  1. Solo isn't an episode, it wasn't much wanted, had well publicised production issues and was released too closely to a main episode movie. We can argue about it until December of you like, but ultimately we will have to wait and see.
  2. The other SW trilogy also follow the same pattern and the quality balance is completely different. It doesn't matter if the second movie is terrible (AOTC) or awesome (ESB) the third always gains half the loss back.
  3. Ive been saying it for years, EP8 will drop by one third from EP7 (it did), and EP9 will recover half that loss. Why do I say that? Because that's exactly what happened with the other 2 SW trilogies. The only question is the opening, where it stands a chance of beating EP7, but likely wont.
  4. EP IX isnt breaking records. It might open bigger than TFA, if the trailers get better before December and it manages to build hype, but its gross will be $770-810M. I think it will open to 230-260M, with no daily records, no preview record.
  5. Both my local modern multiplex and the local flea pit were booked over 95% yesterday, right from 12pm to the last show at 9pm. If anything I'd say my town has more screens than it normally needs, so to see both full all day is unheard of. This is in the UK, where the first weekend rush isn't really such a big thing.
  6. To be fair that list is pretty much garbage. Either grosses or the admissions are way off. Both cant be right. So many cheats and assumptions are made to give us that list.
  7. GoT real audience is bigger than that, HBO only report accounts, not 'viewers'. Even so I agree with the sentiment, it wont hurt the weekend total, only the pattern. I also suspect the audience for GoT crosses over more with Marvel than boxing fans do.
  8. I never said it was a billion live. Its over 100M live, but its not live worldwide on Sunday. Even at 100M that about the same as Endgame might get in ticket sales this weekend. Point is people were saying GoT would have no effect, but its audience is near enough equal. Many fans of both will avoid the cinemas Sunday night, and go earlier in the weekend instead.
  9. Probably right, but again, live viewers for GoT is hard to track since HBO dont give absolute viewing figures, they give accounts viewing. That might be in the region of 15M accounts viewing live tomorrow night in the US, how many of those are 2 or 3 people, or more? GoT may have as many viewers live as EG gets ticket sales for the whole weekend. As I said though, I dont think GoT will hurt Endgames total, but it might push people to Friday or Saturday.
  10. Why because Im pointing out GoT is bigger (it IS), or Avatar is impressive (it IS)? Ive seen it 3 times already, so what do you think? For reference I think Avatar 2 is going to crash and burn, and likely wont go over $1.5B WW.
  11. No, thats why it gets nearly a billion viewers from all sources, legal or not. More people are watching GoT this Sunday through Tuesday than Endgame Friday to Sunday, that's really not debatable. Not really sure why this is controversial to many on here. TV gets more viewers than cinema does.
  12. To be fair he has a point. The 2 biggest franchises ever, one with 10 years of hype and the other with a 22 movie arc might fail to take down a single, random movie that had no built in fanbase at all, no build up, and relatively little hype. Snark aside Endgames success really drives home how incredible Avatars achievement was.
  13. GoT will be spoiled online even more than Endgame, No one I know is picking Endgame over GoT. Remember most people know what to expect, even if only in broad terms from Endgame, GoT this weekend is going to be a complete surprise to everyone.
  14. Watchable copies of Endgame are already on torrent sites. I seriously doubt endgame will affect GoT because GoT fans are at least a rabid, and its on late on Sunday, so most Endgame business will be over then anyway, If anything GoT will have a slight front loading effect on Endgame, pushing people into Friday and Saturday viewings.
  15. Game of thrones is on a premium TV channel, so its instant effect is not huge, and its on late on a Sunday. Its global audience though is likely going to be higher than Endgames, dont doubt that. The first episode of season 8 alone was pirated 55million times, this next episode is going to easily smash that and its legal audience is well over 100 million.
  16. EG is ahead in audience score on all the sites ive looked at today. Its early days though, it will likely soften a bit as more casuals see it. Right now though its #5 all time on IMDB, IW is #60.
  17. Not a flop no, and its drop is expected when you consider that its also the worst Avengers movie. Honestly i think its one the weakest of all MCU movies. I honestly prefer Thor 2.
