How is LSC trending here in India? Are we seeing another $100m (800 crore) hit?

Trailer looks like shit! Looks like an insult to classic like Forrest Gump...no buzz as of now...lets see how it turns out to be as the release date gets closer

    TOHO Cinema Shinjuku

Listing shows for 15 July, 2022 (Fri)

    22 shows - Kingdom 2

    12 shows - Minions 2

    07 shows - Thor: Love &Thunder

06 shows - Top Gun Maverick

Kingdom 2 will have more seats nationwide....!

So, ¥1000M+ OW is leaning more towards Kingdom 2 then Minions...!!!

    :ohmygod:

Looks like TGM will slow down from this weekend considering the fact that it will face a cut in showtimes at this level....is 10B possible now?

screen issue or cinemagoing issue in in North India. South is doing great.

I didn't mean that if you aren't watching films you are poor. I am saying having low income makes it tough to watch movies. And low income households we have ALOT.

Yup but that cannot be the only factor why ppl dont watch movies is what i am trying to say 😄

Ill give you my case...as long as SRK's movies used to release every year i used to watch his movies in theater by default and used to follow bolly stuff too and watch some in theaters....since Dec-2018 when zero released i have lost interest in hindi movies itself...i have hardly watched any hindi movies in theaters since then....

North India basically implies non-South here. The cow belt has poor cinema infrastructure. South has a strong movie going culture. Non-south don't. Only around 15-20 crores India really goes to cinema, of which half or more would be in 4 states of South.

Around 80% of country make less than ₹15k a month. Cinema tix are like ₹150 a piece, a cinema visit to family of 4 cost ₹1k. A family earning ₹15k a month can't afford that.

    images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQlIuSSWZSMGMJZxjXIGgs

    1. That is my point....just because North india has this we cannot say people arent watching movies enuf just because they are poor...there are many reasons behind this if you compare footfalls of North back in 70s 80s 90s...income might be just one of the factors, others are lack of content/relatability, theater infra like u said, connectivity etc...

    2. We cannot equate cinema affordability to poor here...watching movies are a choice...its upto an individual or a family...lets take coastal Karnataka and Malenadu as example...they do not have strong movie going culture like rest of KA...doesnt mean they are poor...these 2 regions are richer other districts of KA...rich in resources....etc...

Not buying a ticket and watching in theater doesnt give a clear picture on what level are the ppl financially sound. Some ppl just watch big stuff once in a year like RRR, KGF2, Charlie, Vikram etc...while others based on WoM...many sub sets involved in determining...will ppl watch/ do not watch in theaters

Mickey has a point. I love the MI series, but try some new things pls

Mickey spoke like a total jealous douchebag. He made this statement just to make sure he stays in spotlight for a bit.

TC wouldn't have reached this superstardom and maintained the same for 40yrs in Hollywood if he hadn't done something new! His acceptance is not among one section of audience...its much more than that

  10. 3 hours ago, charlie Jatinder said:

I  can generalise this statement. India is a poor country. The cinemas aren't opening but closing in smaller towns in North India. Its a catch 22 situation, where cinemas there were in poor quality, they couldn't renovate because audience was limited and audience were limited because cinema was in poor quality.

You are mixing generalized statement with Poor...

    1. You cannot generalize with regards to North india only as there are other parts of india like west east north east and south...agree that quality of single screens in most of the places are not good...but you need to look at the reach of plexes in sub urbs, towns, villages...off course capacity may not touch single screens but number of screens in a plex will increase the overall screen count in a place!

    2. India is a poor country....you really cannot classify india as a poor country...we have huge regional disparity...lets take a comparison of west india...Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa....these 3 states are growing big and their Per capita income too is way above National average and HDI too they stand in medium to high category......take North & east india states like UP, Bihar, CG and JH are developing but they actually pull down your overall statistics...its just a matter of time that these states will definitely catch up with its peers!

The rest did less than 1M lc over the weekend. No data on DS2 so not sure if it passed The Avengers.

The black phone will pass TGM here!!! Amazing run for a horror movie here...probably will be its biggest market by end of its run OS.

Why has there been no big Bollywood movie in a while now. No marquee release since Samrat Prithviraj which bombed.

Shamshera looks like it's mounted on a grand scale at the very least and might be able to break through. From the trailers, it's definitely the more appealing of the 2 Ranbir movies.

Bollywoods lineup this year and next doesnt seem to interesting knor does it have that wow factor among general audiences!

SRK after back to back disasters is making a comeback next year with 3 releases....keeping my expectations low as i have no hopes considering the fact that irrespective of directors track record or consistency movie might flop for sure...hope this helps industry!
