  1. That makes no sense. Why would any theater sell a ticket for 5$ unless they are a discount theater already? Who posted it? And what theater was it at? I'm going to call them and ask them what their normal prices are.

The evening ticket price at one of the Cinemark theaters where I live is $5.50. Not a discount theater. It might be one of only a handful in the country that shows new movies for that price though.
  2. I think we know how this is going to play out. TASM is a boring movie in every way. It has no buzz and there is no excitement about it. The reviews are lukewarm (the positive aren't really positive and the negative aren't really negative). Therefore, this movie will take the most boring route possible. It will not fail spectacularly and it will not break out. This movie will probably end up coming in under my $300M prediction and make $250M. Why $250M? Because that would be the most boring number because then neither side can claim victory. There will be no epic meltdowns. Both sides will end up claiming victory anyway. It'll just be boring.

250-275m isn't a disaster, but when you factor in 3d, IMAX, inflation, and the recently reported 200m+ budget, well....
  3. The Amazing Spider-man80% fullTrailers:Total Recall - silenceThe Dark Knight Rises (Nokia trailer) - whispers...yes, looks spectacularLawless - silenceThe Watch - laughsFun Size - nothingMovie: B-Good - Good performances, especially from Garfield, Stone, and Leary. Great VFX with the exception of some obvious green screens. The comedic scenes with Peter at or school or Peter discovering his powers are the most enjoyable of the film. The romantic banter between Peter and Gwen is fun and engaging. There are individual scenes that stand out such as

Peter on Gwen's roof, listening to sirens in the distance/Spidey sitting on a spider web in the sewer/Capt. Stacy's unmasking of Peter/Capt. Stacy's death

Bad - The Lizard is a beat for beat copy of the Green Goblin, except now with a

silly plan to turn all of New York into giant lizards.

There are many plot holes regarding Oscorp security, Peter's ability to

magically acquire the web fluid (which by the way is not his creation) from Oscorp.

, and the logic of a

machine that was shut down by Oscorp years ago still in working capacity in Connors' lab.

Peter's courtship of Gwen is rushed while the

search for Ben's killer draaaags, and then it's dropped just like that.

Uncle Ben's death doesn't have the emotional oomph that it should have. The first hour is pretty good and entertaining despite a few flaws and the fact it's covering old ground, but the second hour and change falls apart. Audience response afterward was mixed. A lot of "it was okay."

  4. To be fair, i didn't see anyone use their phone during the movie. I guess people just don't like being told that before every movie. Also, the ad they used was a pretty silly one, i think it was a Samsung Galaxy S3 ad masquerading as a "Don't use your phones" announcement.

    Okay, that is pretty silly.
  5. Hi, First time poster here so please excuse any errors

    Movie: Ted

    Theater: AMC Century City 15

    4:10pm, 90-95% seats filled

    Audience reactions:

Just prior to the trailers, there was a "The Dark Knight Rises" tickets on sale spot. The theater which was mocking the "Please turn off your cell phones" announcement was completely silent during the ad.

    Trailers:

Anchorman 2 - Lots of laughs

Silver Linings Playbook - Not many seemed interested in the trailer as most people around me kept talking throughout

For a good time call - Laughs at a lot of jokes, especially Seth Rogen at the end of the trailer

    The Watch - Chatter throughout

Movie: The movie was fun. The movie makes jokes at such a rapid pace that if you don't like a joke, there is another coming just 10 seconds away. Mark Wahlberg was good, Mila Kunis was ok, the CGI for Ted is very convincing and the voiceover is done well. The main strength of the movie were the sight gags and the guest stars especially

Ryan Reynolds who steals the show without even uttering a word

Overall, enjoyed the movie, the audience was great and helped the overall experience.

    8/10

Good god I don't like people sometimes. Is it that hard to seperate from your phone for two hours?
