Not really, no. I’ve seen the bond done between an inexperienced Spider-Man and a veteran hero done better in the year as Infinity War. Then again I do think Iron Man is easily the least likable or interesting Avenger post IM3.

Even Lego Batman’s parents death still traumatizes and impacts him in a movie for children (The Lego Batman Movie is great but yknow continuing a point).

To be fair all of those were better mentors and had better dynamics for drama than Iron Man.

I don’t really give a shit about Ned, he’s a wannabe Ganke but like for me the most interesting component of Spider-Man movies, tv shows, games, etc has been the world around Spidey, not interacting with The Avengers or stopping world ending threats. A good example is Aunt May knowing Spidey’s secret this early could be a good point from drama but it’s thrown aside for cheap jokes with Happy. Same for MJ, as Zendaya is a great actress but we don’t know much about her or her agency other than she and Peter are together and she’s snarky. The dramatic elements apart from death of Tony are tossed aside for quick jokes and for me, it’s boring and it makes me feel (among other issues) make me question why Spider-Man is in this film when it could be any other teen hero.

Tbh that’s kind of the problem. The world around Spidey that’s like not Avengers are basically props.

This looks like fun. The jokes were pretty good, the animation looks great but the choice of music (Bad Guy) was too on the nose. It also kind of looks like a Megamind redux but who knows it may surprise.
