I believe (but someone can correct me if I'm wrong) that The Lion King (2019) has the record in Portugal. Somewhere around €7.6M

that seems right...Joker also seems to have done better than EndGame there (€5.5M vs €4.3M). TGM did around €4.8M, NWH did around €3.7M, DS2 did €1.9M...doesn't seem to be a SuperHero crazy market

  2. Finally caught the movie. I loved it...I found this better than first part. Maybe could have trimmed few minutes in the middle but I honestly didn't really feel the long runtime. I think when compared to first part, what I liked more in this one is that I cared more for the characters in the movie. For all the talk about how there aren't many memorable characters from Avatar1, I feel like this movie puts that talk to bed. Kids characters were excellent...Tuk especially was absolutely adorable and Kiri was quite interesting. I liked the part in the end where Neytiri unleashed her rage. Spider was also an interesting character..I think he will probably play much bigger role in the following parts. Visually as expected it was stunning.

I have seen lot of Avatar2 characters fan accounts popping up on twitter over the last week..especially for Neytiri, Tuk, Kiri.

Can anyone post the highest 3rd weekend gross in india?

Wanna know how will Avatar land

Among Hollywood movies, current 3rd weekend highest grossers are both EndGame and NWH around 16Crores ($2M)...Avatar2 might do close to triple of that this weekend. There is also a chance that Avatar2's third weekend gross will be in top3 all-time even when you consider Indian movies

It's because most of the movie strongest run part is over.

The movie box office is also slowing down in strong markets like India and China. For the important markets, only France and Korea are still doing great (the movie is on a flat line in these countries since 2 weeks lol), but it will be the end of holidays in France on tuesday 12/27, so it will also lose a lot after that.

By your own calculus, it would need to do $550M in 11 days, which would be a lot.

huh ? Who said it's slowing down in India ? It's holding extremely strong so far in 2nd week which is very unusual for a Hollywood big movie in India......it's 2nd week gross is going to be almost 75% higher than previous 2nd week record among Hollywood movies. It's 3rd week gross is going to be higher than 2nd week gross of every other Hollywood movie.

I think Bahubali was typical hamlet story we seen in india so many times but it combined hindu mythological elements like Ramayan and Mahabharta with never before seen epic scale.

The scheming uncle was so much like Shokini from Mahabharat lol

This scene seems like a parallel to Ramayan when ram gets exiled.

Stuff like this really connected with audiences across india north to south unlike anything I can recall as these are universial indian themes and stories.

  6. There were so many goosebumps scenes in Baahubali series. My favorite one was when Sivagami announces baby Mahendra Baahubali as the new king in Baahubali2...background music takes that scene to whole new level. I remember watching the movie on first day in a SingleScreen in India and it was absolutely crazy in the theater during that scene...one of the my top3 theatrical experiences.

  7. Looking back at NWH's run, it only did 3M in 2nd week weekdays (Dec 27th-Dec 30th)...Avatar2 seems to be on track to do almost triple of that during this weekdays around €8.5M. Avatar2 does seem to have advantage of national holiday on December 26th
