'Last Jedi' Grosses Are Collapsing With The Worst Daily Holds Of All 9 Star Wars Movies
-
Great to see DM3 matching Minions as Illumination's highest grossing film in the UK!
-
Here in Dubai this movie is getting a huge campaign everywhere and giant cinema installations
Never seen something quite like that here, not even for FF8, DM3, FF7, Minions or BATB.

FF8 and FF7 I think opened #1 in all markets they opened in 2015 and 2017
DM3 and Minions were #1 in all but 1 or 2 markets they opened in (due to Jurassic World in the case of Minions and an Indian film in the case of DM3 in India).

OS has been updated!
Total Lifetime GrossesDomestic: $264,559,530 25.6% + Foreign: $768,883,847 74.4%

LAST JEDI
2nd day in Italy
Only 600k euros. -52% drop from OD, front loaded.
Comps: DM3's 2nd day was double that.
FF8's 2nd day was almost double that as well.
BTAB was around 900K euros 2nd day IIRC.

Jedi's opening day in Italy:
€ 1.233.026.
For comps, DM3 was 1.5m euros OD and IT was around 1.4m euros OD. FF8 was 1.4m OD I think (not sure about the exact FF8 OD).

Universal Pictures Crosses $5 Billion At Global Box Office Driven By ‘Fate Of The Furious,’ ‘DM3’
Universal Pictures crossed $5 billion at the global box office for the second time in the studio’s 105-year history with The Fate of the Furious and Illumination Entertainment’s Despicable Me 3 revving up their 2017 coffers. The global total to date for the studio, specifically, is $5.003 billion, which breaks out as $1.605 billion domestically and $3.398 billion internationally.
The studio’s second juggernaut — DM3 which released June 30 — ended up grossing $1.03 billion worldwide. What’s staggering is that Illumination films have now collectively made more than $5.7 billion, and the Despicable Me franchise has become the highest-grossing animated film series worldwide. Illumination has two films (Minions & Despicable Me 3) which have grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, a first for any animated franchise. The animation company also can boast two of the top-four highest-grossing animated films of all time.

An OS of $600 million and Dom of $600 million will result in a worldwide total of $1.2 billion. I could see it as the worst case scenario. But I don't see it getting that low. That figure is even lower than BatB and Furious 8. Realistic scenario is $750 million OS + $650 Domestic for a total of $1.4 billion. Even that figure is quite a drastic downgrade from TFA (32% drop).
It would also be lower than DM3's 768m OS

DM3 OS over The Last Jedi OS would be a huge surprise.
Thinking Jedi still goes over DM3's 768m OS.

Am stunned. Just learned about this now. So disgusted. For someone like Lasseter who we trusted and looked up to for children entertainment this is so sad, angering and unacceptable.

Wonder over JL would require a lot, I think.
Justice League
$38 million/$57 million ($163 million)
$16 million ($186 million)
$9 million ($200 million)
$2.5 million ($204 million)
$1 million/$1.5 million ($207 million)
$0.75 million/$1 million ($209 million)
$210 million DOM
Wonder
$32 million/$45 million ($81 million)
$17 million ($104 million)
$15.5 million ($125 million)
$9 million ($137 million)
$10 million/$14.5 million ($161 million)
$12 million/$15.5 million ($189 million)
$6.5 million ($197 million)
$4.5 million/$6.25 million ($205 million)
$2.5 million ($208 million)
$1.5 million ($210 million)
$215 million DOM
Of course, it would require stronger legs than The Blind Side, but the A+ CinemaScore and the dearth of quality, appealing family movies since DM3 may give Wonder a boost to $200 million+ DOM.
That would be one of the year's biggest stories along with It, Split, Get Out etc.
Wonder is a film everyone should see, sends a fantastic message the world needs today. It's so wonderful.
Everyone in the cinema was very affected by it when I saw it.

I want Whedon's Batgirl . Or give him GL - that's a tough nut to crack even aesthetically. And is a mini ensemble by default due to multiple lanterns - I guess it falls under his ally.
Emma Stone would be so perfect as Batgirl imo.

My hopes for DECU:
1. No more CGI fests - the less CGI the better, look at Nolan's films
2. Get grounded stories
3. Get excellent directors, no more synder and the likes
4. Get excellent villains that are not video game villains
5. Make your films FILMS and VIDEO GAMES. Make them grounded, believable, realistic. Raise the stakes that we can be invested in.
6. Change Affleck, he looked really un-interested in JL.
7. Don't try to be Marvel. Don't over-do the humor just to be Marvel. You won't and shouldn't.

I think a Quinn solo will the best bet story and budget wise. No SS, Deadshot etc. That could also lead into GCS in the future if things work well.
I would definitely want to see that.

Just came back from WONDER. Such a beautiful, emotional experience. Give it all the money. It deserves it.
I don't think many films like these are done nowadays.
Certainly reminded me of The Blind Side. Feel good, uplifting, emotional and without cheesy CGI-fests or cliche' romances.
