  1. Thor and JL can actually be some serious competition for Coco in hindsight now that I think about it. I mean I know CBMs target Males over 25 first and foremost but families have an interest in both.
  2. JL, Thor, meh reviews and the marketing if you ask me are the only way I can see under TGD
  3. The intermission thing isn't confirmed but it's a guess due to the past and one of my theories.
  4. Loud House. Nimona is still dated for February 2020. That is 16 major animated movies so far scheduled for 2020.
  5. I would think that it'd be a break to go to the lobby or take a bathroom trip for families. They did it the last time Disney had a 22 minute short in front of a movie. Then again that was the 90's. I might be overthinking it.
  6. Against a untitled Marvel movie. I can see this performing akin to Trolls ($40M/$150M) which did well against an Doctor Strange.
  7. It's lit with Sanders Fox is really trying to commit to their plan to ramp up the amount of animated movies they make.
  8. It's a 20 minute short after 15 minutes of previews, I'd imagine there'd be some sort of break.
  9. Assuming that's without the Frozen short and assuming an intermission. Coco's total runtime should be about a 2 hours and 20 minutes without trailers.
  10. http://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/895215-fox-and-locksmith-animation-announce-rons-gone-wrong Twentieth Century Fox and Locksmith Animation, the UK’s new high-end CG feature animation studio, have today revealed their inaugural project together, Ron’s Gone Wrong. Co-Directors Alessandro Carloni (Kung Fu Panda 3) and Pixar Story vet J.P. Vine (Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur) will helm the film for a November 2020 release. Locksmith – led by former Aardman executives Julie Lockhart (Shaun the Sheep, Pirates! Band of Misfits) and Sarah Smith (Arthur Christmas), who co-founded the company with Elisabeth Murdoch – has assembled a multi-award winning creative team, including production designer Nathan Crowley (Dunkirk, Interstellar, The Dark Knight) with Aurelien Predal (Mune, The Little Prince), character designer Carter Goodritch (Ratatouille, Despicable Me), editor David Burrows (The Lego Movie), cinematographer David Peers (Happy Feet), and VFX supervisor Philippe Denis (Trolls). The story was written by Peter Baynham (Borat, Hotel Transylvania) and Smith, who will both produce alongside Lockhart and Lara Breay (Megamind, Penguins of Madagascar). Murdoch exec produces.
  11. Rated PG for rude humor, action and some thematic elements
  12. To you. Keyword to you. I doubt any any of the GA will remember most directors outside of Spielberg, Nolan or Lucas. In terms of film buffs, Snyder has competition with a lot of strong directors and producers, like Lord and Miller, Reeves, and many more. While his style has a substantial amount of fans, his films tend to be divisive. I don't think he'll be remembered as one of the greats.
  13. 3 sellouts already for Jedi at North Shore Thursday night:
  14. Jumanji can still be a dark horse though. Shame about Ferdinand. The marketing for it was awful. It went from cute but heartwarming animated movie from the teaser to generic animal comedy from the recent trailer.
  15. Still there's a point to where it gets annoying. My Ninjago stanning is an example of that.
  16. As we all know, animation is a lucrative business in the box office market. However I wonder if we'll reach oversaturation. In 2020, Universal will release four animated films, all sequels to IPs like Trolls, Croods, Minions and Sing, Fox is trying 2 a year with it's Locksmith partnership but can have 3 thanks to Bobs Burgers, Disney has 3 originals and Sony has 4, and with WB and Paramount also likely doing 2 a year, the marketspace can get competitive. Any thoughts?
  17. Critics have a job first and foremost to review and no whiny fanboys will influence reviews or gross.
  18. I doubt the majority of the GA knows about flame wars between both sides.
  19. The JL thread is a prime example on how both sides to blame. On one hand, if you thought that JL wouldn't have the best reception or $400M+/$1B+, you were deemed a hater and sometimes attacked. On the other hand, there was decent sized trolling from some people on the JL thread, there's no denying that and people could easily both some stuff up in the franchise wars thread. This thread is also a great example of both sides to blame.
