  1. Well from an extremely positive point of view, getting released in China and earning a few dollars is still better than not getting released at all. Needless to say, no one expected China to support DC/The Batman as they did for Marvel in the past.
  2. To be fair, they did like Zhao until the drama resurfaced, which forced them to censor anything that is related to her. Zhao is a daughter of a stage actress and a military man, she's also the niece of a provincial governor or whatever. Feige hired Zhao before she got the Oscar so it's not like Marvel was aiming for an Oscar with Eternals at the time either like a lot of people assumed. Shang Chi's character had a racist background with the whole Fu Manchu stuff, which Feige already had to explain again in the weibo's online interview in 2021 but it's obvious that CCP still decided to ban the film and SC character nevertheless. I don't think Disney and Chapek would give up on China, and so does Feige.
  3. Jumanji lucked out because TLJ killed off Luke Skywalker, which pissed off SW fans, however, I don't think Shazam 2 would get the same opportunity
  4. Now on Twitter and reddit it's funny to see how a lot of people are "celebrating" that the Batman would earn a lot of money because it will premiere in mainland China too, but a few months ago, a lot would say US/Hollywood should give up and not cater to China market yada yada out of spite (and probably their ego) just because China didn't allow some films to get a screening there.
  5. Yeah, I still remember the big "idol concert" that Mainland China held for Marvel and OG Avengers team back in the day when Endgame got premiered, it's obvious that Chinese people did support Marvel to a great extent. And they still do and they love Spidey too. Even if NWH can only have a late release date and doesn't do much in the mainland anymore, it's still a hopeful sign that at least things might come back to normal for the brand.
  6. What about the drama between Chinese local bureau and Disney/Marvel that Western media put out last year? They said China did give Disney/Marvel a release date for BW but then Disney/Marvel refused because they were going to postpone BW's release date worldwide and they wanted to avoid ...spoilers. Did that incident really affect the relationship between Disney/Marvel and China?
  7. Why do you think Jake Sully wasn't born as The Chosen One? He was the only person who could form a special connection and ride the red flying chicken while the others could only ride the blue ones. The holy tree even threw jellyfishes at Jack as a welcome for the Chosen One.
  8. I'm afraid that the WOM will be about how SW is a snore-fest than can cure your insomnia again.
  9. Eh, you can cyberbully me if you want, i'm just a small account in a small forum anw, but it won't change the fact that BP isn't as good as BP fanatic fans think I Guess the Chinese should grow up too? The criticism section is quite entertaining to read, but it seems like you can't read Chinese properly to understand what they said.
  10. Oh, let's act like educated adults and be polite to each other, people have right to have different opinions, this isn't a kindergarten site anw, but I get it, you feel b-hurt because there are still some people out there who don't like your overrated mediocre movie
  11. Eh it seems like B agenda and sjw activism can't affect Chinese moviegoers. But to be honest, BP is a mediocre movie.
  12. I don't think so, the quality of PR2 is more like Power Ranger 2017 than Del Toro's original Pacific Rim. But the curiosity would give PR2 a good opening in China.
  13. Such a dark time for SW franchise. Ironically, after TLJ, now my friend, who is also a sw loyal fan, is starting to ship the heroine Rey with the villain Kylo Ren/ Ben Solo. She said that "couple" is the only good thing that comes out of TLJ, which i think is a hopeless idea.
  14. I understand, even Japanese reacted the same. But they still hold on to the idea that TLJ will have something unique with Rey, Kylo and Star Wars is not cousin wars bullsh*t, i've spent many times to lurk in Japanese twitter, even searching through their SW katakana hashtag a lot. Now SW promotional campaigns in Japan only feature Rey, Kylo and some mask/non-human characters, like this If SW lost Japan after TLJ, then this franchise is truly hopeless in Asian markets.
  15. What if TLJ has better plot and storytelling (such as anything but lame ReySkywalker and bad cousin vs. Good cousin bullsh*t)? Would it help TLJ pass 100m in China?
