Come on $70m!

Absolutely insane numbers! Two things of note.... 1) If $106m and $83m hold for Friday and Saturday then we would need $73.9 million today to beat TFA's adjusted opening weekend. 2) Using a few calculations I've come to the conclusion that as of right now the highest realistically possible opening weekend (realistically, not a made up theoretical situation where a movie sells out every seat on every screen for every theater all weekend) is about $315 million ($65m preview + $80 million true Friday + $90 million Saturday + $80 million Sunday).

Anything over $70 million will cause flip outs but if it was close to $80 million....

Day 9 at the earliest, day 10 at the latest. EDIT: Sorry thinking day 9 or 10 from US opening, so day 11 or 12 overseas.

Going to see it again for the 3rd time @ 7pm. This will be my last time in theaters until May 12th when I'm taking my mother (who loves Thor). The showing is down to 4 seats left so demand still seems to be incredibly high. Sub 20% drop is my estimation.

There's not as much buzz as TLJ of course but I'd say buzz in the SW community is close to Rogue One a month out. It should be able to do $120 million opening weekend.

The movie happened. And no it doesn’t.

For this comic book movie, yes. Early tracking has it pacing over $170 million opening weekend and WOM in similar Asian countries (SK, HK, Taiwan) is very high.

The more and more I run the numbers, it really makes me think this is doing at least $1.4 billion overseas. I'm hard pressed to see it missing this unless China goes under $300 million (which should be impossible). China may even go over $400 million.

Exactly because both are incredible. What TFA did and what Infinity War is doing are what originally got me into box office tracking and what brought me back to it (well TLJ is what actually brought me back, then BP helped but you get my drift).

India in my opinion. Opening weekend 10% higher than Age of Ultron and 50% higher than Civil War's entire gross!

Since we got our $80 million Saturday we might as well go ahead and get a $70 million Sunday don't you think??

Agreed. It’s going to have a monster opening weekend, probably $200 million and a 3.0-3.5x multiplier but I don’t see it challenging the OW record.

Alright it looks like we’re gonna get a few million over TFA! Now we just need legs like Wonder Woman (the movie, not the actress. I could never get legs like that) and BOOM we’re at $1 billion domestic! 😅

Yes there’s a shot as it’s the finale for the saga. It will increase from TLJ, that much I’m fairly certain. As to whether it gets $250m we will have to gauge when we’re closer to that day.

I’m a little surprised we haven’t gotten a word from one of those in the know about what we’re looking at today. Already past 9 ET.
