  1. Can someone explain the "Puerto Rico" thing to me please?
  2. AoU will make more tonight than half the marvel films leading up to it made in their OW.
  3. This really shouldn't be surprising anyone... The sequel to the highest grossing film since Avatar is breaking records? Stop the presses!
  4. Well, we're only 18 hours into this 72 hour roller coaster...
  5. "Age of Ultron" Opening Day levels, in terms of other MCU films Opening Weekends: Thor 2: 85m Guardians of the Galaxy: 94m Captain America 2: 95m Iron Man: 98m I'm pulling for an Iron Man kind of day.
  6. How many times does it need to be said that the five extra hours are not relevant? DHII had more showings with it's midnights than AoU had all last night, I garuntee it. EDIT: Alright, now I see your username. Have fun with that in the long run.
  7. You can tell a discussion is getting out of control when the posts are coming in at a faster pace than anyone can read them all...
  8. I'm on page 44 right now but replying anyways to this pointless Harry Potter vs AoU previews/midnights debate. Your comparing the wrong elements. It's not the hours that matter, it's the amount of screenings. Last night, my local megaplex with 23 screens had 11 AoU showings from 7pm to close. Two of those were after midnight showings. For Deathly Hollows II, they had 23 showings, on all 23 of their screens, at midnight, and many theaters did the same thing, locally, and nationwide. The demand for those midnights were much higher than the AoU previews due to the "finale factor" of the franchise that many people tend to ignore. You also cant compare a preview nigt in APRIL (technically) to one in the middle of July. AoU and DHII are completely different beasts. Stop comparing them.
  9. People who want to see the movie, but can't do so on Saturday night, will do so Friday night, Saturday afternoon, or Sunday.
  10. It's not like the people watching the fight can see the movie at any other point during the weekend, right? No way they would simply see AoU at a time that doesn't conflict with the fight. That's asking too much.
  11. TDKR and DHII are bad comparisons for midnights, Both those movies had the "franchise finale" factor in it's favor, which was played heavily into the marketing, creating a sense you had to see te movie before, or along with, everyone else in the world. AoU doesn't have that urgency. The midnight number is great for AoU. 100 OD in play.
