Not to mention Dreamworks’ success with the March month and the fact Batman is less of a threat for families than dealing with Beasts and Sonic as Strange clips the legs. The second either Turning Red or Super Pets moved, The Bad Guys should’ve taken the spot.

I think both it and The Bad Guys should’ve opened in mid March. Ambulance on the 18th and Bad Guys on the 11th. Good counterprogramming and less competition for both.

The most interesting thing from Paws of Fury is it’s the first time Paramount is using Nickelodeon Movies to distribute a movie by itself. (On a side note, honestly why didn’t Paramount slap a Paramount Animation and/or a Nickelodeon Movies logo with either Sonic considering they’ve been all about brand-building)

Yeah, agreed. If anything Sonic 2 is proof that families are coming back. My screening was also mostly full of 6-14 year old children as well.

Kind of surprised they chose Maverick instead of doing a Secret Headquarters trailer as it’s a family movie but I guess they’re saving that for Doctor Strange as superhero stuff. Paws of Fury looks not good, the Samuel Jackson PG-motherlover line wasn’t funny. Kind of glad for the creators as this movie finally got released after like six years of distribution purgatory.

With a likely $65m+ opening, Sonic 2 should finish within the $180m-$200m range and should be the biggest Paramount opener since Mission Impossible: Fallout. Sonic is shaping up to be a nice franchise for Paramount. I wouldn’t be surprised if come the next few weeks Sonic 3 gets the 7/19/24 from the animated Transformers movie.
