If you have already something in mind to believe, no amount of screenshot can reverse that course.
Pretty ironic how the "anti-conspiracists" are going full conspiracy with this movie.

How many franchises or original movies that depict the life of adventurer with the plot of going around the world, uncover secrets, fighting bad guys, full of mystery, focused on ancient history lore and fun real life world journey??? Just a few and almost none.
There's a reason for that.
(And it's closely related to this being a massive bomb outside of the G7 countries)

This will do good if the VFX are good. People heavily underestimate the effect of bad CGI.

Launching the DC universe with yet another Superman is risky tbh.
Society isn't too hot on the whole "hopeful and perfect superhero" and after DC itself butchered "Dark" Superman (+ The Boys / Invincible nailing it)... what's left for them to do?
If there's someone that can pull it off it's Gunn, but it doesn't sound like they're reading the room.

Current Pokemon generations are not accessible and not really mainstream anymore.
A "classic" Pokemon movie with Ash/Pikachu and the main story could do similar numbers to these. Pokemon fans might be harder to please so that's another big difference.

This should be Marvel's top priority. By far.
Wakanda Forever is the only film that has looked decent in so long. How do they plan on keep getting the "big screen spectacle" money if these movies end up looking a cheap (!) Spy Kids?
(+ we all know audiences would be more forgiving overall)

Most of it was terrible but at least Marvel seems to be taking their time building up Kang. Looks like he'll be a recurring villain across many movies and it basically set up the incursions plot.
This needed Avengers-level VFX, not pandemic level.

Looks great and all but it’s still giving Spy Kids

People do realize that inflation + recession isn't good for box-office, right?

I think the people who rage about female superheroes weren't really here for Black Panther, even before, and were probably the ones mad that it got more Oscars attention than Infinity War (while insisting they "don't care" about awards). So picking a female BP would be immaterial to them, as in their opinion, the existence of Black Panther movies at all is a sign of how Disney has gone "too woke" or whatever.
I disagree, not everyone is a bigot towards the same people. For example, Black guys (or girls, self-hate happens in every community) can be misogynistic and most likely wouldn't have any problem with the previous movie. Then we have the closet cases disguising themselves as comic-book purists. People find weird ways to justify their hatred.
I truly hope this discourse around every movie stops soon because it's exhausting.

People are vastly overestimating how much people actually care about the Letitia controversy. We do know that a certain corner of the internet will meltdown over a female BP so I see why they would want to avoid having 2 shitstorms at the same time, though.
Beyond all that, Lupita would still be a better choice so I hope it's her.

So I have a theory as to what marvel is planning:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_War_(comics)
They had to change the name due to secret wars
This made me realize that Feige not only has the X-Men in case things go wrong (popularity wise), he also has Avengers vs X-Men. The MCU is never going to end.

Very tiresome dynamic nowadays where people can make shitty adaptational choices, racebend a few people, and when people complain about narrative choices a bunch of other people will pop up to insinuate that awkshually the complainers must be racist.
I guess if you’re going to make a bunch of unneeded non racial changes, that means it’s now smart to do a few racial changes as well to cash in on this defensive dynamic. I wonder if anyone has done this deliberately yet.
I completely agree with the point but can we at least wait until the show is out to see how shitty this actually is? Because it does feel very racially motivated so far.

With the Todd/Bradley connection and seeing how fast this was announced I'd say she was the first choice (wouldn't rule out it was written with her in mind, it's a musical after all).
Now... it being a musical titled after a psychiatric term starring Gaga as Harley Quinn sounds like an origin story.

Eternals is a weird one because I've seen people who hate the MCU say something like "can't believe how critics gave Spider-Man positive reviews but gave the Chloe Zhao movie bad reviews."
This is the Marvel's main problem currently but it's what's going to save them long-term, which is probably what happened with comics.
The MCU is making films for different audiences ("Grounded", Cosmic, Magic, etc), but Marvel is just too popular and interconnected (now) for anyone to miss anything. Eternals is good but there's a certain demographic that loves it, I absolutely adore MoM but I can see why general audiences wouldn't like it as much. Same with the D+ shows.
But there's "always" going to be a Marvel property that is a must-see for an audience, a new Marvel franchise to check out and a big massive event for everyone.
-
Do we have any numbers on repeat views in the post-Covid/streaming era? I'd say Marvel (+ SW and Disney musicals) might suffer more due to their strong connection to the Disney brand (unlike HboMax titles, the others are not big enough to cause damage tbh).

Even with that, I just personally don't think it's interesting as a plot point. I think seeing Wanda slowly but surely get to this point over the course of another movie (if not two) before hitting her Disassembled/House of M personality would've worked better. Have her as an ally of Strange here but slowly but surely growing sick of his rule breaking, his hypocrisy, his arrogance etc while the Darkhold influenced her subtly.
I'd say we have seen plenty of Wanda to justify her going mad.

I do wanna know what were the pre-release expectations were because I avoided basically everything except the main teaser/trailer/poster and it does feel like it has a lot of cameos and sets up +10 Marvel properties. If anything, my main criticism about the movie is that it feels a bit too Ultron-ish in that sense.
But I have also seen an overwhelmingly positive reaction from the Wanda stans so who knows. I'd totally love a WandaVision 2nd season exploring the aftermath for that Wanda (which could be a soft reboot, explore the Magneto relationship and evil Wanda can return for whatever massive crossover event this is clearly leading up to)

There seems to be a lot of people completely disconnected from reality in this thread.
Imagine thinking that the same company that looks the other way on a country committing genocide just so they can keep profiting from crimes against humanity is going to "punish" Florida over a bill prohibiting teaching kids about genders and sexual orientation.
Still hilarious how the press baited Disney into this mess, though.

3rd week at #1 for the soundtrack in the US
2nd week at #1 for "Bruno" in the UK
#1 Movie in Nielsen streaming rankings (above Don't Look Up in their first full week)
This really became a phenomenon after hitting D+

US Albums
1. Encanto (2 weeks at #1) (first Disney soundtrack since Frozen to spend more than 1 week at #1)
US Songs
2. We Dont Talk About Bruno (second highest peaking song from a Disney soundtrack)
10. Surface Pressure (first time a Disney soundtrack has 2 songs in the Top10)
The soundtrack's success is insane.

This is so important. If taking down Endgame becomes an actual possibility and gets media coverage... her fans will 100% sure she takes it.
I'd say she's on track to do 150m, but if the hype gets big enough for +250m...
