  1. For those who really want Snyder out of JL, there's a precedent.

Saw 7 ( 3D ) had David Hackl as director. Then, 2 weeks before filming, he was fired and Kevin Greutert ( Saw 6 director ) was forced to direct it. The production company Twisted Pictures exercised a "contractual clause" in his contract. Yes, the movie didn't get a delay and it was filmed as planned, even though the director was angry as hell ( I remember talking to him on HOJ ). He was set to direct Paranormal Activity 2, but then was forced to come back and direct Saw 3D instead.

So, while it's not common, it's possible.

The DGA does not allow more than one director to be employed on a project. You can make a rare exception if it's a "bona fide team" (i.e., the Hughes brothers, the Wachowskis, the Coens), but since Snyder is well established as a director by himself, that's not gonna happen here.

Then how the hell The Russo brothers are directing Civil War?

You keep saying this and I don't think you understand what a nonsensical suggestion it is

Snyder is ill. Have you seen his latest pics?

Sure, WB might keep him for JL. But hey, if they'll keep a ill director that lost more than 20 pounds, at least be sure that he won't disappear while filming his next movie.

That's why I advice bringing a co-director. Remember that John Wick, Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War all had a duo as directors.

  4. If BVS ends with 700 million after Sunday, I still believe it can make 1 billion.

I mean, it has had huge drops, but it won't stop making money next weekend. So, we'll have to see in the long haul. It'll be long, but it'll get there.

Snyder won't be fired. If JL starts filming in the next 10 days or so, no way WB will fire the director. Isn't there already a screenplay ( made by Terrio ), sets and so on? How can WB delay and change everything now? They can't and they'll lose money if they do that.

Bring a co-director to help Snyder. Bring a writer to polish Terrio's script. His BVS was weak, but people say it was actually Goyer's. So at worst, Terrio tried to polish a turd, I guess.

    That's it.

  5. If Snyder gets a boot from WB or if he steps down as the director, he'll still keep his executive producer status.

It seems every DCU movie is being produced by Snyder and his wife. So, it's not that WB will exactly fire him. At best, he should step down or WB can bring a co-director to help him.

JL is a damn huge project. It's like Winter Soldier and Civil War. No sane soul can do it alone. No way.

So, if Snyder is getting out, WB better bring 2 directors to helm this project. Anyway, Snyder has 8 kids to feed. How can that be possible? Maybe that's why he's so thin now. He lost at least 20 pounds. I wonder what happens when this guy wakes up and sees every negative news about a movie that he spent 3 years making it...

I would be desperate to think about being fired, with 8 kids to feed. Wow, and I'm talking as a father of 2 kids. Can't imagine being father of 8, lol.

  6. I loved BVS, but we're talking about numbers.

Final domestic grosses: 350 million  ( based on my numbers from the previous post ). Anything higher than 350, is a plus. :P

Final overseas grosses; A bit tricky, because BVS seems to be not holding well in China and Europe BUT it seems to be holding better in Latin America: So far, it has made 354 million overseas. I think 550-600 million should be the target.

So, a final box office of 950 million might be possible. I said might be possible. Overseas numbers might be better.

  7. So, let's try to guess the next weekends grosses for BVS:

    Weekend 1: 166 million

    Weekend 2: 53 million ( 68% drop )

Now I don't know about the next weekends. So, I'll try to be as pessimistic as possible and imagine that there'll be always a 50% drop. Yeah, too pessimistic, but I like it more that way. MOS had 14 weeks and even most of the weekends drops were smaller than 50%. So, that's why I'm being pessimistic.

    Weekend 3: 26 million ( basically a 50% drop from weekend 2 )

    Weekend 4: 13 million

    Weekend 5: 6,5 million

    Weekend 6: 3.2 million

    Weekend 7: 1.6 million

    Weekend 8: 800.000

    Weekend 9: 400.000

    Weekend 10: 200.000

    Weekend 11: 100.000

    Weekend 12: 50.000

    Weekend 13: 25.000

    Weekend 14: 12.000

Note that we don't know how BVS will perform during next weeks ( so, I'm ignoring weekly grosses and only focusing on weekends for now )

If you add all the possible weekend grosses considering a 50% drop, BVS has more 50 or 51 million left to do.

So, we now have 209 million domestic. More 53 million and we'll get to 262 million. More 51 million ( from next weekends ) and we'll get 313 million. We'll have weekly numbers to add. So, I think we might get 350 million domestic, but nothing above that.

I like MOS and Batman v Superman, but I wouldn't be that upset if they let Snyder go.

Oh, I wouldn't be sad either.

I mean, dude obviously got a lot of money. Besides, he'll probably be kept as the producer. So, there's that.

On the other side, I can't believe that dude has 8 kids. I imagine Snyder should be a workaholic dude. Maybe that's why he looks so tired and thin now. Maybe he should really get a nap after working almost 5 years nonstop.

  9. First thing WB should do, is being worried about Snyder's health. Dude lost at least 20 pounds, judging by his latest pictures.

Dude got 3 years working on BVS and he also probably had 2 years working on MOS. I don't think he'll be able to get a third time. If WB doesn't boot him ( I don't think they should do it, Snyder isn't a bad director per se ), at least bring a co-director just like Captain America Winter Soldier and Civil War. These 2 movies are huge. I don't think a director alone would be able to helm them.

Bring someone to help Snyder. Bring a decent writer.

I really like Snyder's movies. Yes, I even liked Sucker Punch for what it was trying to be, though it failed. lol.  However, WB needs to see the word of mouth, read the reviews and see what worked and what it didn't work in BVS.

Then again, careful what you wish for. Maybe Snyder gets fired and they get a bad director to helm JL. Then everyone will be asking for Snyder's return. :)

  10. If BVS fails to make 1 billion worldwide, things will change....forever!

If WB doesn't fire Snyder, at least they should bring a co-director to help him. Besides, I don't think Snyder's health is doing good. I've just seen his latest pics. It seems that dude lost almost 20 pounds. It's insane.

Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman are risky movies. DCU future is on their hands. I'm actually more excited to watch them, than I was excited to see BVS. I also deeply believe SS and WW will get better reviews. I just hope WB doesn't spend 200 or 350 million for these flicks. That's batshit crazy.

WB rushed their DC universe. How can we have a Justice League movie without getting solo movies for Aquaman, Cyborg and Batman?

Deadpool is not going to outgross BvS, let's stop with the hyperbole. About Suicide Squad, some people on Twitter that seem to be in the know are like "this is bullshit, those reshoots were planned for some time and have nothing to do with adding levity". Who knows.

Deadpool will be more profitable than BVS. It's a movie without 3D, R rated and it wasn't even released in China.

It also had a good marketing and amazing trailers, unlike BVS.  I loved BVS, BUT the second trailer ( revealing Doomsday ) was a huge mistake. It seems they fired whoever edited that trailer and came with a better third trailer. The damage was already done, though. :(

That's not going to happen. From the sounds of things in the International threads, this movie is collapsing in a lot of major overseas territories, including China. Even $900+WW is in question at this point.

Well, I guess we have to wait, then. I'm really curious about the numbers in that regard.

  13. Call me optimistic, but somehow I still think 1 billion worldwide is possible.

Why boxofficemojo didn't update Thursday's overseas grosses? It's still at 538 million worldwide, but deadline reports 16 million from overseas markets.

So, it has to be at 554 million now.  If we add these 15 million from Friday's domestic grosses, we would have 569 million worldwide.

If BVS manages to get at least 700 million or more worldwide, by the end of this weekend, I think 1 billion might happen. If not, it'll be close.
