The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo
YM! replied to grim22's topic in Numbers and Data
As for Pikachu, I would say if it sells 50 tickets, it would be in the vicinity of Thor3/JL/SMH at my theater but considering how much mobile ticket buying online has changed and the nature of how it sell ticket wise, I’d say if it does around them it can mean anything but that imho means it should be good for the $75M-$90M range. Again it all depends. -

Well, by the time I get to it tomorrow, Endgame might have the first sellout as the 6:00 showing has 299/301 seats filled. Which is unprecedented for the movies I have tracked at North Shore Cinema. -

If it were 5 or 6, I’d understand but WB is screwing themselves over when they do that. Then again WB sucks at marketing and arguably management for family films. -

None yet from my main but my AMC has the traditional three showings which was about the same for most family films. Again WB stop with the 4:00 pm showings, it is a bad omen for your family movies and useless as a decent amount of kids don’t usually get out of school until after 3:30-4 pm. -

Dumbo could be a good one although I expect sales to be much higher. -

Agreed. It’s hard to find a good comparison. JWFK and I2 could be good choices. Some Disney Live Action remakes as well. Lower tier CBMs as well like Ant Man/Shazam!/Venom too might be nice. Ralph 2 and Dragon 3 has strong presales. -

Besides apart from like maybe one or two people, it isn’t bringing in true toxicity like the CBMs and Star Wars have. BTW got my Endgame ticket about a week ago and the Saturday 7:00 in UltraScreen is nearly (85% full) sold out. -

I feel the GOT will have an effect but not much of an effect as Pikachu is family PG movie and GOT is at 9PM on Sunday which don’t give good weeknights anyway. I don’t think it’ll effect Endgame either. But seriously enough talk about PikaPika, presales aren’t until tomorrow anyway and we are sort of taking up space. -

I do easily get the frustration, admit it can get annoying and hard for discussion, and PikaPika is the most hyped I have been for a blockbuster since Black Panther. -

To be fair, I stopped making the jokes a while ago. But as we seen both tackling it only make it worse and brings out more toxicity from both sides, causing threads to be undesirable. It is sort of like the same thing with the DC fanboys and their weird obsession with Poppins after it underperformed. -

But what good is spamming it going to do? Really, if anything it makes look you sort of butthurt. I am not suspecting presales to be gigantic but let the stans be if they annoy. -

And that made you no less annoying than the overpredicters. -

Tomorrow night, I’ll finally tackle the presale beast everyone wants to see and Endgame as well. -
Forgot about the guy who hate Monday’s and loves lasagna.
-
My guess is it’ll be Teller Henney Issac Hoult Egerton/Hammer
-
I can see Egerton getting in though.
