Back in January first week this year, I wonder how many thought NWH would have poor legs after holidays based on how similar both Rogue One and NWH weekdays were in that week..total 3rd week numbers were also very similar for both Rogue One, NWH....fast forward couple of months, NWH ends up collecting more than double of what Rogue One did for rest of run ($170M vs $76M). What this tells me is NWH is a better comparison for Avatar2 legs than Rogue One as both released in post-pandemic era and both had very little competition in January which for me seems like a lot more critical factor here for legs.
Jan Week1 Weekdays:
Tuesday:
NoWayHome - $5.9M
Rogue One - $6.2M
Wednesday:
NoWayHome - $4.4M
Rogue One - $4.2M
Thursday:
NoWayHome - $3.9M
Rogue One - $3.9M
Overall 3rd Week:
NoWayHome - $78M
Rogue One - $79M

Considering how similar weekdays in Jan 1st week were for both Rogue One and NWH, I'd say you'll have to wait until Jan 6th-8th weekend to get a good idea about Avatar2 legs.

It was the Tuesday. It make 15M in the Monday and then 6M in the Tuesday. I mean, a big drop is always expected after New Year's, but it dropped 60% from Monday and 72% from the previous Tuesday.
it wasn't just Rogue One...NWH did also fall pretty hard to $5.9M on Tuesday (Jan 4th)
-
Interestingly both Rogue One and NWH had very similar numbers on Wednesday, Thursday of Jan First week. Wednesday + Thursday for Rogue One was $8.1M whereas it was $8.3M. It was only from the following weekend, Rogue One started falling behind NWH significantly in dailies and NWH ended up making almost double of Rogue One for rest of the run...makes we wonder how much of an advantage it was for NWH to have such a weak slate in January, something which might apply for Avatar2 too. Rogue One seems to have had much tougher competition

Compared to NWH, A2 seems to be overperforming in Europe, whereas it's lagging behind in LATAM.

$1.9M Tuesday as per BO Pro. Mere 5% drop from last Tuesday and around $580M by now. Shall be on par with Wakanda Forever by New Year's and on par with Multiverse of Madness before holidays are over.
what are your expectations right now for full run ? Can it do $55M USD ?

2nd week Weekdays seem to be holding quite well....2nd Week's Nett is going to be around 97-98Cr Nett (120Cr Gross). Where would this rank among all time 2nd Week grossers in India ? Baahubali2, KGF2, RRR, PK, Dangal, Kashmir Files, Bajrangi Bhaijaan are probably ahead...any other movies that are ahead of Avatar2 in 2nd week ?

Top Movies All Time (lc)
35 575,974,938 Avatar (2009)
39 542,900,000 Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
The Avatar sequel kicks Star Wars: The Force Awakens out of the Top 50.
Is StarWars not a big thing in Mexico ? Also is MCU the biggest brand in Mexico among Hollywood movies ?

If you think DOM performance is boring just turn to OS and let's all be happy together
OS numbers has been a delight to follow for more than a week now, to a point where 2B is kinda an actual possibility now even with DOM being boring and China situation
Agree...it's been lot of fun following OS numbers. Today's (26th) Italy number was stunning

Overseas run has definitely been more interesting and exciting to follow than Domestic run for this movie

do we have Monday number for France ?

For comparison, NWH last year collected around 5.6Cr gross on it's 2nd Monday. Avatar2's 2nd Monday is gonna be almost close to triple of that around 16Cr

we need to found if there’s any holiday in India,if this drop is based on no hoilday, then we can say this is really leggy run
December 26th isn't a public holiday in India but this is also start of holiday period. Usually Winter holidays for schools start from Christmas or NewYear and go on until Jan first week or Jan 2nd week. In some states winter holidays are from Dec 25th to Jan 7th and in some states they might start on Jan 1st and go on until Jan 15th. So there will be some boost due to these Winter holiday period

BoxofficIndia just gave Monday update..they have 2nd Monday to be actually slightly higher than 2nd Friday. 2nd Friday was around 15Cr whereas 2nd Monday is projected to be around 15-16.5Cr. Excellent hold. Cirkus, the new Bollywood release this week looks like a huge disaster...so no significant competition for Avatar until Jan 11th in South India and until Jan 26th in North India

Very good hold... almost equal to 2nd Friday

Oh, I interpreted that post as $32m for Christmas Day, not for Monday.
he was actually referring to Christmas Day when he said $32M...not for Monday

I feel like Charlie is still messing with us...I really doubt Studio would have underestimated Sunday number almost by 50%

I wonder why they are projecting only 21% growth for A2 on Monday whereas Puss In Boots, BP2, Babylon etc are projected growth of 30-40% on Monday. Even Fabelmans is being projected to have almost 70% growth on Monday. Then you have Violent Night where they are actually projecting a decrease of 30% on Monday which I find bit surprising.

Japan easily has been the biggest disappointment.
