  1. Probably should get around to watching Lady Macbeth w/ Pugh now being in everything. Also cool to see Sid from Toy Story's getting more work.
  2. FWIW, I remember when Top Gun 2 was first announced, my parents seemed pretty excited for it, so I can see it tapping into an older audience and be a modest hit (I'm currently predicting somewhere in the $105M range)
  3. Predictions for the other 2019 IMAX movies because I'm bored: -Lego -Dumbo -Aladdin -Men in Black -Top Gun -Hobbs and Shaw (sharing with New Mutants) -Charlie's Angels -Joker (maybe also sharing with Gemini Man?) -Jungle Cruise -Bond -Terminator -Jumanji Maybe John Wick, Pets 2, or Cowboy Ninja Viking can squeeze in there?
  4. Bit confused as to why Dumbo and especially Aladdin weren't mentioned in the IMAX press release. Guess Disney wants to push their Marvel movies more?
  5. Somewhere around $140-$160M sounds about right for the movie, which I think Sony would be satisfied with, as even with the aliens and other VFX work, this will probably cost around Jumanji in the $100-130M range, which will be fine if OS matches or surpasses it. It should also benefit from being the only major tentpole next June that isn't an animated release. (Yeah, I know there's Cowboy Ninja Viking, but...come on)
  6. Haven't seen Fallout yet, so I can't compare, but I'm confident in saying that M:I's is probably better. Spy's is fine, well-shot and choreographed and whatnot, but nothing extraordinary. In all honesty, it really takes you out of what's supposed to be a silly raunchy comedy.
  7. Genndy Tartarsauce's best work yet. Samurai Jack could never.
  8. I still think it has enough interest for somewhere in the 30s, which should ensure the film reaching $100M.
  9. The Spy Who Dumped Me July 27, 7PM, 5% full Trailers A Simple Favor ("That looks good") Robin Hood ("That seems like something Dad would love") Despite the small crowd, there were some decent chuckles, and a few big laughs over stuff Kate McKinnon did. Mom thought it was a bit silly and gory, but she thought Kate McKinnon was funny.
  10. It's actually kinda amazing how weird and out of place the violence is, to the point where it feels like two different movies. The worst example is near the beginning,
  11. It's pretty mediocre. The cast tries their best, and Kate McKinnon has a couple of funny moments, but most of the jokes aren't very funny, and it's got really bad tonal whiplash. The action scenes are fine and are decently shot, but they're surprisingly really intense, gory and gratuitous, which really takes you out of the film. One minute, somebody gets their neck cracked, or they get impaled, or they get shot in the head, then the next minute Kunis and McKinnon are cracking jokes about Minions and vaginas. Wouldn't recommend.

  13. I know I'm being clouded by my bias and my love for her, but I can see a scenario where Daisy Ridley could become an A-lister. She's the only new actor from the ST who is getting big material from major studios with Orient Express, Peter Rabbit, and maybe the new Liman joint. With a few more strong non-Star Wars movies, she could be the Harrison Ford of the group. Adam Driver and Oscar Isaac are also working with every indie/prestige director under the sun, so they'll probably get some solid work over the next few years, although I do see Driver getting better opportunities. Not really super confident in Boyega just yet, but he can probably carve out his own niche like Mark Hamill has.
  14. Oh yeah, and Michael B. Jordan seems like he can really be an A-list draw in a few years. He's already got Creed and Black Panther, so he's really just two or three big movies away from hitting the big time.
  15. Chris Pine always seems like a guy who is this close to being a draw, but since Star Trek is the only thing he gets leads for, he's forced to be sidelined and can't be as big as the other A-listers. Dude's in a lot of successful stuff in the past, he's super talented, all the stuff you need. Blame it on Jack Ryan I guess.
