<50k admissions would be very disappointing for Tschick... I'm not interested in that movie - but shouldn't many be? It's a big book

I'm interested to see how DBZ does. I'm not expecting much but if it could do a couple hundred thousand in dollars that'd be something.
I bet it's not even coming out in many theatres is it?
"Zudem starten noch DRagonball Z - Resurrection F, El degmemis ask, Der Landarzt von Chaussy (81 Kinos) und Nellys Abenteuer sowie die Dokus Dügün - Hochzeit auf Türkisch und The Farmer and I."
I think that means between 80 and 100 cinemas for DBZ.

With 452.724 admissions Pets is now the highest attended movie of the year in Portugal! (Beating Dory's 420k) I think it could hit 600k there - which is is still far away from Minions (936.513, 2nd most attended since 2004) but more than DM2 (I don't have exact numbers but it seems that one had less than 350k) A great result here!

And so Suicide Squad is now certain to overtake Deadpool in lc (In US$ it already did). A great result!

BvS had about 125k-130k admissions on its third weekend - I think - and had 1,325M admissions. And if SS - after a 185k weekend - reaches 1,25M admissions, than it still can overtake BvS

Isn't it the reason why we're all here anyway?
At least to me, the problem with Illumination movies is not that they're just trying to be funny, you can perfectly make a funny movie WITH a good story behind it, look at Inside Out, for example, I laughed more while watching this movie than watching any Illumination movie, and it didn't stop the movie from having: A amazing plot, well developted characters, complex themes, now you look at Minnions for example, a 1h30 movie that only think in create the most possible number of gags to make the public laugh, it don't have any plot, it's basically a festival of gags (most of them are not even funny), just because you're investing in the humor, it doesn't means that you can forget about the rest, that's why I'm not into that Illumination style, but I respect who likes these movies, everyone has different tastes, don't?
Im meant discussions that aren't those which the thread title promises. But you're right a forum is a place to discuss
And your right, movies can be funny and have a good plot - I do like that more. And there is a reason why I saw Minions once.
And as I said Pixar movies are more recognizable and - in common - I like them more. But, who knows, maybe there is humor in those movies not everybody can relate to. Or maybe Illumination hasn't such competent filmmakers as Pixar has.
They have both the right to exist because there are people who love those movies. Maybe Olive said enough to end this discussion: It's okay to hate them and it's okay to love them. It's just opinions.

I think they're just making different movies with different targets. If Illumination makes a movie we can expect to laugh. If Pixar makes a movie we have to expect that it makes us thinking.
I like Illumination - but in a different way. Illumination is easy entertainment. When I saw Minions I often laughed. But that's it. With SLOP it's the same, it's a better movie though.
It's very hard to compare Pixar and Illumination because they are so different. Pixar is often more recognizable. But there are other Studios that make good movies too. Which studio you like more is probably up to your age or emotional state. If Illumination would make movies that are just bad it wouldn't make that much profit. It only shows that they have many fans - which are not all stupid
(People in this forum seem to love discussions )

Maybe it lost many theaters/screens this week? I looked at filmstarts and there it says it is only #21 when it comes to theater counts (162 theaters). For example it lost its screens in mathäser because of all the (bad doing) new releases.
Yeah I looked it up and while last week it had 311 cinemas this weekend it were 196. But it lost 2/3 of its PTA too.
TMNT2 will lose many cinemas next week...

Birnenkuchen mit Lavendel
The best PTA with an increase of 176%!!! Open Air?
The Suicide Squad drop isn't that bad and its PTA is still good. I don't think WOM is too bad. Shoul have a good drop. But Pets is great! We feared a 80% drop, so this is really good.
Connie & Co I don't like her... But the worst thing is TMNT2! PTA 29 - that is just disastrous...
But why did Lights Out fall so hard? Should a movie targeting adults not have a better drop?

As did Australia, NZ will push Suicide Squad above BvS shortly. In the end it should also pass Deadpool to become the highest grossing Comic-Book Adaption of the year.

So, the Monday numbers are again better!
Suicide Squad 195k (-61% without previews/-66%) Cume: 940k - BvS (1,53M) is still reachable! It does not seem SS has to bad WOM.
Pets 95k (-69%) 2,875M, 2nd for the year! 4M will be tough... But it could double this weekends result if there is bad weather next weekend (it seems that weather will be good again though) It still has 1 month (It really is 1 - Dory starts 29th of September) until (hopefully) huge competition starts.
NYSM 2 90k (NYSM1 had 112k admissions - not to bad with this weather)
Jason Bourne 60k (-66%)
The Mechanic 50k
And this weekend, while it was the second lowest this year, is just 7% down compared to last year!
- 3
-
No big changes with the 3rd Trend
Suicide Squad 175k
NYSM2 85k
Pets at 80k (-74%) now - which is the biggest change. Gets better the longer the weekend lasts.

2nd trend for Germany not much better but at least SS is at 175k now (-65%, still horrible of course but Schweinskopf is dropping even harder)
I do not really understand this trend and the numbers... If those numbers
Suicide Squad:61,484/Thur+Frid=93,634
were true, how could the trend still say 175k?

Bourne:22,258/Thur+Frid=37,453

Schweinskopf :6,913/Thur+Frid=12,879
That seems to be very good for SS. Even with no increase on Saturday and Sunday it would be more than 200k for the weekend and less than 60% drop (excluding previews).
And by the Way, I just recognized SS seems to be a very bad option as a shortcut...

This weekend's drop probably will be enormous thanks to hot weather in Europe...
