-range-tracking-dogs-way-home-upside/ Ralph: 52 (+4%)/210(+5%) Robin Hood: 9 (-10%)/28 (-7%) Possession of Hannah Grace: 2.5/5 Aquaman: 55 (+10%)/210 (+14%) A Dog's Way Home: 12/40 The Upside: 13/39 Feel like both Dog's Way Home and Upside are a little too low tbh.
  11. A good part of it might have to do with marketing. Say what you will about the trailer, but it definitely hooked audiences and made the film seem fun and a must-see. Beasts' trailers, at least to me, were just kinda average and nothing special. The only hook that it had was that it had more Potter iconography, which arguably might have limited its appeal than enhanced it. If it weren't for the fact that my dad was a massive Potterhead, I probably wouldn't have seen it in the theater. Of course I'm saying this as someone who didn't care for the first Fantastic Beasts at all.
  12. It's really simple: money. Studios get a little profit to add into their totals, and movie theaters will generate higher traffic on a typically slow night. It's really no worse than opening at 7 on a Thursday. Though if Disney does this tactic with Episode IX while I'm busy with finals, I'm gonna fly to Burbank and fist fight Bob Iger.
  13. Us also seems like a movie that should have a trailer already. Get Out had its first trailer 4 months before the movie came out. Us will be out in 4 months, and we've got nothing. Of course, it's not really a movie that needs a trailer so far out, but still.
  14. Runtimes w/out credits and attachments for next week: Ralph Breaks the Internet: 1:40. Dumbo and both Toy Story 4 trailers are attachments (don't know if that means both trailers or the theater decides which one to play.) There's also a Thank You attached as well. Robin Hood: 1:44. Cold Pursuit and Five Feet Apart are attachments. Creed 2: 2:02. If Beale Street Could Talk, Vice, and The Prodigy are attachments. Surprised neither Hellboy and especially Chaos Walking aren't getting attached with Robin Hood.
