I AGREE, I'm sick and tired of all these horror movies not brutally dismembering and killing these bratty, useless kids and thank god the It series is here to correct that. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO SAY IT BY GOD. Enough with all this "only teens and young adults can meet their gruesome end, no kids" nonsense. I say that little punk Danny had what was coming to him and it should've been him instead of Scatman Crothers, riding his little scooter around thinking he was the shit.

Honestly this is why I loved the movie.

It wasn't scared of going there. The homophobic attack was gruesome and visceral (I saw some warnings on Twitter and still was a bit triggered by it), it didn't try to soften it for audiences. That plus the violent husband, the rape references and the kids being killed felt brutal but they also didn't look like just shock value.

As someone that didn't read the book, I thought this was way better than "Chapter I" and my only complaint is that the scares are indeed a bit repetitive.

Biggest takeaway, everyone should visit Cartgena des Indias. Stunning city.

Will doesn't age so de-aging doesn't really drive the point, lol. Great acting, though. Looks interesting.

Oh shit. I didn't even notice it at first.

After visiting earlier this year I thought "why don't they shoot movies here? Everything is so beautiful". Now I'll have to watch it.

  3. Marvel can certainly make it standalone now and have a big connection to Thanos by the end of the trilogy (like having him as a supporting character on the sequel and main villain in the third). I'd also guess that if this one's a big hit they'll try to fast-track the 2 sequels since they are inmortal beings and aging it's a big factor (especially since some of the cast are already +40)

His character is straight. Richard is likely bisexual and will remain a glass closeted/I don't discuss my personal life type.

The gay/bi character was Hercules and they didn't cast him. I think we can say the rumor is untrue now.

Oh, was it a gay character too?

Anyway I still think Richard can still come out by then and Marvel is just waiting for him to be ready for it. He's basically out already.

At least they seem to be more open with Valkyrie in the next Thor, baby steps.

  5. It's not a competition lol. Everyone trying to out-woke eachother.

Halle Bailley is really talented. There's no reason for Ariel not to be black. Disney tries to appeal to the widest demographic, hence why they're putting diversity in the front. That's it.

This kinda turned into a meme in Latin America (mostly semi-controversial but not really rejecting it) so there's huge awareness already.

I think that Endgame is so continuity-heavy and basically impenetrable without seeing at least 60-70% of the MCU makes its record impressive in its own right.

If you've seen 60-70% of these movies (13 to 15!!!) you're also more likely to spend money on merchandising or other Marvel-related stuff.

So it's really outstanding how Marvel has become such a big brand. I'm sure it'll keep making money on Disney princesses / Star Wars level for generations.

(This has nothing to do with the other movie)

950 ww is more or less certain for TS4

Is on 771 after 20.7 dom weekend and 48.1 os weekend.

54 more dom for 400 total will give it 825.

110-115 more os after a 48.1 weekend + Germany to come will take it to 950.

Hugely profitable film ... Dom itself will give about 240 theatrical returns and OS about 210 for 450 globally with surely huge auxiliary revenue to follow.

It will make at least $70m more from Japan.

So doing $45m off a $33m OS-Japan weekend is way too little. More like $65-80m for a $970-985m being really conservative.

$1b is more likely than not at this point.

So striving for equal opportunities for minorities and LGBTQ members is making a mockery of real activism? I’d ask if you think before you type or if you read your post before submitting but given your post history on the last 3 pages alone, the answer is a clear No.

It wouldn't be a mockery if this was the actual outcome.

The whole "Scarlett playing a trans character" controversy didn't mean more opportunities for trans. Since Scarlett was the only reason the movie was in development, her dropping out means no one gets the role. It means less exposure for LGBT characters in a positive way and it means less jobs (some of which might or might not have been minorities too).

The whole "Scarlett playing an asian robot" (?) controversy did not mean more opportunities for Asians, It means Hollywood staying away from Anime adaptations after a long string of flops, which means less revenue for the Japanese studios and less funding for potential new projects and less people getting paid (not that the Japanese industry needs any american help, but more money for an industry is always better)

So yes, trying to be "woke" fishing for likes online ends up being a mockery and counterproductive. You want to help the minorities? Support them. Give the few projects that star LGBT/Asian characters a chance, there's also plenty of people trying to make it locally, doing a play at a theater near you, singing at a bar, etc.

If there's something Hollywood executives love more than discriminating minorities is making money. Tweeting about how privileged is Scarlett (the same actress that made way less money than her costars on the biggest film franchise of all time just because she is a woman) is not really helping anyone.

  9. Going from 7 $400m grossers to just 1 in a year sounds unlikely.

The last "weak" year was 2014, which went from 3 $400m grossers to 0. But it went from 4 $300m grossers to 3 and stayed flat on $200m grossers (13 each year)

We know that Disney and especially the MCU has a huge shot to breakout in a big way (I'd also add Mulan here, you never know). So while WW84 is the clear frontrunner DOM, I wouldn't be surprised by some of the other 3 winning.

Mulan is the frontrunner WW unless it gets banned in China.

Excellent. Hopefully strong weekdays and a sub 50% dip this weekend.

It's gonna be interesting seeing a MCU movie avoid the "big drops in 2nd and 3rd weekends with strong late legs" pattern that has been going on for a few years.

The usual +55-60% drop would be terrible for a deflated OW. If it follows TASM with ~45% that'd be O/U $50m second weekend which sounds like a nice target.
