  1. As for Maverick’s legs, the older audience if anything is much more of a help to legs. It’s not like a CBM where the audience shows up on OW to avoid spoilers and then legs hurt for a minute before equalizing. Would be surprised at a sub 3x multiple especially with strong WOM and summer days.
  2. There’s a small chance Bad Guys, would need another great hold next weekend and with some fudge via Dominion, it could be around 95m. IF Lightyear doesn’t curbstomp, it will be around 97m by the time before Minions and some fudge could get it to 100m.
  3. Paramount has had one of their best years in a while. Scream, Jackass, Lost City, Sonic and now Maverick have all been big hits although their slate for the second half of the year is pretty barren. (I think Secret Headquarters is either Paramount+ fodder or opens later this year.) 2023 should be a huge year too. Mission Impossible could go ham and do 300m domestic, Dungeons could be a new franchise as could the family film IF (though I think either it or Trolls 3 should open against Blade for a more healthy environment as counterprogramming (like Strange 1 and Trolls) instead of opening against each other), Scream 2 (or 6) will be a nice horror hit as should Quiet Place. Animation wise, Ninja Turtles if it has a small budget could drum up a nice profit as could Tiger’s Apprentice and Paw Patrol 2 (Under The Boardwalk is still happening as David Soren said production is nearly done so if in the likely case it’s not Paramount+ fodder, it could be a 2023 film). Babylon should also make the majority of the bulk gross in 2023 too.
  4. I’m Gen Z and watched Top Gun for the first time Monday. Prior to that, I was familiar with the Need for Speed line and Danger Zone, mainly because them being referenced in a lot of shit I watched as a kid (Family Guy, Robot Chicken, etc). Millennials and the older generation are definitely the driving force but more likely than not they’re getting their families to go to. A movie opening to near 150m for a four day at least, shows there’s at the minimum some relevance.
  5. I mean it’s OW alone is doing more than either Afterlife or 2016. Ghostbusters if anything has a loud fanbase but is far less relevant.
  6. Bought a Maverick ticket today for this Tuesday in my theaters’ PLF and it only costed me $5 dollar due to being a member and Tuesday deals.
  7. 100m for Bad Guys could happen. Assuming a slight dip tomorrow, the total is at $76.7m and with the four day weekend, it should end with around 83m assuming a slight decrease. With nothing notable opening next weekend, it might have another slight decrease and by the time it gets to Dominion, with luck it’ll be anywhere from 92m-94m. If it’s the latter, a simple fudge when Minions comes means $100m.
  8. Watched Top Gun for the first time last night, was pretty solid but you can’t convince me that Goose and Maverick weren’t totally in love with each other lol.
  9. Could The Bad Guys leg it out to 100m is the question? $74.36m (~1.2m in weekdays), puts it at $76.6m the Thursday before Maverick. With no family competition, holiday weekend and likely Sonic being the dropped one, I’m guessing a 30% drop with Monday making it about flat ($4.27m/$5.8m) brings it to $82m, and say assuming holds continue to be strong by the time it gets to the next weekend, it should be around $87m. Double screenings with Dominion get it to $91m. Lightyear may clip it’s legs but if it holds unusually well maybe Minions can help fudge it there.
  10. I agree with everything you are saying but I was disappointed that much like the Russo’s Captain America films, they didn’t go deeper with the themes. I wanted more from what it’s means to be a Black Captain America and that’s why I was disappointed in the show especially when Black Panther (which still had its problems even though it’s one of my favorite all-time CBMs) did it far better and surprisingly so for a blockbuster and especially an MCU movie, and am not expecting much from this film unless the drastic shake up of the crew. The Lumbly stuff was most definitely the highlight though. For example, have US Agent actually be an alt right fuckhead like in the comics and the villain.
