Damn another great episode, I’m just loving Kamala and her family and friends. (We stan Aisha and it was hilarious of Bruno being jealous over King Kamran.) i also dig the ethnicity of Kamala and her family doesn’t take a back seat like I easily thought it would have. I really hope Damage Control gets like nothing aside from the occasional confrontation but we don’t need another boring ass SWORD taking away from the good shit. Bisha and the Bad Boys Boys are killing it so far. I was uncertain the MCU could do teenage heroes after the first two Holland’s Spider-Man movies were either mid or trash but it turns out you just need someone, anyone other than Watts lol. Not only does this have to potential to be the first good MCU show as it is easily the best first two episodes of the bunch but could top Shang-Chi as the best phase 4 media.

How is Lightyear looking previews wise.

It’s only competition in SpiderVerse and if you asked me which is more likely to go sub 200m, I’d say SpiderVerse in a heartbeat as it faces much more scarier competition. Sure Pikachu was a failure but also it opened right after Endgame and before Aladdin, and Illumination is a trillion times better at selling family movies than WB ever could be.

I would be surprised if Mario isn’t the biggest movie this year.

I think if it does sub 3x which I doubt it’ll be because it skews more older, not WOM.

As for runtime debate, a Marvel movie which wasn’t even an MCU movie just under 4 years ago, had a runtime just under 2 hrs and had damn good pacing and time to flesh out the central characters. Said movie was also easily the best Marvel movie. I’m pro-shorter runtimes so long as it works, I don’t why Thor or tbh a wide majority of CBMs couldn’t do just under 2 hours runtime so long as the narrative fits and there’s no reason to suggest why it can’t for this one. MoM’s problem wasn’t that it needed a longer runtime for multiverse rules but rather they absorbed a bit too much of the runtime and made parts drag.

What 3:00 PM previews and a more savvy audience gets ya. Bad Guys had a multiple of barely over 20 for OW from previews (Encanto may not be the best comparison cause of the five day but it did 18x for its previews/OW multiple). Lightyear probably due to being IP will skew more older and front-loaded than those two, kind of like Sonic 2 or even TS4 which iirc had a multiple of 10x.

I thought the first movie was ass but this seems nutty enough to get my attention.

The goal for Lightyear should be a preview number around Sonic 2. I think that’s likely the best comparison for it (Sonic 2 also had EA too)

Seriously though there’s now a very real chance Lightyear does sub 200m, the second that happens Pixar and WDAS are staying straight to the plus.

Not glowingly so was the warning. If it’s not that, than likely mixed reception. The reaction are filled with fans who are like 90% likely to be positive.

I don’t think either would happen lol but like I wouldn’t be surprised at this point a sub 60m OW for Lightyear.

Minions is less reliant on good reviews than Lightyear due to what audiences expect from the different studios. It can literally do like sub 40% and still be likely to do $200m compared to a Pixar movie because illumination is literally sells itself on dumb kid friendly fun.

Honestly if things don’t stabilize it’s possible that this becomes Pixar’s second rotten film. But more and more as time goes on Minions seems like the bigger movie between the two at the box office.
