  1. Any early word about The Post ? any one knows anything ??
  2. He was not as bad as blunt tbh , the movie was ok too
  3. Can a movie not about sexuality/race/politics/Hollywood win ? or must they send a message every year ? a Lady Bird win would be very refreshing for example
  4. is hollywood racist ? hell yeah , most people are but trying to correct a wrong with another wrong is utterly stupid , nominating people based on skin color or political agenda instead of merit could be acceptable if the number of nominees was not limited , but this is a zero sum game , someone getting in for such purposes means someone else arguably more deserving was left out this happened to amy adams last year when she lost her spot to negga and streep who were not half as good as her but it's ok because the category was not all white ( streep got in for bashing trump ) after all the award season is for diversity not awarding the most competent I guess
  5. I don't know man , a horror comedy that is not scary nor funny that turns out to be some sort of fantasy sci fi thing with a very mediocre last 15 minutes SHOULD get nominated ? It was good but not that good tbh If the academy does nominate a genre movie maybe either War of the planet of the apes or Logan would be the better option
  6. Exactly , but idiots can't realize that so it's either nominate this person if deserved , if not , nominate a mediocre role to be inclusive
  7. what is this ? a quota system ? voting should be based on merit or skin color ? if a person of a certain color or ethnicity is not nominated does that mean the academy went racist in the span of a year despite having the same members ?
  8. how many weeks minimum a movie needs to play in theaters to be eligible ?
  9. Was there a big budget box office flop getting into most awards other than Hugo recently ?
  10. Well , there goes BR2049's chances out the window
  11. anyone worried the post becomes this year's silence ?
  12. Deakins is already writing his acceptance speech
  13. Visually people , visually there aren't many people in BR2049 but the visuals , productions design and cinematography are otherworldly
  14. watch it and judge , you can't find even one minute that is not a visual achievement
  15. Just watched BR2049 , makes MMFR look easy 5 or 6 tech nominations guaranteed , also director and picture most likely
  16. so you think it has a reasonable shot outside of acting ?
  17. IDK why but Darkest hour seems to me like it will be this year's The Master
  18. So Del Toro and Nolan are very close to being locked in , McDonagh , Guadagnino and Villeneuve are in a great spot for now Rees might have a better chance than Gerwig , Aronofsky is dead , Baker and Wright could happen and I don't want to say anything about Spielberg because last years " Silence " was a good lesson
  19. I know what they would be in for but it could be argued that Martin McDonagh , Sean Baker , Luca Guadagnino , Joe Wright and Dee Rees are in a better position , not to mention Spielberg who can always get in
  20. Early buzz surrounding BR2049 is very encouraging
  21. you guys really think Get out is happening ??? I know political correctness runs deep but come on
  22. I hope Blade Runner 49 doesn't disappoint , that and Shape of water are the only possible ones to make this an interesting year ( yeah , I know the others are really good but most of them were made for the award season so nobody will be surprised if they got in )
  23. I don't think Timothee Chalamet is happening , same for hanks the general consensus about dunkirk is that it's missing the human element , that is why it is not gonna get acting noms or win BD
