With all pearl clutching in this thread about what the next Bond movies should do, I’m surprised we haven’t had anybody go the “it needs to be hard R!” argument yet. Or is that one we periodically only get in spandex movie discourse?
I’m old enough to remember Vin Diesel’s XXX had a meta joke about 007 being out of touch by having a tux wearing spy show up as a rave.
of course that joke hasn’t aged well at all. 007 has always evolved, flowed with the times and trends. With each new Bond, they tend to rebook him to fit the new guy.
Honestly if not for the Fox/Max contractual reality, Disney would’ve dumped this on Plus or Hulu if they could’ve.
then again same Disney that wanted to do that with Free Guy (or at least a PA thing) but couldn’t because of said contracts. Knowing that with FG’s success still blows my mind.
Makes as much sense as anything. Or Sony is just incompetent.
I mean apparently Sony forgot to hand over Hotel Transylvania 4 to Amazon (who bought it) and it was suppose to come out this past weekend, provoking a flood of angry complaints from parents on twitter.
Yeah Sony screwed themselves without that extra open weekend they could've had.
Then again if not for SC's OW, Sony very well might've pushed V2 way back to January. You win some, you lose some...
Nevermind that people (if motivated or just bored) are able to cook up their own head canons to wave off many potential questions. Sometimes that's part of the fun.
I assume he's already made out an "escape" plan whenever its time to exit fame, stage left. Reminds me of Highlander where they make a point to explain (in a memorable bit) how Christopher Lambert is able to periodically fake his death, take another identity (usually some dead orphan nobody will care twice to investigate), last testament and will himself his stuff, and rinse/repeat.
