A new trailer just dropped titled "Dirty: Part Two". This film will probably make next to nothing at the box office due to the subject matter, but I like what I'm seeing so far.

It looks like another solid sequel. I don't know if it will cross a billion, though. I'm thinking high 800M. Maybe crosses into the 900's.

This is both a good and bad thing. Similar to "Men", Garland could potentially abandon an audience that generally subscribes to his films. People went into Men thinking it would be a pro-feminist film. That couldn't be further from the truth. It was more of a puzzle box film dealing with PTSD from abusive relationships and mythic allegories. The same rule applies here. People are expecting a particular ideologue, but the film doesn't appear to pander to any side. That's going to cause backlash similar to what Grace is doing. On the positive side, it makes the film a great conversation piece. It might end up being something more timeless than if it were pro this or that.

That's not cool of her to spoil the film like that, though.

This looks way more meta than I thought it would be. I just hope it takes a better "Stab" at it than Scream 3. The inclusion of Richard Ramirez (?) is very much a curve ball. Ti West clearly commentating on the birth of slashers with the sleazy excess of LA during that period of time.

The more I read about this, the more it seems to have in common with Rosemary's Baby with just a hint of its predecessors. I don't see that as a bad thing considering the recent stigmatization of abortion in the US (unfortunately). I guess the deplorable Florida "trial" period of its anti-choice law might prove too close to home for this release.

I still want a sequel to The Guest. Rebecca Hall would be an amazing addition to the cast as she's sort of an indie horror queen. Dan Stevens returning is a given. As for this film, it seems like another middle of the road fan service film. Convoluted by default. Nothing too offensive, but nothing that will be remembered outside of fans. Wingard operates better on leaner budgets.

People were salivating for "pew pew bang bang", and they got the incredibly disappointing Colonial Marines. A good game that is still being played and considered the greatest Alien game to this day was abandoned, because SEGA was like "We expected it to do better."

Yep. I just saw that bit of news on AVPGalaxy. I'd still like to see someone explore that character.

Possible spoilers.

Set design looks absolutely amazing. What little creature design we see looks equally good. I'm still cautiously optimistic. Don't Breathe is the only film of his I truly enjoyed as a dark thriller. His Evil Dead film was 50/50 for me. I loved the bonkers second half of the film, but its build up was a little half baked. I haven't been truly blown away from an Alien film since 3. Yes, that film took major swings the series needed. Hopefully, this does something for me, because my expectations continue to lower.

I'll do the opposite. Especially after watching Andor, which is easily the greatest sci-fi show of the 21st Century (yes, better than The Expanse and BSG). As for Civil War, I see some comparisons to Children of Men. This is a good thing, imo. Garland continues to make films that have provocative substance. Men was a bit of a misfire, but it definitely wasn't predictable or boring. He's still making somewhat unique films while slightly borrowing from others.

That trailer did nothing for me. It looks like Lionsgate is going to fumble yet another CBM property through promotional material alone. I still remember the backlash Dredd had. "It looks too low budget." "The Raid ripoff."

The director's history with Blumhouse leaves much to be desired. I guess it's a low budget risk with medium size reward for him. Meanwhile, still waiting to see any updates for Leigh Whannell's Upgrade property.

I have yet to see moving images with sound and fury, I'm speaking on Lionsgate fumbling another treasured cult comic book film that might actually be better than their promotions suggest.

Despite League of Extraordinary Gentlemen being a middling flop, I always wanted to see Norrington's take on the material. His cinematic world building in the original Blade was so akin to the source material of The Crow. He would've made something special. I think this film will end up like Dredd. A decent translation spoiled by bad marketing.

First time I watched a film in IMAX was James Cameron's Ghosts of the Abyss at an IMAX theater in Malta (unfortunately closed due to poor demand). One of a kind experience the first time you watch a film in that format. I was slightly spoiled by OMNIMAX documentaries when I visited Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. I can't imagine what watching something in Vegas's Sphere is like. I hope you enjoy it. Sci-Fi films are primed for this format. Gravity is the only one I've seen in IMAX. I can't wait to see Dune 2 this weekend.

Anyone know what the Sunday IMAX ticket sales are looking like right now? A good indicator for Thursday's totals?

If you excuse the early 00's CGI, it still looks incredible for a miniseries of that era. I can only echo how amazing the score was. Brian Tyler's shining moment. It was released a few years before Last King of Scotland, so McAvoy was still slowly climbing the ranks of stardom. The dialogue and acting was aeons ahead of everything else on Sci-Fi Channel at the time.

Any Children of Dune fans in here? It was the best version of a Dune translation until Denis showed up. I say this as someone who enjoys Lynch's version as a guilty pleasure. It looks like most science fiction/Dune fans absolutely adore this film. Plenty of positive reviews from the online film community. I'm still waiting for the "Top Critics" to chime in.

There's absolutely no way this doesn't at least do 1.5x the original's take at the box office. COVID fears have subsided. WB is fully committed a standard theatrical release. 550M WW is the floor here.

I actually saw Attack of the Clones in an Italian cinema with bad dubbing. It made Hayden's acting more tolerable, so I imagine listening to her deliver the dialogue in her native language is slightly more terrible.

Why was this even greenlit to begin with? The character is only known to those who are Spider-Man purists. SONY seemingly wants nothing to do with it. Dakota Johnson looks like she's being held at gunpoint to promote it. I didn't even know it was coming out this weekend. Deadpool 3 has completely overshadowed anything related to this film. I'll be generous with a 30M OW, but I'm thinking low to mid 20's is the ceiling.
