Why do people always exaggerate the length of movies even slightly over 2 hours? The film is long sure but there is a big difference between 2.5 hours and 3 hours.

They aren't going to kill her off and I would never advocate for such a lazy Disney Star Wars style solution but anyone who thinks that Carol Danvers is leading the next Avengers movie is in for a rude awakening.

The sequel to a 1.1 billion dollar MCU movie is about to make around 80% less. That is a massive deal. I do think people should stop saying that the MCU is dead and that no comic book movie will ever make any money again but that's like a million red flags for the genre as a whole and especially the MCU. So, the people also down playing this disaster are not in the right either.

I wouldn't blame sexism for The Marvels (or Captain Marvel) inability to attract a bigger female audience.
Maybe sexism could be involved on men rejecting this movie too. However, it would be a little weird to blame men when The Marvels goal was to attract women.
The truth is that women didn't want to see The Marvels but that fact is too painful for people who were ready to blame something else to reckon with.

Joker is the only R rated film that has done 1 billion. Oppenheimer came close but didn't do it. It's so rare for an R rated film to even get within 300M of 1 billion, that's exactly why people are doubtful that Deadpool 3 can hit that number.

Please remember that The Marvels flopping doesn't mean that Brie Larson haters or incel YouTube won. Those people are full of bitterness and hate. They win nothing. The Marvels flopping means that Disney is going to lose a lot of money. It means a lot of other things too but it does not mean that men who live their lives in hatred have won anything.

Well, I'm going to keep discussing The Marvels flopping and the larger implications on the MCU. Because this is a weekend thread about The Marvels. I can't stop MCU fans from coping by bringing up Joker 2 and every other DC movie.

I don't understand this talk I keep seeing about Elemental legs for The Marvels. It's something I keep seeing fans bring up on social media like Twitter and Reddit and I don't see what Pixar legs and Marvel legs have in common? Captain Marvel had a solid 2.76 multiplier, how does that translate to the sequel having a 5.2 multiplier. Name one Marvel movie in the MCU that has a 5.2 multiplier. I believe Guardians 1 has the highest multiplier followed closely by Black Panther. The best case scenario is a 3.5 multiplier.

Looking at these early numbers, I can't imagine them selling a new Avengers movie off the back of Captain Marvel. She's supposed to be a replacement for Captain America but nobody likes her as much as Captain America. She was the least interesting thing ever in her own 1.1 billion dollar film.

I'm guessing B+ for The Marvels. It screams B+ to me. If it gets a B then it has no chance of legs and even with a B+ I still think it only gets a 2.4 multi at best.

Hearing that the villain sucked is not shocking to me. They barely marketed her and she looks like just another Ronan and he sucked too.

I was predicting 100M opening weekend until those tracking numbers came out. I'm glad when the fine trackers on here said the film was selling poorly that I didn't have my head in the clouds and deny it. There's just no use in doing that.
