I'm not saying this will perform terribly, but Fantastic Beasts has a sequel coming out. I'm a big fan of the Rock. I met the man at the premiere of Furious 8 and Hercules. There's a reason his charisma carries beyond the screen, because he's an absolute gentleman to the fans. I just don't see this topping Grindelwald. There's too much competition in the wake of Rampage's release.

Jimbo spent 3 months of full days writing the scripts with Tim and another acclaimed screen writer. It's also the being produced by lightstorm.
He's put his trust in Tim and will do everthing je can to make sure its good while respecting Tim's boundries
I hope they intentionally keep the budget low. Terminator, under the right supervision, doesn't need a bloated budget. If we're rebooting this properly, cut corners to maintain imaginative integrity.

Less Rock N Roll/Heavy Metal bullshit. More New Wave 80s aesthetic. An incredible physical specimen in his prime. Ultra violent. Part sci-fi/cyberpunk/action horror thriller. It's not that hard to do, people. The overlooked "The Machine" had the the right concept, but was crippled by the low budget.

I don't think this will do well
Are we talking Hercules or Doom? I'm thinking Hercules is the floor here.

Any word on Tessa and Ludwig teaming up again for the soundtrack? Creed's original OST was very impressive. Tessa could honestly branch out into an R&B career if she so desires.

The first near HALO jump by an actor? Cruise is one step away from space, but I don't see the M:I series ever crossing into Moonraker territory.

Yeah, that is a great piece of music!
It lacks the rousing prototypical Silvestri style percussion, but it's more than adequate as a theme song.

Spielberg produces nothing but magic when he dips into the extraordinary. I will be first in line to witness this greatness (possibly one of a few based on tracking). I don't care. Tintin was a middling success, but it had some of the most awesome action set pieces in recent memory thanks to that Spielberg touch. If this is at the same level, I will definitely have repeated viewings.

and of course the miracle that is gods of Egypt. just because chadwick boseman is the lead of a cultural phenomenon now doesn't mean i'm letting him off the hook for this shit. one of the goofiest movie accents of the decade.
Boseman needed the check at the time. Why, Alex, why? I didn't even outright dislike Knowing, but this looks terrible.

Is this actually happening? Feel like I've read about a Crow reboot for 15 years
Crow reboot rumors are mandatory on an annual basis.

Also, what happened to Alex Proyas? Possibly the biggest creative swan dive into oblivion since Coppola. Back to back cult classics that were major influences for comic book inspired cinema, and then...I,Robot.

No one has successfully taken the mantle from Brandon Lee despite the various incarnations throughout all of the sequels since the original. The curse continues, but maybe Mamoa can break it. Mamoa is incredibly fit, but I think has too much muscle mass right now for me to properly envision him as Eric. He's going to have to lean up a bit.
I think we can still get a proper Crow reboot. If Blade Runner/Mad Max can get a classic sequel/modern re-imagine, why not The Crow?

Better than expected for Sparrow.
About as expected for Death Wish. A remake no one was clamoring for. While the original was somewhat controversial for its time, this just was really not a good time for this type of film. Taken had a full year to test the waters before its American release. The problem with Death Wish is that, for better or worse, it's innately American pulp cinema. I think it will perform much better in the home video/digital distribution market, though. That's where these type of exploitation films tend to thrive.

It's films like this that make me appreciate the more well rounded discussion in Contact even more. That film ages like fine wine (minus the celestial beach scene at the end).

Does anybody know when the embargo ends? I`m curious about the reviews from critics but even more about the first audience reviews (it is released here one week later). I saw one review at RT a few days ago which was deleted short after where it said „not as good as the original but a satisfying experience“. Forgot about the rest.
I have no idea how popular the Bronson series still is in the USA? Here in Germany it`s pretty well known which also means that moviegoers will keep a very close eye on the remake. OTOH I think nobody expects that much from that remake. But despite that Bruce Willis damaged his reputation a lot in the last years the buzz is quite good (fits to the presale reports in the Buzz & Tracking Thread). And many moviegoers are surprised and pleased that you have to be 18 years old to see it in theaters which is rather seldom here. Insidekino.de predicts 500k total admissions, not bad. It's a relatively unnecessary remake released at a questionable time (not entirely its fault). I don't expect to see reviews until tomorrow or later tonight (after the Thursday night showings).

I've never seen such a late embargo since... who knows.
A Lionsgate release? Seriously, MGM is probably betting this will perform much better with the rental crowd. No one is expecting this to be a critical darling, or topple the current run of Black Panther. It will do what it needs to do on home video. Where the run-of-the-mill ultra-violent guilty pleasure experience tends to thrive.

Sir, I don't think this is too far of a fetch right now. This series is about to peak, and it will continue this said peak for awhile. Espionage has a new king.

No offense. It looks extremely cold there. These men are 3 layers deep, and she's there trying to sell what the studio wants to sell. Hey, who am I to judge? She just looks extremely uncomfortable in that dress in that miserable weather. This is clearly not an LA premiere.

Tom Cruise is the living manifestation of destiny.

As previously stated, embargoes are mostly insignificant when there is a master at the helm.

The "No reviews until it opens" is troubeling, it normally is not a good sign.
Tell that to Bethesda. Garland has a very extensive record of producing quality material. The lack of promotion might be due to the fact that the distributor knows it will be buried by the MCU giants. Risk vs. Reward.

This will be another unfortunate bomb associated with a brilliant screenwriter/director. It arrives at a bad time. A time where the MCU is hitting all the right buttons at the right time. C'est la vie.

Still waiting for Burstyn to open up about Friedkin.
Either way, the only person that can properly play Manson is Jeremy Davies.

That's the vibe I was getting from the trailer. More tongue-in-cheek embrace of the genre than an outright parody. It looks light years better than the last several Statham vehicles (despite my reserved enjoyment of the so-bad-its-good Mechanic: Resurrection).
