I'm a bit confused why they didn't move up one week. Would have given them Veterans day on weekend 2 and given them 2 weeks of IMAX and PLF. Now it wastes the Veterans day boost and loses the highest grossing screens within a week. The drop next weekend won't be pretty.

The drop in weekend 2 would never be pretty because it has a B Cinemascore.

The comparison between Barbie and The Marvels isn't really right. The biggest audience for Barbie were women, which doesn't seem to be the case for The Marvels.

I wouldn't blame sexism for The Marvels (or Captain Marvel) inability to attract a bigger female audience.

Maybe sexism could be involved on men rejecting this movie too. However, it would be a little weird to blame men when The Marvels goal was to attract women.

The truth is that women didn't want to see The Marvels but that fact is too painful for people who were ready to blame something else to reckon with.

People are forgetting Joker did $1bn in 2019. I'm not saying Deadpool 3 will do it but it's not impossible

Joker is the only R rated film that has done 1 billion. Oppenheimer came close but didn't do it. It's so rare for an R rated film to even get within 300M of 1 billion, that's exactly why people are doubtful that Deadpool 3 can hit that number.

  4. Please remember that The Marvels flopping doesn't mean that Brie Larson haters or incel YouTube won. Those people are full of bitterness and hate. They win nothing. The Marvels flopping means that Disney is going to lose a lot of money. It means a lot of other things too but it does not mean that men who live their lives in hatred have won anything.

I don't think any of us discussing this are specifically MCU fans. I know you started becoming much more active on this forum than you've ever been because of this movie, but we can talk about other movies in the genre and discuss the future of them.

Actually I started being more active on this thread because anti abortion weirdos and the Snydercult nuked my original Twitter account. Lol

  6. I don't understand this talk I keep seeing about Elemental legs for The Marvels. It's something I keep seeing fans bring up on social media like Twitter and Reddit and I don't see what Pixar legs and Marvel legs have in common? Captain Marvel had a solid 2.76 multiplier, how does that translate to the sequel having a 5.2 multiplier. Name one Marvel movie in the MCU that has a 5.2 multiplier. I believe Guardians 1 has the highest multiplier followed closely by Black Panther. The best case scenario is a 3.5 multiplier.

I think sometimes about how much better Marvel's standing, and the whole genre for that matter, would be if they just ended things with Endgame. Like that movie isn't a perfect finale, but it ends everything on a high note, all the character arcs are wrapped up. Everybody's in a happy mood, people feel content and happy, and the toys will keep on selling.

These past few years really show that sometimes it's okay for franchises to just end. And this isn't a Marvel thing, it's an every franchise thing.

So Guardians didn't deserve a 3rd movie to end out the trilogy? Why not?
