Will the world leave Lindsay Lohan alone?
Remember this girl :
They'll leave her alone when she stops fucking up every aspect of her life. I kinda agree, but it's hard to feel sorry for the girl.

Olympus will end up with 9 mil for Friday and a 27-29mil OW. Better than I thought it would be, but it ain't crossing 100m.

Gavin O'Connor? Uninspired choice in my opinion. Warrior is the only good thing he's done.

^Agreed. Her detractors don't know what they're talking about. All she's doing is putting more money towards films that otherwise would've struggled to gain financing. She's a godsend in my opinion. AND, regardless of box office, they've all been good/great movies.

The Call has to be one of those random movies that brought out a big urban audience. Happens every now and then, nobody ever expects it. Because for most people I imagine there's literally nothing about the movie that warranted seeing it in theaters. Halle Berry is a big name but she's never exactly been a draw.

Trailers: The Bling Ring, The Hangover Part III, Disconnect, Pain & Gain
Movie: A truly wild ride. The large theater was about 70% full, and it seemed half the audience consisted of teen girls under 17. One group of girls who looked about 14 in front of me in line were escorted by someone's mom. They sure got a whole lot of shaking boobies and booties.
Is Franco as good as the reviews say? It's funny how obvious it is when he's invested in a role (Spring Breakers, 127 Hours, Pineapple Express, Milk) and when he's there just for the paycheck (Apes, Oz, Eat Pray Love).

Both look like crap. The tv spots for Wonderstone were horrendous.

The majority of movies a turn a profit before they leave theatres. We really have no clue regarding Hollywood finances.

The Place Beyond the Pines
7:30pm advance screening
No trailers
Movie: A
Go see it. Performances are great across the board. Structurally it's very unique, and the film's theme of "legacy" is a powerful one.

February isn't always boring, last February was a pretty amazing month to track. Every week, there was at least 1 film that opened to more than 20m.
Talking about quality. The only good movie last year from Jan/Feb was Chronicle. This year, Side Effects.

It's been a crappy year so far, but IT IS late winter. Did you guys forget that this time of year always sucks? Even March doesn't look that great. I'll probably watch a few because I like to sample a wide variety of movies (good and bad) every year, but The Place Beyond the Pines and Evil Dead are literally the only two films I'm legitimately excited for between now and May. And that might change for the latter if reviews are bad.
Edit: the new trailer for Spring Breakers piqued my interest as well.

There were many people disappointed by their BO runs.
I can understand disappointment with IM2 because it decreased from the original, but in the case of TDKR that's just stupid.

Couldn't they theoretically keep the "American Bullshit" title as long as they #@$! out the "shit" in all the promos/posters/logos/etc? They should go for it.

Gosling is ten times the actor Tatum is too.

Gosling looks and acts like a smug douche. And word is that he is a smug douche, very difficult to work with.
You're just making shit up now. He's known as one of the nicest guys in Hollywood. Cunts these days...

Nobody said they were flops/disappointments. LMAO. That was exactly my point. These sorts of movies only do well nowadays if there's a gimmick added to it i.e. The Expendables.Okay but people should just stop with the " a movie not doing at least 150m dom-500m ww is a flop/disapointment" mentality. The Expandables 1 & 2 are great successes not big or enormous, they are making money and a third is in the pipeline.FYI, the number of people who went to see The Expandables 2 in America is the population of Sweden. The nostalgia audience for Expandables is enough for its producers but it seems this audience doesn't care if the old farts aren't together. We ll see if Stallone and Willis can do better, Willis obviously will have no problem doing better than Ahnuld...

It's relative10 million people seing a movie (Expandables 2) accounts for nothing ???
-
Does nobody realize that, unless you've got a novelty gimmick like The Expendables, these old school action movies don't appeal to people anymore? Audiences were inundated with them in the 80s and 90s and now, after they've been wowed by the likes of the Matrix, Pirates, Transformers, Avengers, etc...why would a concept with simple shootouts and explosions appeal to people? You all saw how The Expendables II, despite being a better movie, made far less than the original. Why is that? The novelty had worn off for the most part, and the Arnolds and Stallones are no longer the sort of heroes that modern audiences identity with.

The only numbers of interest are the Oscar nominees. Not a single movie until February looks decent.
-
WTF is it with January and overperforming (on OW anyways) horror movies? Does anybody know? Every year this happens. I just don't get why January is such a good month for them.
-
If the marketing is there, this can definitely make money. This year has shown us that, if anything.
-
Clooney's been good in nearly everything since the early 2000s. Back in the 90s, sure, he was a shit actor, but he turned it around and now he's an award winner and an excellent actor and a decent director. Anybody who says otherwise doesn't have good taste, plain and simple.

I don't think Spring Breakers' weekend gross is an indication of WOM one way or the other. It's simply not the type of platform release that breaks out. Doesn't matter anyways since it already made its budget back. Also, I'm pretty sure teenagers and young "spring breakers" were never the target audience.
