So you're saying that Gunn's reboot is dead on arrival?
Or at least has a very steep hill to climb.

Don't see why the general public would have any interest in this third (or is it maybe fourth?) reboot of FF now, when the MCU brand is in the gutter. Unless something changes there we're looking at yet another superhero movie bomb.

All those movies were movies that sold themselves. I can also sell The Liong King or Avengers 37. I don't need Disney for that. They are incapable of selling a movie that needs effort. They are trash that is destroying the industry and already crushed the existence of Fox. They are a disease. They are by far the worst and most incompetent of the big 5 because all they know how to do to sell a movie is a barrage of TV spots. The only worst studio is the one-that-shall-not-be-named. I straight up refuse to acknowledge them, that is how bad they are. It is offensive for their movies to do so. I think Disney might go down that path on September 29. Disney is unreedemable. Fuck Disney. Fuck Netflix. Fuck the studio that shall not be named.
Now I want to know.
Which is that other worst studio?

I also saw SOF. My Cinemark showing was almost sold out, just the front row was empty (probably a 50 seat auditorium). The crowd was older (average age 50ish) and white. Last time, I saw a movie with this type of crowd was Hacksaw Ridge. I thought the movie was okay, kinda of a bore but leaving the theater I saw some people in tears.
What is it about this movie that people of that demographic like?
I see on Wikipedia that it seems to promote Qanon theories, is that the answer, or is it more to it?

Thursday previews and Friday?

I liked the first JW and still did during a HBO re-watch his year. Can't remember anything from JW2 though, so will be giving this one a pass and wait for streaming.
Ok, would probably still have gone, but no one I know wants to see it, and it's really not worth going to the cinema alone for it.

all the people who have been celebrating marvel getting its first rotten movie on RT from critics are going to be disappointed when Eternals opens to 75M-100M this weekend.
I don't see how that would affect its rotten status?

Hmm, maybe my $200 MUSD domestic guess was too optimistic. Oh, well.

That really is a great point that needed to be made.
Some of them probably still want more paychecks from Disney.
Others, who have quit the MCU, might not care, or disagrees with ScarJo for whatever reason.

This seems like an enjoyable movie. I will look forward to watching it in two months.

How do people not see the over saturation of the streaming services coming ?
There's an easy solution, just subscribe to one, or a few, streaming service(s) at a time and switch to another when you run out of things you want to watch.

can we just ban Grace here. I have never seen one single useful thing from her except... you know.
Well, I don't ... know what?

I agree. Buying for $20 streaming rights is like lighting money on fire. There is no comparison when it comes to VHS to DVD versus Blu-ray to streaming
Yeah, with streaming you can watch much, much more for $20 compared to DVD/BD.

Because there are way too many factors to gauge that. It seems like you're just assuming that this will just mean more people will pay to watch the movie but there's nothing to indicate that that's quite true. We don't even have any numbers from Disney+ to gauge how well any of these PA movies did.
No, we don't.
But guess who does?

Looks promising.
If it turns out as good as Skull Island, I might subscribe to HBO.

There's only so many streaming services you can pay for before it all starts costing an arm and a leg.
Sure, but one month of Disney+ should be a fair bit cheaper than a cinema ticket.
(Assuming you wait until it's generally available and not as a premium movie.)

Then I wouldn't be able to see it, which is a bummer.
Why not?

As was said...totally OUT of ideas...
Huh. Is Gibson still up for this? And does anyone want to see him anymore?

Exactly. WB is desperate to get more subscribers for HBO Max. Disney+ has Mandalorian going on right now and WandaVision next month. HBO Max doesn't have any series close to popularity of those two.
If they want more subscribers, why limit the service to US territories?

Looking forward to watching this on Disney+.
(Don't think I will return to theaters until Summer 2022 at the earliest)

Won't be seeing any more movies this year, so sadly missing Black Widow.
Will be waiting for Disney+ to reach my country at some point.

Has anything been revealed giving a reason to care about this movie yet?
Personally not that interested in a prequel about a now dead character, would seem better for the MCU to look forward and not backwards.
