  1. It can only be objectively judged on the box office. Is your reading comprehension so poor? "Location: Sacramento"... ah is the infamous modern American education system rearing its ugly head again? As for your banal ad hominem... try again, I've stated many times before, I am no "fan" of Cameron. I study the man's life and work, a key difference.
  2. Yes, I believe so. Next time I'll buy a pallet. They're up on the online store now though. Can't wait to buy myself a model Hometree.
  3. Avatar is certainly Jim's weakest film is we take it from the perspective of subjectively disliked and talked about in a negative light by Anglo-Centric internet posting people. If we're going by the only objective measure of a movie's worth though money in the bank, then it's nonsense.
  4. Given the success of Pandora at Disney we can expect some serious merchandise to be shifted.
  5. Without a doubt (maybe). I think I mentioned it before in the Franchise Thread, but yes, I wonder if there is any data on merchandise sold per franchise etc. I know for example that Frozen has the best selling Blu Ray of all time.
  6. I don't play video games but found this chart interesting. Really crazy money on the table here, which makes me wonder why we have yet to see a grand theft auto movie.
  7. My brain can't compute the concept of Jim and weakness in the same sentence... unless said sentence was "Jim Cameron has no weakness." or something similar.
  8. Lets also not forget each sequel could make exactly $0 and it would still be profitable based on A1 alone.
  9. I'm really looking forward to Phase 4 actually, excited to see what they do with "fresh" content, so to speak.
  10. You're the one clutching at straws. Moving goal posts. If you're going to try and make smart comments like 'a little boxoffice history' then at least learn to be consistent.
  11. This is all I needed to see. James Cameron sequels are, much like Jim, the rest of his movies, his vision, and people's expectations of him... the exception to the rule. The cognitive dissonance that surrounds the man and his work is astounding.
  12. Since Tawasal is too afraid - could you post Alien vs Aliens and T1 vs T2 for me Lothar?
  13. Lothar my friend, you're being idiotic - we can use Terminator to Terminator 2 as a perfectly fine comparison. It's why I am not at all joking when I say I believe A2 can do over 10B WW.
  14. That's it. Move the goal posts Pathetic. Would comparing them really be such a task? You were so keen just a short time ago to give us all "a little boxoffice history".
  15. @tawasal would you pull up the numbers for Alien vs Aliens and Terminator vs Terminator 2?
  16. Careful - this is a dangerous opinion to have... And if you take a look back through the thread you'll see various predictions. I personally think Jim can raise the bar again, although that's not the current zeitgeist here - Jim has been known to prove many people wrong time and time again.
  17. The act of holding two seemingly contradictory positions in ones own head at the same time. For example: We're on a Box Office Theory forum yet people seem to actively dislike discussion around the highest grossing film at the box office of all time. Instead of being in awe of its might/magic/magnificence (or whatever you want to call it).
