  1. "The sooner I deliver the finale, the sooner I can launch all the spinoffs," and then he extends the finale a whole movie lol
  2. The Last Crusade is the best in the series (only just), it's Spielberg's funniest movie and Indy has more personal stakes in the story.
  3. Presumably not much happened. It's probably a pretty competent script, just not interesting what so ever.
  4. I don't mind Jaws 2 that much, I agree Roy Scheider carries it far. I also find Fallen Kingdom quite interesting but 90% from a directing standpoint. But no doubt if I were to rank the franchises all the Spielberg entries would end up safely on top. And now if Dial of Destiny is as uninteresting and stale as the reviews make it seem then it's definitely heading to the bottom of my Indy list. Even the franchises where Spielberg makes a merely passable sequel himself (TLW & KotCS) they still can't seem to be topped.
  5. There is the very real Lucasfilm curse but there's also the Spielberg franchise problem where the second you take him out of the director's chair and start making sequels they just don't work. I know the first Jurassic World survived with solid reviews, but that thing aged like milk fast. It's all the Jaws sequels, Jurassic sequels and now the non-Spielberg Indiana Jones sequel. He made the right choice to step away to make other more personal movies, but I would've loved to see him have some fun with this one.
  6. No Time To Die is very good and we're not doing some revisionism that critics didn't like it on release. There were plenty flat out glowing reviews.
  7. This is really what is missing, peaking with a few 4/5s at the start is not promising.
  8. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-12101013/BRIAN-VINER-reviews-Indiana-Jones-Dial-Destiny.html 3/5 https://www.standard.co.uk/culture/film/indiana-jones-and-the-dial-of-destiny-review-harrison-ford-phoebe-waller-bridge-b1082225.html 3/5 Funny to note that Vanity Fair, The Times, indiewire, and The Irish Times were all identically negative/mixed about Dune when the early reviews hit (same critics) and TotalFilm, Empire, Deadline, Independent, Guardian, Evening Standard, TheWrap, South China Morning Post and DailyMail were positive (but to different degrees usually heavily favoring Dune). Out of like 16 reviews total so far that's a pretty wild overlap. EDIT: And now we can add David Rooney of The Hollywood Reporter as one of the similarly negative reviews for both movies.
  9. So this is pretty much the results of the first wave. Can be considered a disastrous start.
  10. 2 more rottens posted which means it's down to 43%. Also down to 51 on MC with 9 reviews.
