  1. I have no comps for Mamma Mia but it is selling well, the 7:00 showing is half full.
  2. Not necessarily. Domestic (have AMATW at about $210M) I can see 6 of them over AM2. An additional 3 have a shot. Point is it probably won’t be in the top ten domestic. So... 1.) Panther $699.99999999999fudge99999 2.) IW $675M 3.) I2 $600M 4.) JWFK $415M 5.) 💀💩L 2 $320M 6.) Poppins $285M 7.) Grinch $250M 8.) Aquaman $230M 9.) Beasts 2 $225M 10.) Ralph 2 $220M 11.) Solo $211M 12.) Fallout $210M 13.) AMATW $205M Assuming AMatW does $630M it’d be about number 6 worldwide. Ralph 2, Fallout and Beasts 2 will likely top it putting it at #9. Poppins Returns will probably top it. Aquaman and Venom certainly could top it. Alita has a chance due to China. If MM2 breakouts here it has a strong chance too. Grinch is a maybe as Dr Seuss movies don’t do well OS but Illumination does, then again before they became big Lorax did around $120M OS. Bohemian, First Man, Robin, and Spiderverse have no chance. Ant Man and The Wasp might be number 10 but it’s a breakout away from losing the spot. So... 1.) IW $2.07B 2.) Panther $1.35B 3.) I2 $1.25B 4.) Fallen Kingdom $1.2B 5.) Beasts 2 $800M+ 6.) 💀💩L 2 $730M 7.) Fallout $670M-$700M 8.) Ralph 2 ~$650M 9.) Poppins ~$650M 10.) AMATW $630M
  3. I would add The Grinch in that equation. Yes it looks like shit and yes trailer views are poor but audience reception is sadly good and Illumination has a strong track record.
  4. I sort of agree, IW2 I can see an increase OW but weak legs (> or = 2.4x) ($270M OW * 2.4x = $650M DOM is my highest point). WW I have about the same give or take $100M-$150M. Panther 2 is a question mark, OS I could see a small increase (5%-10%). DOM I don’t expect BP2 to increase or even be flat towards the first mainly due to how big the first one was since it like WW hit a zeitgeist but I can see a slight decrease ala DP2 to around the $630M-$640M range.
  5. If a film had a $300M budget and an estimated loss regardless of brand it’s a flop. Not to mention if it’s supposed to be your studio’s answers to the Avengers. I do admit Ant Man is a disappointment but it’ll at least break even.

  7. On a non CBM related note, (technically we can count Disney remakes as a franchise) but I’d be down for an Emperor’s New Groove remake but using the unused Kingdom of The Sun plot.
  8. True but I wonder if it’s like a 2D/3D thing as well. Sorry but I’m in so much denial and anger Sony isn’t marketing the biggest movie of the holidays.
  9. Increase. It’s Marvel’s biggest solo origin outside of Iron Man and Black Panther not to mention IW exposure will help.
  10. Now I’m mad. I do wonder if they’re aiming for a PG-13 rating though.
  11. More on this, Michael B Jordan and Constance Wu are to lead in the project. Rumor has it it’s being fast tracked to Y4. The project is being described as mix of Hourglass’ Spark franchise and Black Panther.
  12. Personally I found IW to be at the same level of emotional as WW. Both deliver on the emotions equally imho, but I lean a bit more towards IW. Steve Trevor is returning in WW1984
  13. @cayommagazine Endless Entertainment is working on an original sci-fi superhero movie with Christopher McQuarrie to produce. Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers will write the flick. Ryan Coogler in talks to direct.
  14. I wouldn’t be against it perhaps there can be an exception?
  15. I agree a lot with this and for the most part I love the MCU (ironically the most comedic ones, the Guardians had the most tearjerkers for me, but would personally add IW and Panther (but that one has a special place in my heart moreso than almost any superhero movie)). Most of the MCU movies are entertaining popcorn movies to great but they can’t do emotional and comedy at the same time, it creates a small tonal whiplash, which is why I understand why some people don’t care for the movies. The humor can sometimes smother the some of their films in places unneeded and awkward. Wonder Woman is also great at the emotional points of the movie, it does so better than most modern CBMs.
  16. 35,000,000 seems fair but their can be some exceptions like if a franchise has a major drop off (Back To The Future, Gremlins, Jaws) or only had one film in a popular franchise with a slightly higher limit of 40,000,000 (Roger Rabbit)
