Mark G has made his December forecast:

    1 4,4M Rogue One
    2 3,5M Sing
    3 2,0M Vaiana
4 2,0M Vier gegen die Bank
5 0,8M Robbi, Tobbi und das Fliewatüüt

4,4M for RO would be disappointing to me... I hope for at least 5M admissions. The drop would be more than 50% :(

Maybe Vaiana can get a bit more than that - but for Sing 3,5M should be the roof. I don't think it'll do more than that even if it has the potential.

That would mean RO would become the least attended year-end #1 movie since at least 1966, according to inside.kino! I hope RO can manage to reach a higher attendance number.

I like Eddie Redmayne in this. He played Newt like he was autistic or something, had little to no charisma and barely even speaks. The muggle was ok, but they didn't give him enough to do, he could be easily removed. The plot was a bit thin, acceptable CGI and nice beasts. Overall I expected more from it, this had the potential to be really fast paced and fun, but they squandered it!

    5/10

Oh and fuck Johnny Depp, he just looks so goddamn out of place in this movie. What a bad casting decision.

Here's the full list for opening weekends:

    HP1: 2.59 million

    HP2: 2.49

    HP 4: 2.4

    HP3: 1.987

    HP6: 1.844

    HP7.1: 1.769

    HP5: 1.682

    HP7.2: 1.608

Wow, I didn't expect that at all. HP8 was my greatest cinema experience, tied with TFA midnight premiere. The hype felt so real in my immediate local area, crazy to think about that it had the lowest opening and a total of just 6mil admissions

    Harry Potter in Germany:

    Harry Potter 1     12.565.007

    Harry Potter 2     9.702.824

    Harry Potter 3     6.627.175

    Harry Potter 4     8.009.941

    Harry Potter 5     7.103.458

    Harry Potter 6     6.213.225

    Harry Potter 7-1  5.835.503

    Harry Potter 7-2  6.468.501

The 1st, 2nd and 4th hold (in this order) the Top3 Opening Weekends with 2.590.464, 2.489.952 and 2.400.158. And HP1 is the 5th biggest movie since 1966.

If we can trust forecasts FB can be lucky if it reaches the half of the last one... But maybe they are wrong like many are these days (not only BO related) ;)

Hopefully either FB or RO can achieve over 4Mio adm, otherwise, I fear, Willkommen bei den Hartmanns will become the #1 movie this year

  5. Japan has grossed $65.9M, followed by the UK at $55M and China at $38.4M. The latter figure doesn’t compare to the outsize success of some other Disney animation and live-action films, but is the best Middle Kingdom score for a Pixar movie ever as audiences become more familiar with the brand. Rounding out the Top 10 international markets are: Australia ($36.2M), Brazil ($34.5M), Mexico ($24.8M), France ($21.8M), Spain ($20M), Germany ($19.4M) and Korea ($18.2M). Finding Dory stands as the No. 3 grossing movie globally of 2016.

Finding Nemo is with 8.8 million visitors the most successful CGI animated film of all time . During the continuation Finds Dorie in the US may well compete with the regions of its predecessor, it was in many international markets for the sequel clearly down (for example in France of 9.5 million to 3.3 million and in Spain of 5, 0 million to 3.2 million visitors down). But in many countries, there was little distance Pets and IA5 , which is different in Germany, so I see at least 4.8 million visitors.

Insidekino expects close to 5m admissions total..that will translate to roughly 30mn euros ~ 33.7mn dollars

    5m adm should be around €40mio =  $45mio.

Fantastic Fest: ARRIVAL Is Easily One Of The Year’s Best Films. It's also one of the best sci-fi films of the past decade.

"Arrival isn't just one of the best films of 2016 (and a strong contender for best overall), it's one of the best science fiction films of the past decade, ferociously smart and deeply emotional. It is precisely what I was hoping it would be, and feels like just the blast of fresh air the back half of this year needs, cinematically-speaking."

There are now 6 movies in the 2016 season in the top 100, if we go by December starting the year.

#19. Star Wars: The Force Awakens (December 2015)

    #67 Zootopia

    #84 Finding Dory

    #88 Shin Godzilla

    #96 Detective Conan 2016

    #97 Your Name

2015: 3, with two of them released in December 2014.

2014: 4, with one released in December 2013

2013: 3, with one of them in December 2012

Quite the year for movies in Japan.

Is the 3rd column the adjusted for inflation number?
