I genuinely want to find out who thought the second half of Zero, and the entire movie of Thugs was a good idea.

Zero was a good concept which goes in a really really weird direction in the second half for no reason at all. Thugs is just a bad idea from conception, someone at some point should have said no to Aditya Chopra.

Zero was very bad move from SRK and especially anand rai who had given good movies like ranjhana, tanu weds manu series...there was nothing good about the movie right from the beginning...even now i am not sure if the concept was good as the end result made me puke while watching my fav actor in bollywood (not now) on big screen.

one scene in particular where there is a cameos by bollywood actresses was peaks of cringe!

Thugs had disastrous director...if not we would have had indian PoTC!

    Spider-man 3 ~ 10M

    2012 ~ 10M

    Avatar ~ 10M

    Furious 7 ~ 12M

    Jurassic World ~ 11M

    Avengers: Infinity War - 17.5M

    Avengers: Endgame - 21.5M

    The Lion King - 11M

Spider-man: No Way Home - 10M Approx so far

NWH when compared to jungle book and IW has a difference of 15cr and 50crs in Gross.

however in terms of admissions there is huge difference 8-9m...is it because of market growth, high ticket prices for spidey?

  3. Love this movie. I came to know after many years that this was remade in 2 indian languages namely Hindi and tamil by kamal hassan...the reason was i saw the remade version first and doubtfire later.

The film earned $219,195,243 in the United States and Canada, and $222,090,952 in other countries, for a worldwide total of $441,286,195, making it Fox's highest-grossing film internationally at the time and the highest-grossing cross-dressing film. It became the second-highest-grossing film of 1993, behind only Jurassic Park.

Box Office Mojo estimates that the film sold over 52.6 million tickets in the US. It had a record opening for Fox in the United Kingdom with $5.8 million in 6 days (and the third best in the country after Jurassic Park and Bram Stoker's Dracula) and went on to gross $30.1 million, a Fox record. It had the second biggest opening in Italy behind Jurassic Park with $2.9 million and also grossed a record for Fox in Italy with $15.6 million. It also had record openings for Fox in France (with a opening week gross of $4.8 million and a total of $23 million), Belgium, Hungary and Denmark. It grossed $29.6 million in Germany. The film was number one at the Australian box office and Japanese box office for nine consecutive weeks.

    Yes APTS is 110.

Day 1 Gross is ₹38.2cr in India and ₹35.7cr in APTS.

    Nizam - ₹11.7cr (₹7.8cr share)

    Ceeded - ₹5.1cr (₹4.5cr share)

    Andhra - ₹18.8cr (₹10.7cr worth share + ₹7.1cr hires)

    Total - ₹35.7cr (₹30.2cr share)

Nizam and Ceeded are actual gross. Andhra is estimated a bit due to hires. What I do is, take worth share + an assumed % of hires recovered on day 1. Those 7.1cr are for full run, I take depending on the performance of film, % hires recovered. For VS I took 35%, so ₹13.2cr estimated share for the day and based on that ₹18.8cr gross.

Thanks for the detailed info but how come ABO arrived at 45cr....they seem have updated on Dec-16-2021...came across just now 🤔

  6. Spiderman - No Way Home Has Very Good Second Week
    Friday 31 December 2021 13.30 IST

Spiderman No Way Home collected 41.50 crore nett in its second week taking its total to almost 190 crore nett. The film will should beat the numbers of Sooryavanshi over the weekend to become the highest grossing film in India this year.

It will beat Sooryavanshi but it is running in a neck to neck race with the Telugu film Pushpa - The Rise which also stands at around 190 crore nett after two weeks and both films released in the same week with Spiderman - No Way Home releasing one day earlier. It remains to be seen which film comes out on top in the final count though the odds are on the side of Pushpa as the Hindi version of that film alone will start to challenge Spiderman - No Way Home in the third week.

The film will probably fall short of the 228 crore nett of Infinity War which is the second highest grossing Hollywood film in India. It will be the third Hollywood film to cross the 200 crore nett mark in India. The business of Spiderman - No Way Home till date is as follows.

    Week One - 1,48,06,00,000

    Friday - 6,75,00,000 apprx

    Saturday - 10,00,00,000 apprx

    Sunday - 10,00,00,000 apprx

    Monday - 4,50,00,000 apprx

    Tuesday - 3,75,00,000 apprx

    Wednesday - 3,50,00,000 apprx

    Thursday - 3,00,00,000 apprx

    Second Week - 41,50,00,000 apprx

Watched it and it's good actually. They can always release it to OTT anyway.

Maybe, RRR will postponed too, if it happens during new year's 1st week and 2nd it can salvage things.

I don't see this movie growing... i  heard from ppl who have watched it saying movie is good but it just did not create that must watch or interest factor among other audiences.

This one along with Sooryavanshi was overhyped to large extent....latter passed while former failed big time!

  9. This ones definitely a Good movie.

Watched it on Disney+ Hotstar few days back.

Doesn't deserve such a disastrous BO result but yea let's face it that's the harsh truth.

Jodie was the star all the way. She showed her vulnerability beautifully in the movie, felt bad what her character had to go through amongst morons. Damon kind of nailed it too and affleck was adequate, however i was disappointed with adam drivers performance.

Beautiful visuals helped to elevate several dramatic scenes overall.

PS: Jodie deserves Best actress and off topic Andrew Garfield for Tick tick Boom!

Pacino has more successes even something as problematic and hated as Cruising opened big back in the day, heck his worst wide opening for over a decade post comeback City Hill still managed a PTA of over 4,000 on its opening weekend, but also, he tended to take less traditional risks and supporting roles then DeNiro did in his prime. Love him, but I couldn't see Pacino doing something like Raging Bull for example. The other thing about DeNiro is that most of his biggest hits or good openers were generally well-received films, and or looked interesting / kinda cool, movies like Ronin, the Scorsese collaborations (Goodfellas, Casino), Heat with Pacino etc... all had solid numbers on their opening weekends.

DeNiro's best run at the box office in fact, was post Meet the Parents, where he had five 10m + openers in a row, and was always paired with some younger hot actor of the time, and yes his paychecks were getting increasingly high. He got 17.5m for Showtime alone. I get the sense that he was more concerned about his movies doing well around the time, hence the shift to more absurd palatable "stupid comedy". In comparison Pacino floundered a bit more, but still had a little bit of an audience left. By that point, neither were at the height of their powers, however.

Pacino when compared De Niro kind of balanced art/award winning movies and BO success movies. Raging Bull yes it was a De Niro kind of movie and he nailed it but even De Niro couldn't have done some roles which Pacino nailed...basically they were written or made for these 2 specifically!

Like you say, De Niro best BO run was post meet the parents but none of his hit were something which he pulled alone...like he was the star...it always had a backup or some kind of padding in the form of other lead actor...surely he was overpaid but was it his Great actor tag which got him such paychecks for some of his worst movies?

17.5m for showtime 🤯 man who were the producers...it cost like 80-90m to make and WW it barely touched 75-80m...eddie and de niro inflated the budget with their paychecks

  11. Pacino had solo hits as well as hits as a supporting actor, but De Niro has lots and lots of misses,  looking at the available data i.e wiki, BO Mojo, some articles etc.

De Niro had very less solo hits but scored more success when he had other main lead like the meet the parents series, Cop Land (Decent success), Analyze This, Silver linings, Jackie Brown, Heat etc.

Pacino on the other hand has quite good number of them like And Justice for all, Dog day afternoon, Serpico, Scarface, Sea of Love, scent of women, Frankie and Johnny,Carlitos way, The recuit etc.

With this level of success i wonder how did De Niro get a good paycheck?

Discuss. Please feel free to correct me where i may have misjudged.

One thing, I do not understand why a political party "CCP" is blamed when a Marvel film isn't releasing in Mainland China. I believe many will get mad if Hollywood films follow Japanese way of entering Chinese Market (3 years after Japanese Premerie), but still Chinese fans and audience show love to our works even if it has made a way less money in Japan.

I believe that a delay release does not meant less money unless the work is appealing to audience.

    For example:

My Neighbor Toroto was release in China in 2018 while it's japanese premerie was back in 1980s but still has make $41M. Another example, Spirited Away, who took all-time highest grossing film in Japan from Titanic back in 2001, has heavily pirated through out China, but the work is the second highest grossing Japanese film in Mainland China with a gross of $71M in 2019.

      Hide contents

I know some people are frustated over delayed release but there must be patience. Do not just simply blame without a good reason. CFA is completely an independant board. What I know is that It's a two months process for a release date within three months and nine months process for same day release as of home country. TMS studio went for 9 months process for Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet for same day release in China as of Japan, providing one of the biggest non-Demon Slayer OW ($40M)

Why doesn't China follow open market policy like other countries with regards to movies?

All these problems/blame game wouldn't crop up if there was open market without any restrictions or moderate restrictions!

It's because of mocking Chinese culture, including Persona grata in their films as their casting.........this list will never end. NWH doesn't seem to have any problem but it just doesn't have a release date due to boycott of 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics by its home country "US" and also because of "Marvel" logo in the film. Sony actually can solve this in a day by removing "Marvel" logo but their home country has already taken much disaster steps like diplomatic boycott on Winter Olympics, sanction on human rights..... Making the film struck forever...

Marvel has never mocked Chinese culture AFAIK...infact they have been duly respected and provided representation of Chinese stories, characters etc.

Don't bet on it bub. Remember his good friend director Sam Rami is directing Dr strange 2( so rami has also been wooed to do sh films again) and has said He's not against him and tobey working together again and doing a spiderman 4.  I rem some haters  saying tobey won't be back as spidey.  Things change fox. And tobey spidey less face it is the guy fans domestically and worldwide have bought the most tickets to see.

Sony and Disney paid tobey between 15-25 million, and they definitely plan to do more with the biggest ticket seller and most loved PP/Spiderman. Go checkout how much the two companies sought Maguire out. He was paid so many millions more than both Spider-Man actors( that speaks volumes). Never say never, because theres millions of fans that want the original spidey back in his own stand alone films.💪💪. Sony and disney have always wanted tobey back. Just watch. Good things ahead for the ultimate sm. And if they do stand alone films with Tobey maguire Spider-Man, millions will buy.

    It's simple as that.

Fun fact: sony paid tobey Maguire nearly 20 million plus 7% of the 890 million sm3 made way back on 2007(approximately 63million)

Thats how much power Maguire wields in this role folks.

How much was Andrew Paid for NWH? Tobey and andrew deserves huge paychecks for this...the hype these 2 created was way beyond our imagination!

  15. Spiderman - No Way Home First Tuesday Business

Spiderman No Way Home did well again on Tuesday as it collected another 10.5-11 crore nett taking its six day total to 130 crore nett. The business of the film is around 28 crore nett in Mumbai circuit with Maharashtra on 50% occupancy while Delhi / UP is around 22.50 crore nett which is a superb number and it looks like its on its way to beat Sooryavanashi in Delhi / UP.

Spiderman - No Way Home will beat Sooryavanshi in Delhi / UP, East Punjab and West Bengal out of the Hindi circuits. In South the film has notched up around 17 crore nett in Nizam / Andhra in direct competition with Pushpa. The collections here have held up very well after the drop on day two.

The film looks on course to becoming the first 200 crore nett plus film in India post the pandemic but a lot depends on the second Friday. the Telugu film Pushpa is also in this race and that film also depends on the second Friday. Pushpa has an edge at the moment but collections are dropping faster than Spiderman - No Way Home. The business of Spiderman - No Way Home till date is as follows.

    Thursday - 32,75,00,000 apprx

    Friday - 20,00,00,000 apprx

    Saturday - 26,25,00,000 apprx

    TOTAL - 1,31,00,00,000 apprx

Actuals came a bit lower...the monday fig seems to be around 2-2.2m...definitely has chances but at an all india level...there are some biggies like 83 and Jersey releasing next 2 weekends back to back and matrix released today which means reduction in shows for spidey in plexes...36m should be doable i guess

That's what I have noticed for their past films, this time however diff is a lot.

Also way I understood, I thought the gross/nett numbers include the 3D charges but I am told that it is likely they didn't and Sony is getting share of 3D charges so including them in gross.

    Will see how it goes.

Do theaters still charge for 3D? i have watched in 3D and IMAX 3D no separate charges...years back i remember for some hollywood movie paying 30 or 50 for glasses! 🤔
