This is so true. I'm pretty sure that's the main reason a certain director walked away from a CBM recently, for example.

We all love hearing scoops, and I'm just as guilty of that as any other fan, but things do seem to be getting a tad out of hand when it comes to CBM. A lot of clickbait bullshit out there.

Ps: For those who don't know, Mangold is the director of the masterpiece of the CBM genre currently at the movie theaters.

Much respect! Sadly , it's not going to stop anytime soon. I would rather leave the director happy and stress free than hammer him with negative news and reactions even before the movie release.

Which means what?    Nothing.  1- Awards for art are meaningless.   Hitchcock never won a single Oscar for Best Director.    Cary Grant and the Marx Brothers had to get "special Oscars" after they retired.    When has there ever been an Oscar ceremony where people agreed with the results?

That's what is so silly about the Oscars...you can't even really say that. 2-   It's just a particular group of people who thought the hair and makeup was better than TFA.    Ask a different group of people and they might say TFA had better hair and makeup.    Which group is right?    What exactly is "better hair" or "better makeup"?   How does one go about measuring that?

If awards are meaningless then RT scores are meaningless too. The group of people responsible for the awards in the Oscars (6300 people) is way bigger than the group at RT (400/500 people).

A great director might not win in his life time but that does not mean the ones who won have meaningless awards. Suicide squad won the Oscar for make up. That makes it great character design wise. Many people went crazy about the characters and how they were designed all over the world even before the movie was released. Wining an Oscar does not mean it's the best movie to ever be made, but that doesn't mean it's meaningless either. Wining an Oscar means that many people thought something about this movie was good and unique enough to win an Oscar. It's a good thing. It's a thing to be proud off.

This is definitely a new wave of anime adaptations in live action movies, Naruto will destroy everything :shades::jeb!:

I'm all for a Naruto live action if it's done right , look at the scale of fan made stuff ......... if done right it could be amazing

My biggest fear for live-action Naruto is that they'll make the same mistakes like with Avatar: The Last Airbender. Controversial casting is a given (no, Naruto is not white, but a Japanese, yet they'll cast a blond white kid) and than they'll try to condense a whole season into one movie.

GitS looks great, especially the shelling sequence.

Exactly , I think a first movie about the formation of team7 and the Zabuza arc is more than enough and had epic fights and even character death + the mains being in real danger. It would be awesome. The second movie about the chunin exams and the third movie will be about itachi's visit , the fall out of team7 and valley of the end battle. That's a trilogy for part1 Naruto.

Another fear of mine is when they give the romance more space than it really deserves , that will sure ruin the whole thing for me. I'm all for the barely there romance in the manga.

Try to find a Japanese kid who is a natural blond with blue eyes...They wouldn't be wrong to cast a white kid in that case. Sasuke and Sakura are a different story.

You mean it's hard to find a naturally blond Japanese kid with blue eyes but it's easy to find a naturally pink haired Japanese girl with green eyes ........?

I prefer the actors to be Asian too. They can use lenses and hair dye, it does not have to be natural, just please don't use wigs. If they cast white people or mixed I will still want to watch if they look the part. So as long as they do the characters justice I will watch but I will prefer Asian actors.

I think most shounen battle shows (One Piece, Bleach, My Hero Academy, One Punch Man, DBZ, etc) just cannot work live action.

I've heard a Naruto live action adaptation has been green lit. Not sure if that's true but if it is ...... I don't think it will translate well. Specially if they turned it into teen romance .... yuck ....

I may have missed it in here, but Mel Gibson says that Marvel films are more violent than his film and you don't care about their characters :P

    http://screenrant.com/mel-gibson-marvel-violence-conscience-hacksaw-ridge/

“To talk about the violence question, look at any Marvel movie. They’re more violent than anything that I’ve done, but [in my movies,] you give a s— about the characters, which makes it matter more. That’s all I’ll say.”

Mel has a very interesting way of expressing his opinions

  6. My ranking of superhero movies for 2016:

    1-BvS

    2-Civil War

    3-Apocolyps

The rest (SS - DP - DS ) I  did not like enough to rank, though I think both DP and SS deserve honorable mentions for great marketing and great casting ( at least I loved their characters a lot but did not like the movies that much ). DS has cool visuals but that's about it.

Ranking of my most anticipated superhero movies for 2017:

1-Justice league ( My heroes in one big movie , I can't wait! The footage we got from comic con and the BTS were enough to hype me to the max)

2-Wonder Woman ( The trailers were amazing ,The biggest female superhero to date! I conciser it the first too because I like to pretend that Elektra and Catwoman did not happen)

3-Logan ( The trailer blew me away <3 and the joel/last of us vibe made it even more epic)

4-Spider Man homecoming ( even though I did not like the new spidy that much -he was one of the few things that annoyed me in CW- but I want to see him carry his own movie to judge)

I am neutral to lego Batman ( not my type of Batman but it might end up being fun to watch) , Thor ( I am not a fan of Hulk and the idea of planet Hulk and him taking screen time from Thor and Luki made me loose some interest in this movie)  and GOTG2  ( Never liked the first one that much to begin with ,so I don't think this will be any different).

I haven't been that impressed with any of the actors to be honest. not that they were given much to work with, and they are certainly one of the better parts of the movies (except for like Jared Leto, Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg) but they are all very replaceable imo, becuase I'm not atached to any of them becuase I feel I don't really know them yet. of course they aren't going to reboot, not yet anyways, but I don't know why we should assume their movies are magically going to get better, unless they switch studios, which won't happen. I believe this is a corporate issue that goes all the way to the top, and if they make a good film it will be because they let a good script in and got a good directed and didn't metal with it. And it doesn't mean all their future films with suddenly be good either.

I like that article because it states WB tends to copy themselves and never tries anything new, Nolan's Batman worked really well, so they tried to copy that tone with Superman. and we got Man of Steel. These are vastly different characters and they need to be handled independently.

There is nothing to be impressed with in this article because it just restated some things that everyone already noticed and then just gave the most ridiculous and stupid solution to supposedly solve it. On this forum alone we talked a million times about WB's tendency to try and replicate it's success , it's old news.

I have no problem with a superman movie that's a little dark. It's not the tone that I did not like in MOS it's how they focused on the suffering and ignored or just completely erased the good things in Clark's life. WB/Snyder were listening to people going on about " Superman is boring , he's perfect , everything in his life is perfect ...ect " they wanted to show them that's not the case. Which is great! BUT they shouldn't have overlooked some components in superman's character in favor of  the ones that will make superman "cooler". The balance is what would have made MOS the best superman movie to date. Sadly , it wasn't balanced. The relationship with his parents, his friendship with pete , the death of his father are all things that could have been presented in a much better way while still keep the other hardships Clark went through growing up. The balance , that's what's MOS is missing.

As for the actors , they have their own fan-base , you might think they are replaceable but many would disagree. Affleck is the best batman to date for me, , no question ( even though I loved the Nolan trilogy but I was never a fan of christian's batman (even though he's a phenomenal actor) . Henry CAN be the best superman to date ( I say that while still being a huge Christopher reeves fan , but that was campy superman, a different era ) and I believe he will in the coming movies. Wonder woman had a great debut in BvS, and people went crazy about her.I think the solo movie will cement if she can hold her own in a full movie,I can see the great potential. Leto's joker is still out there , people are judging him too early,we barely saw him. The only casting that I had a real problem with was Jesse and even that can be fixed.

rebooting the universe is not the answer at all. And yes! I can expect better movies in the future. Just because they played with the movies here and there and stumbled at the beginning doesn't mean at all they will keep doing that. Specially with new people in charge and real efforts to bring talents on board. WB have made Oscar wining movies many times. I don't see why I wouldn't expect them to do better in the future.
