So...you're kind of right on the first one. I'm only looking at Jungle Cruise's Thursday sales but I'm also comparing it to Cruella's Thursday and Friday sales because by that point, I was looking at both days at a time when Thursday previews weren't regularly reported like they are now. And yes, I know that using two days as a basis for just one day isn't ideal, but this is the hand I was given and I have to use it. -
Yeah summer 1989 was just a bonkers time for movies and box office. You've got all those record openers, with Batman pretty much redefining blockbuster grosses. This was basically right when sequels and franchises started to become more and more common, which...well whether that's a good thing is up to you. Then you got Lethal Weapon 2 having a Rush Hour/Austin Powers style box office explosion from the first movie, Honey I Shrunk the Kids becoming the biggest live-action Disney project in history, Star Trek V seeing a franchise record opening before imploding, classics like Dead Poets Society and When Harry Met Sally hitting the scene, Uncle Buck serving as a precursor to Home Alone, indie hits like Do the Right Thing and Sex Lies and Videotape kickstarting Spike Lee and Soderbergh's careers, The Abyss having Cameron dazzle people with effects just before T2 changed everything, UHF giving us a glimmer at a world where Weird Al controlled Hollywood movies (God I wish we were in that timeline). You add in Nirvana and Public Enemy and summer 1989 was legitimately insane stuff.

In fact, sales in general were really quiet today. Hope this isn't foreboding or anything. -

Yes, spoiler tagging is a must. I'm not gonna read it because I want to go in blind however. -

Isn't this rated R? And just looking at the trailers, it's pretty clear this is gritty, gruesome stuff. -

Moderation Yeah we're not doing this anymore. Every time EmpireCity comes around here and reports something people don't like it becomes a massive brouhaha and I'm sick of it. @Ethan Hunt you don't have to listen or like what he has to say, but you're fighting fire with fire and are making things worse. If you don't like what he has to say, ignoring him just makes things so much easier for all of us. -

Dude I’m autistic. And as an autistic, let me tell you the mainstream ideals that autism is something that must be cured is hurtful, anti-disability stuff
-
Well I mean "Let's fight autism" also has a lot of toxic and gross implications too, but I get where you are coming from though.

I guess I should also mention I'm not exactly giddy about getting this Snake Eyes trailer all the time and I'm confused by a lot of people here thinking the film looks okay. Though I'll admit the GI Joe PSA parody they did was quite good. Definitely persuaded me to see it more than any of the trailers did. Still rooting for it just on the grounds of "good box office = happy Eric" and well...gotta support MrPink in these times of crisis.
