I’m really curious to see how audiences respond - this movie is WEIRD.
It’s great weird in my opinion, but it’s really gonna rub some people the wrong way.

Bold choice to make Chucky look like Gary from Team America.
-
The mid-credits scene was originally the actual ending of the film.
-
There's basically no horror in it - Babyface disappears for huge stretches. The movie just isn't about that.
It's great, though. Witty, weird, charming, sweet.

Visionary Robitel Da Gawd deserves this success. Blum should be locking this man into a 5 picture deal or something like that.
In all seriousness, I've known Adam for years and he's a really great guy. He deserves this success.

Perhaps. I mean, didn't he dislike AQM? WW as well (or lukewarm reception)? Can't remember. If that's the case, it might be that he's overly-critical, in which case the fact that AQM did so well and was embraced by audiences despite him not liking it would mean that Shazam's reception will be out of this world. On the other hand, if his tastes run polar opposite to general audiences, it could mean very bad things for the movie.
So, all in all, as usual - I take any sort of screening reaction with a fistful of salt. But I will say that everything I've seen of this so far has only further increased my anticipation. Fingers crossed for another year where superhero movies hit it out of the park.
My opinions for the record: MAN OF STEEL is okay, BATMAN V SUPERMAN is pretty bad (but the Director's Cut is sizably better), SUICIDE SQUAD is awful, WONDER WOMAN is good, JUSTICE LEAGUE is very flat, and AQUAMAN is fun - my JL and AQUAMAN opinions were on record months before the films came out and I'd say are at least reasonably close to GA response.
Also, DEADPOOL 2 *was* a mess. 30 minutes longer and considerably flatter. It was the Super Extended Cut, but way more bloated.

So many mixed thoughts. I loved alot of what Shyamalan was attempting but much of it isn't executed very well.
The ending is the perfect example of that.
Yup. Really interesting, worthwhile ideas; very disappointing-bordering-on-flat-out-bad execution.

What was frustrating about it???
It feels super cheap. Some major events feel like they didn't have enough shooting time to convey the proper amount of weight.
Also lots of people are gonna hate the ending and what Night is ultimately saying with these films. -
It's a frustrating movie. I don't think reaction to it is going to be toxic, though. Just mixed.

DC underestimated again!
Based on the massive overpredictions for MAN OF STEEL, BATMAN V SUPERMAN, and JUSTICE LEAGUE, shouldn't this say "Finally, DC not overestimated!"?

It's also starting to harm the ability to make more serious blockbusters. That's a shame. The Dark Knight didn't need jokes to work even if it could be ludicrous at moments. But today you can't make a Dark Knight because it needs jokes to undermine everything.
I don't even think you need to go so far on the opposite side of the spectrum as THE DARK KNIGHT. One of the things I loved about INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE is it had the self confidence to be serious for a few minutes at a time and let the dramatic moments land.
Contrast that with GUARDIANS VOL. 2 (a movie I liked) where every - single - serious - moment is undercut by a joke, so consistent you could set your watch by it.

Always underestimating DC huh!? Reminds me of last year when Wonder Woman was supposed to get crushed by The Mummy, Transformers, Cars 3...etc, yet the reverse happened! Now Aquaman is crushing the competition when for months the narrative was that it was going to get crushed by both Poppins and Bumblebee, heck some even threw in Spiderverse as a threat. Now it's looking like those 3 films 3 day weekends combined won't even add up to Aquaman's OW.
Never underestimate DC! Well except when Snyder is directing, then it's ok, because that guy just doesn't get DC characters.
Please find me these "BUMBLEBEE will crush AQUAMAN" posts.

Wait why do people say that Aqm is dissapointing when it is on track to open above tracking?
Because people convinced themselves it was going to crush tracking, so when it “merely” comes in on the higher side of what people forecasted months ago, posters weigh it against their inflated expectations

Based on Crimes of Grindelwald, it wouldn't be much of a shock if Rowling said years from now that she was just making it up as she went along.
You mean like every writer everywhere?

If spider man 3 was loved it would have never been rebooted. They would have gotten a new director to continue the story.
You mean like how Warner Bros has continued The Dark Knight Rises' story?

Spider-Man 4 was cancelled because of the massively ballooning budget and lack of enthusiasm from Raimi, not because of Spider-Man 3's reaction.

Anyone have a time machine I can borrow to jump back to 2011 and put a prop bet on the next Halloween sequel having a higher opening weekend than that year's Harry Potter movie?

I hate Rocky IV - it's pretty easily my least favorite - and liked Creed II a whole bunch. I don't think it's quite as good as Creed (I think that film is exceptional), but it's really good on its own. Tessa Thompson is phenomenal in it.

Creed 2 isn't WB, it's MGM. They are probably distributing themselves domestic with their new Annapurna partnership. Not sure if WB is handling OS, they probably are.
At the very least, WB's logo plays at the front of CREED II.
How I know that... 🤐

Just remember that it's one guy's opinion. As WrathofHan said, one dude blasted HALLOWEEN on Twitter, and I hardly made it a secret that I didn't like DEADPOOL 2 very much. One person does not a consensus make.

One of my friends works for Preview Free Movies and Glass apparently DID screen last night (not in LA).
Review could be BS if that's already known on the internet, but if it's not, then the guy could be telling the truth. Was just going to say this! There was a test screening last night. Not sure if the review is legit though, as I haven't heard anything about the movie's quality.

The trailer is selling the movie, but it's just an aspect of the movie. It's a bigger, crazier flick than the marketing is letting on.
I also thought it was genuinely scary. The score is excellent.
