  1. Hoping this is good, i think Radio Silence scream movies was well made but a bit coward Loved Ready or Not down tho, so hopeful their new original is great
  2. Now that Wingard actually delivered a smash hit i want WB greenlit the sequel without dialogues and minimal human screen time
  3. Dune made 30M globally this weekend. Should have enough gas to do another 74M and reach 700M Waiting for GxK, probably ~200M globally, which locks +500M Huge successes, very happy for both. Saw Zilla yesterday and actually though is the best of the MonsterVerse, really like the cartoonish nonsense direction Wingard is progressively pushing harder
  4. Very curious where is leoh They just disappeared after the ban on tracking thread which is sad because i think they’re reaction seeing GxK performance would be hilarious
  5. I would bet on Joker 2 dropping considerable if they just keep the same vibe of the first one. Wakanda Forever for example probably was hurted by both the loss of Chadwick and the movie not being so different than the first one despite that. Joker 2 otherwise is doing a 180º and turning into something totally different. That’s the hook. People can think whatever they want and i definitely think there’ll be discourse about it, but i bet everyone will want to watch just to see what the hell they are doing. Unexpected things sell in franchises, they create the hook, the movie just needs to be good.
  6. That movie is so funny because he doesn’t have any sexual chemistry with her female interest, but the 5 minute flirt scene with a guy is very strong in chemistry and tension.
  7. Some of the responses here saying the movie is probably very bad are quite funny. The article said that reaction was not good and proceed saying how there’s no “commercial prospects” for this right after. It’s very clear that good for most of people there = commercial enough. It was a screening looking for distribution afterall.
  8. 93% verified audience score on RT I think A on CS is possible, which bodes well for legs (well, to avoid crumble at least)
  9. Very pleased that David is finally out of directors jail And he’s smart that this time he already locked up It Follows 2 so in case this flops, the next one is already a done deal and he won’t wait another 7 years to make a movie Still i hope this is great and succeeds, at 85M budget it only needs 300M or so be considered a big hit
  10. Tbh i do think loving Fury Road too much is maybe the problem for your friend and should be a problem going forward to a portion of the audience. Miller did said the movie is less action oriented, uses time very differently etc. Following Fury Road is hard enough, but for people hoping for a similar experience maybe it will be simply impossible to not be disappointed while watching something else. I’m not sure this means reviews will be divisive or audience reception will be bad because the franchise had a history of changing it’s tone each movie, but i do think there’ll be some discourse around it especially from people who loveeeees Fury Road a bit too much, which i’m sure is a lot of people.
  11. It’s an anime movie, you’re right. Hand drawn and all. Now i gain a ton of interest haha, I could swear i read it was just stylized 3D somewhere, but it’s not
  12. I’m not great reading OS numbers, but seems like 120M OS by SUN is quite possible
  13. It’s supposed to be in the vein of Puss In Boots 2 / SpiderVerse. Not exactly the same aesthetic, but with similar distinctive approach compared to Disney / Pixar. Still, my main point is that it doesn’t even need to be great to succeed, like The Hobbit. Still i have high hopes, the director is very good.
  14. I think people forget that Edwards work in Jurassic World is just following orders. The movie did nearly all it’s pre-production without an director which says a lot. I bet this won’t follow his usual type of filmmaking and should be an easy and light fun movie that plays very safe and doesn’t even attempt to do any statement, it’s clearly a classic studio movie. His job is to make it looks great, and we all know he can do that wonderfully.
  15. I think WB have a good year ahead tbh Barbie was a phenomenon. Wonka and Dune 2 are highly solid hits and seems like GxK is coming to a similar result. Furiosa shouldn’t reach this heights but it should do well enough with ~400M, which is decent considering the budget is rumoured to be around 150M. If it can get out of Cannes with great reviews I bet it will do well. Joker will be big no matter what, maybe not Joker 1 big, but very big. The LOTR animated movie should do very well not only because it’s a Christmas release but because it’s a very stable franchise, just look at all 3 hobbits doing around 1B despite being meh. Being an animation will prevent it from those numbers but it’s probably a lot less expensive as well. Even the 1-2 punch of the Shyamalan’s should do well since they’re horror and not expensive. Beetlejuice seems to be the tricky one but it’s not an overbudgeted movie and the reports are that the movie is decent so it can do well enough. Sure if we count things like the Costner movies than it gets difficult, but it’s his own movies, the distribution is between them and New Line. I wouldn’t count it as a WB joint. But yeah, very solid slate and full of actually potentially great movies from celebrated directors.
  16. Yeah i just don’t see sub 75M atp 80M is likely happening, WOM seems very good at 92% verified RT audience score. PostTrack seems promising as well “As we told you last night, the audience score on this is high. PostTrak is 5 stars. It’s a really fun, creature feature with a lot of heart”
  17. Very early, but started with 92% verified audience on RT Seems strong to me, i was expecting A- on CS but maybe it can try A again
  18. If 10M previews happens i can’t see sub 70M weekend even if audience reception are meh. +80M can be in play lol First big surprise of the year for sure. Monster movies really are the most reliable franchises to bet on walkups.
  19. Finally entered the rotten territory 59% with 111 reviews Still very hard to understand why WB hide it until the last minute, this is a very acceptable reception for a movie like this lol. They embargoed like it’s a Madame Web or something
  20. Reviews for Godzilla dropping 52 on MC (vs 59 of the previous one) 74% on RT with 47 reviews If it goes rotten from now shouldn’t be by much, so it shouldn’t hurt presales or walkups. now let’s wait
  21. At least from the big critics on meta, reviews seems very on par with GxK, maybe slightly worse. Waiting RT to update Anyway, definitely not tepid reviews and even the bad ones are complaining more about humans, script etc, not about the monsters or the fights. Even if it goes rotten, shouldn’t hurt the movie
  22. I think The Nun 2 And the reviews wasn’t even that bad lol Started in the 60’s and finished in the 50’s
  23. I don’t think it really matters in general, it’s mostly about SH movies Ghostbusters just had tepid reviews and it did better than expected. Dominion and ROTB the same thing and both gad great walkup business For a movie like this the worse it can do is maybe not getting a bigger bump in this cycle of presales, but even that probably just leads to a bigger bump on final day imo. It should be fine
