I read Five Nights At Freddy's is now going to Peacock on the 26th, before previews.

My one thing with FNAF, though other people can voice what they think and if they disagree, is I kind of doubt this will fizzle out into a big multiplier. It's a (very) fan driven property with a huge novelty factor which will be hampered to at least some degree by being on Peacock and the (most likely judging by the lifting of the embargo) negative reviews. That being said, I feel like 30-40 for this would still be insanely impressive.
Peacock will also lead to piracy, I feel the target audience for this will know how to illegally stream a movie, they may go see it opening weekend but opt for a pirate copy for further screenings.

"Chart Movers
You don’t think of horror in November, but THANKSGIVING is looking to change all that. Tracking suggests that it’s got a shot to break out. Awareness for the film is 8 points this week. Interest is up 6 points. Scary good."

How do we trick all of America into seeing this?

Will bad reviews hurt FNAF sales that much? We have seen a young-skewing videogame movie with meh RT score explode beyond any reasonable expectation this year (and I am not talking about Gran Turismo here).
And we have also seen many horror movies with terrible critic scores have solid walk-ups (most recently Insidious).
Meh, I think bad word of mouth would hurt it more. It could rock 100% on rotten tomatoes but if the fans hate it then it will drop hard.
The only think that would hurt it now is if it is bad and it leaked online now.
Has there every been a hotly anticipated movie that was selling really well but turned out to be terrible? The only one I can think of is Batman V Superman.

The most recent full trailer did get 15 million YouTube views on the official account in 11 days, which is quite big.
But yeh I think it’ll be a very quick run. Needs to make all of its money in about 10 days then Thanksgiving is over.
If I'm looking forwards to it, it normally doesn't do much.

I am!
My most anticipated film for the rest of the year.
(All of us Strangers is a 2024 release here unfortunately).
I get the feeling it will bomb.

They should release a Spiral 2 and Saw XI.
-
I remember someone on these forums said Saw was dead after Jigsaw and they'd never make any more.

I feel like I'm the only person hyped for Thanksgiving.

Go Saw X! I remember someone on these boards was saying there wouldn't be anymore after Jigsaw.

It always pisses me off that the MPAA cut the Friday The 13th movies to ribbons and we'll probably never seen them uncut.

I just realised I've yet to see the trailer for Five Nights At Freddy's in cinema.

Saw X doing well?
-
Can someone please change the title, having the five be a 5 is driving me insane.

I remember being told by someone who works at the BBFC that There Will Be Blood got a 12A and then they bumped it up to a 15 because the distributor asked for it with an appeal. Dunno if that's going on with any of these soft horror movies.
Is that even a horror movie?

Uk studios must really hate The Woman In Black.
-
That good for Saw?

Still hilarious how The Devil Inside had such a great marketing campaign and then didn't even have a proper ending. We all know about the ending though, so the other huge misleading thing was the poster itself
That blind nun was in all the posters and her screentime in the movie is literally one second. The protagonists pass by her on their way to the church or wherever.
I remember after opening weekend there was plenty of talk about a sequel, that all quietly went away.
-
The thing I don't get is wasn't there a press screening of this a week ago? Why have one ao early if the reviews are going to drop so late?
-
I read the review and social media embargo for this lifts October 27th.

Rated a 15 here and with no streaming alternative (no Peacock) and no one under 15 can legally go, even if accompanied.
Could cut off a lot of its audience. I’m getting the impression it’s biggest with 8-12 year olds, but I might be wrong.
Wonder if there’ll be a huge difference in US vs UK gross because of it.
Most people I know that are looking forwards to it said they're just going to stream it anyway.

If the film really is bad, you think that could ruin Blumhouse reputation with teens?
