We'll be getting 8-9 MCU projects every year from 2021 onwards if we count the Disney+ seasons
Guardians 3 is likely to be a 2023 release in all honesty, I can't see Gunn having it ready for release less than a year after The Suicide Squad comes out, no matter how "early" the latter is filming. Thus, 2022 will probably consist of Blade in February, Black Panther 2 in May and Ant-Man 3 in July, with at least one of the Disney+ series announced at D23 debuting.
BP2 seemingly being positioned as Marvel's flagship title of that year makes me very pleased.

We're already getting 4 MCU movies in 2021, and with the reports circulating that this is slated for 2022, there's a decent chance we might get the same amount that year too (Black Panther 2 confirmed, Ant-Man 3 seemingly confirmed, Guardians 3 and Blade up in the air).

Dafoe needs to be in this or BA.
He's being pushed by the studio in this category, which is very competitive, so it'll be tough to get a nomination though I think he has an outside shot.

Saw an advance screening of this last night. I don't see this being very audience-friendly for a number of reasons (the length, lack of traditional jump scares or just scares in general), but I have to commend Flanagan for his commitment to telling character-driven horror stories, though this plays more like a psychological thriller. The time spent with the antagonists (The True Knot) in particular was so pleasing, and Rebecca Ferguson crushes it as you would expect.
Overall I would recommend this with some reservations, but I would be intrigued to revisit it at some point because, as he demonstrated with The Haunting of Hill House, Flanagan has probably left some neat easter eggs or subtle visual motifs lingering throughout.

I highly doubt Suicide Squad needs such a lengthy post-production period so I bet it moves forward too.
WB seems to allow lengthy periods of post-production for their DC films though: BVS wrapped in December 2014 iirc so it had approximately 15 months for post, Wonder Woman 1984 has been afforded similar gap between filming and the release.

This surge of casting news reminds me of the almost daily updates we got regarding Dune's ensemble earlier this year.

This might be the most intriguing category of the big 8 right now for me; so many iconic actors in contention for highly praised work. I'd love for Pacino to win a 2nd Oscar for a performance in a movie that is actually acclaimed this time, but he doesn't necessarily stretch himself to any great extent - he is just doing what he does best. Pitt winning his first acting Oscar for that role in OUATIH would be quite strange to me but also pretty amazing. Hanks is the other strong contender here of course, can't wait to see that performance and that film in general in December.

Over the past 3 weeks I binged this show and caught up before S02E09 aired. I was in love with it prior to last night's episode, but 'This is Not for Tears' cemented Succession as one of my favorite current TV shows, and specifically Kendall Roy as one of my favorite TV characters. While there is much debate right now over which property will succeed Game of Thrones as the hottest fantasy television program, this has taken the baton from that juggernaut in delivering great political intrigue and captivating family drama. Season 3 can't come soon enough.

after FFH sequel being dated on same weekend as this. where is MI7 gonna move?
They're not dated for the same weekend, MI7 is opening the weekend after Spidey 3 as it stands. However, I feel like they could push it to July 30th, as the last weekend of that month has been the sweet spot for this series between Rogue Nation and Fallout. The main issue with this proposal would be that Suicide Squad 2 opens a week later, much stronger competition than the past 2 movies faced.
July 2021 is going to be shaken up anyway because right now there are so many tentpoles with similar target demographics releasing too close to each other (Indy 5, Sing 2, Spidey 3, Space Jam 2, MI7).

Saw a lot of kids in my screening too. Kind of funny though. Most of them probably came in expecting something like The Martian.
Funny you say that, because my dad saw it too and afterwards he told me that it wasn't as enjoyable as The Martian. I was like: "Well....yeah, but it wasn't designed to be as entertaining as The Martian".
This is where the initial marketing may have hurt its potential general audience reception. I remember being underwhelmed by the first trailer because it gave me Gravity/ The Martian vibes, which were not what I was expecting from Gray. However, it was edited in a way that contained a broader audience appeal, something the movie itself doesn't carry imo.

Very curious to know what the 9/10-year-olds in my screening made of their (probable) first experience of a James Gray film.
I really liked this overall but can't see general audiences taking to it unfortunately. I found it to be a lot more emotionally engaging than The Lost City of Z and ranks just above Two Lovers as my favorite Gray film. I'm still waiting to fully adore one of his works but he's clearly a very gifted filmmaker.

Is the running time only 89 minutes? That seems very short
It's not short for this series. The longest of them is Rambo III at 106 minutes, and the previous movie was around 90 too. That's one thing I appreciate about these movies - given their fairly basic premise they don't tend to overstay their welcome.

Pleased to see such great notices for Zellweger. In an ideal world her co-star in this movie, Jessie Buckley, would be nominated alongside her for the latter's amazing performance in Wild Rose, which is one of 2019's most overlooked films.
I want to familarise myself with more of Garland's work before seeing this. Having obviously seen The Wizard of Oz as well as the 1950's version of A Star is Born, what's the next best Garland performance to check out?

For the record, these reviews are not exclusively from TIFF attendees, it's been screening to press for a week or so and the embargo only lifted after its premiere at the festival, similar to Joker which had screened in the US for members of smaller publications alongside the trades covering Venice.

I wanted SKB to happen ever since Fatchaka (that's Black panther's fat dad) killed him in BP. His next plane of existence scene with Erik was the best acted of all the movie and I felt for his character the most and was really pissed that his brother killed him, lied about what happened and got away with it. Hail Zemo for killing the king's fat ass in CW! You have no idea how moved I was by SKB in BP and how long I want justice for SKB so seeing him as a nominee would be amazing.
Any idea what his placement would be, Lead or Supporting? The movie sounds like an ensemble with the focus on the son (first part) and the daughter (second part) but SKB is a big presence in both.
I'd imagine he'll go Supporting, not just because of the nature of his role in the film itself but because he has a far greater chance of being nominated there than Lead given how competitive the latter is.

I've been a huge fan of this guy since Son of Rambow, so I'm really excited to see him in this.

Hopefully they release Ant-Man 3 in the UK and Ireland on the same week as the US this time given that the World Cup is not until December.
